  1. Snow all night given us a topping of around 4-5cm. Still snowing. metO and gfs going for more snow here till 6pm
  2. As expected the band is now direct on line wiith stoke. better snow in last 3 hours giving us a nice topping. Should go on for most of the night at least
  3. 12z continuing to show breakdown with huge snowfall amounts on friday/saturday FI, but something to keep an eye on.
  4. huge contrast between north and south stoke. we had light to moderate snow since 9.30am. the band is just clipping us. hoping it will edge northwards about 10-20 miles soon.
  5. its amazing how much a few miles makes a difference. Been snowing in south stoke non stop for the last 3 and half hours. temps are on the wrong side though, 0.6c is not allowing it to stick, in fact very slight thaw on some exposed spots.
  6. MetO showing 6 hours of heavy snow overnight. Didn't see that coming?!
  7. Sugar dusting here in stoke so far. We seem a tad 20 miles north of the main band. Hopefully should pep up in later hours
  8. Huge change on radar within an hour. Light snow here
  9. Wonderful photos. I take these were taken using a DSLR?
  10. there will be a few surprises in the west midlands tomorrow. especially the eastern areas of the region
  11. temp nipped up to just under 0c. might get a very very slight thaw (about 2% of the snow) come midday then freeze back overnight. tomorrow light snow in afternoon, hoping for about 2cm topping at least. Monday evening another interesting one, could slip anyway. in fact will be interesting all next week, snow potentials all over the place. could do with slightly more deep cold to avoid marginal outbreaks.
  12. 12z another upgrade for snow potential on sunday. Another 5cm for alot of central parts by monday am.
  13. i think you are right it was 27th-28th December 2000. i was quite young even then then so wouldn't have the foggiest about the exact date for 1996, but i remember school was called off around 2pm. Was that a rain to snow event?
  14. yes it has surpassed feb 2012 by some margin, December 2010 snow depths were uncomparble as it was the extreme cold that talk the bite really. Reminds me of boxing day 2000, about the same as that at the moment A cm or two more will beat 1996, beyond that i have no idea!
  15. wow. Why on earth have MetO not given out ref warnings for your areas is beyond me!
