Hi all had quite a shock this morn when I seen the amount of snow up here, not sure what its like down in the valley but up here it has drifted slightly and filled all the paths and roads that had been cleared. schools closed again and wife has another day off from school she is well happy ha ha. whats the future for us now guys? had a quick read in model thread and some are saying the cold could be here to stay and no mild coming in, any ideas what one is true?

I think it depends where in maesteg,if you are up croserw you be getting snow but down cwmfelin it may be wet snow, I have travelled tonight and from what I have seen its either east heavier snow or height for dry snow.but that may only be for what I have seen.

forgot to say I drove past the bottom of Andy hill while waiting for my daughter and I bet it was snowing big time on the top as it was sticking even down the bottom, so he probs be coming down that hill on his snow mobile in the morn ha ha.even though it is snowing here and im quite high up I think by the sounds east is having all the very heavy stuff,and in this area anywhere under 200m it is not sticking.

hi all I just came back from Glamorgan uni with daughter and its snowing quite a bit up there and sticking, the new road from there to llantrisant sticking on the very top, little bit in llantrisant sticking, then sticking a lot on the east side of gilfach and on top but strange not a lot sticking on blackmill side of gilfach? then blackmill Lewistown and ogmore vale not sticking,get to nantymoel and sticking a bit,then up cwm by me and its sticking a lot more, so looks like to me that east is getting more snow and height is key again. so what is in store for the rest of the night guys?

I been down to Bridgend today and to be honest hardly any snow down there, a bit of slush is all I noticed. but the tops of the valleys have had a good amount of snow this morn but it is melting fast and coming off roofs and hitting people(my head ha ha) looks like some areas may have a bit of snow/rain later but not sure if it will deff even get to wales and how far north I don't think far, never mind we still got a good few more weeks before winter is over so could be good over the next few weeks

well just about stopped here now,but must say that was very heavy snow fall,and from no schools closed to then all of the ones my kids goto in 5 mins, and they said due to surprise heavy snow fall we have had to close the school at short notice sorry to pupils and parents,it did give snow for this area but I also think it did come a lot heavier than anyone said it would and that must be the case as none of the schools thought before that this was going to happen, my wife works in the school and said schools be open tommor (that was yest) kids didn't go in but teachers did and they cleared roads paths etc but not now they full again ha ha

I agree there is no way my kids can get from here to school this morn, from what I can gather the main roads are ok from bottom of valley but up here it is very thick and to try and walk in this would be bad but even worse to drive,and the way its coming down its going to get worse. I think a few schools will have to send kids home as they havnt closed any around here.

coming down again here, I really am surprised that schools all seem to be opening today the roads are well covered up where I am and not sure of the main road but getting out of here going to be fun. that band down france seems to be moving fast, I wonder what that will bring and to where?

weird itv wales just said possibility of 5 to 10 cm of snow this afternoon and said it could be heavy but main itv was compleat different. had a lot of snow up here but just been told down the bottom of the valley they had very little, looking out from my window I would have thought no school but looking at web site nearly all schools are open. strange.

itv just showed no more snow really for today and then said the bad down france may give a slight dusting but said its going to get cold over the next few nights, so it looks for now that we wont be having anymore snow for the next few days unless there is a surprise. Scotland been having a good dumping in some parts, showed it on Tv and they been having snow for 16hrs so far. be careful this morn guys quite a bit of snow on the roads by the looks.

hi all snowed for a good few hrs over night and I nice covering but it has stopped now, I thought the heaviest snow was from 6 this morn until 12,but looking at radar I think this is about to stop for nearly everyone, but I also notice there is a much larger area down towards France that is heading north, is this what they forecast or has the system that was going to snow for today moved through?

if that comes off that be a tidy snow event fair play another 4 inches kids be well pleased sorry I miss read it in cm ha ha

hi there I thought this snow event was coming in by 3 in the morn? not 12 to 15 hrs away. am I wrong? don't worry I nearly always am ha ha

im with you on that as well,it seems small are of precip and I am also not sure if that is the system that is going to give either snow/rain to some. I find it fascinating to watch how these systems seem to be going one way then pull apart and go in different directions etc. I don't have anything other than car for temps so what temps are you guys getting right now around Wales?

yes they said possibility of some snow on the radio but they wasn't sure and also said it could be rain for some. in fact they didn't seem to know what was going to happen.

so if it is snowing now then temps must still be ok for snow,so maybe tommors event if it happens could very well be snow unless temps rise more.

just saw forecast and they showed snow coming in for wales over night but didn't look like it will cover all ov wales,looks like west will do ok from what I saw, and then they confirmed what Andy just said,mild and windy by weekend. never mind it was fun and it may come back? I heard a guy talking on radio a few days ago and he said it would get mild but only for about 5 days then cold again.

that precip just coming into cornwall is looking like it is heavy stuff and it does look like it could hit some part of wales in a few hrs, im not sure if it will switch at last min but it does look very interesting. could produce some nice snow if it did be nice and come to us ha ha

some nice pics there Tony and heavy fall of snow as well,i love it when it drifts through hedges and then blocks the road has a fantastic look to it.

seems like the people on the mad model thread are looking for the prozac again, some charts have come out and they dont like them at all and its doom and gloom again,what i find hard tho is its about 8 or 9 days away so that could change many time from now until then.

yes and even that failed over the other side as the snow had drifted and filled in between the 2 sides about 14 ft high ha ha.fantastic snow up there as its very high and very windy. never know there maybe more this week and its only 2 mins from my front door.

they have charts on model thread showing temps going up to 5 in some parts as the atlantic moves in, or have they been scrapped for new ones? also if there was lots of snow for tommor i would have thought it be very busy in here like it was a day or 2 before the last snow, and its only 3 ov us ha ha
