  1. Good stuff. Looks like we'll have a nice little gathering. Jez, by the time we do this the Christmas lights will nearly be up in London and as Paul S said in a post somewhere recently,,,, once Christmas is over us Storm Chase USA 2009 is nearly ontop of us! Yeah!
  2. I dont think I'd recommend a portable lightning such as a Strikealert for someone with Brontophobia. Lots of things can cause false strike alerts on these, such as the type of clothing your wearing (if you carry it around), mobile phones, the indicators in my car will give me < 6Mile strike for example. Still handy to have though, just beware.
  3. I think I'll do Aerlingus to Heathrow, €9 more expensive. Less chance of decompression. B) B)
  4. Lads, Am I better off going to Stansted or Gatwick, or should I go nuts alltogether and fly Aerlingus to Heathrow? Normally fly to Heathrow and get taxies, but I'm normally not paying for it so not sure. To be sure (screw you Paul!) :o
  5. Looks like you wont be going then mate. I probably wont need to bring all those tubs of vaseline then I guess. Probably best, will keep the weight down on my cheap Ryanair flight. If I remember correctly you said I'd need allot. I'm going to get in trouble for this arent I Paul. :o
  6. I know the feeling Paul. I did the same journey in reverse last year on the Friday of labour day weekend in a 30 ft RV the drove like a wheelbarrow. I think it took me 12 hours or more and was absolutley shattered too. Had some great thunder storms on route though! Id hardly say that Tom but thanks anyway.
  7. Michael Fish and Paul S did a 15 minute (ish) interview on on a national radio station in Ireland called NewsTalk today. Sorry if the audio quality is a bit bad. The only way I had of recording this today was in my car with a camcorder that I carry incase I encounter any severe wether here in Southern Ireland You can download an MP3 of the interview here..... Michael is funny in this one. http://www.kdsystems.ie/netweather/Mike_Pa...alk_Ireland.mp3
  8. This link works better as the other seems to default to the Easy Cruise Vid http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/b...bctid1604855349
  9. Indeed Paul. BTW, your knife thingi is on the way. Sorry keep forgetting.
  10. Even for me a virgin storm chaser, I've been sleep chasing. Even last night and I've been back 6 weeks or so from the first chase with the guys. What I have found is that when I'm driving I start shouting at every bit of cumulus I see. Stuff like Do something dammit! Getting some weird looks mind you! I'm definitely counting down to next year already. I have to say also that for me anyway, stormchasing as a group has very much a social aspect to it. Especially on the down days. I couldn't possibly have hoped for a nicer bunch of guys to hang out with for 12 days and I'm on awe of Paul S and Nick's intimate knowledge of Supercells. Dont get me wrong, we had 6 dam good chase days out of 10 and thats what its all about but all I'm saying is that its a major bonus to be in the company of really cool people when not driving into a supercell (and stuff) . In fairness to the guys (including Ian and Paul M) they were so helpfull, informative and really god craic. Michael Fish was the dude in my opinion also. Very down to earth and really good craic. For me it was a trip of a lifetime!
  11. Just catching up now. Amazing Pics lads. Glad yere OK.
  12. looks like team Remora have got caught in a bit of nasty hail. Pulled in behind a silo / mill thingi right now. Looks mental.
  13. God I hate you guys! Well actually no I dont, just jealous. Actually no, I do hate you guys. I cant make up my mind. Or can I. Looks like yere in for a cracker lads. Enjoy. Will be watching.
  14. Looks like Tim Purington had one off in the distance bout a minute ago while parked. Looks like he's possible moving now to catch up with it on http://www.severestudios.com/livechase Image frozen now. Must be out of UTMS coverage.
  15. Does anyone know where exactly the lads are right now?
  16. Hi Julie, I woundn't worry too much about not being able to get in touch. When I was with the guys it was close to impossible to get a mobile reception outside of the big cities. With Vodafone UK the only carrier you could use was AT&T or sometimes Cingular depending on your location, there are other carriers in the middle of nowhere but we couldn't use them. If the guys are in KS right now its normal for them to be off the air completly. Ah good stuff! Sorry I meant good stuff on you hearing from them. Post got screwed up.
  17. So jealous I'm not there now Ian. Delighted yere getting some dam good action...... Boy!
  18. Looks like we saw you guys then on Matt Grantham's ChaseCam near Hoxie. Me and NL were sure it was you guys, well thet SUV anyway. Looked beautifull!
  19. The car that followed looked just like the guys SUV. prob wasnt them. Wonder where they are right now. Fantastic stuff
  20. Looks like a fantastic setup Paul. I'll be watching closely. Julie, doesn't matter that your post isn't weather realted. The forum needs to know what that young fella is up to. Having spent 13 days with the lad I can assure you that he is a model of a human being. He never swears, resects all animal and plant life, doesn't drink (in the states anyway) and is a mean GPS operator. He also hates AbbA with a passion. I would be very surprised if that man has any regrets for anything he's done in his life. Ever!
  21. I think thats them Rustynailer. Well nearly 90% certain. Yellow pack, yummy! Can you get them in the UK? :o
  22. Lads, whats the name of those Onion Rings we substituted for breakfast the odd time. Trying to find them back here. Starting to suffer withdrawals!
