I'm in the SVR zone for later on tonight , but i'm not holding my breath , been a total let down so far this year with only 2 rumbles of thunder heard all year.
I do hope it happens obviously , its just a waiting game..

That is a quality link mate - cheers for that!
This was the greatest month in living memory for me in the West of Scotland - never seen thunderstorms like it since! Truly spectacular - May 4th 2006 was the greatest lightning display I have ever seen! Three hours of pure electrical and rumbling filth!
Truly spectacular indeed that night .. i was quite scared and ive never been scared in a storm , but some of the CG's were wayyy too close for comfort , hard to believe that was 13 years ago we had our last decent storm here..
Don't think ill ever see another like it in my lifetime , i can only live in hope though..

Really fancy our chances today , cells already firing up to my south and west , suns out here and the clouds are building.

Ridiculously thundery over NE France again this afternoon. Large continental land masses seem to make so much of andifference. Very very rare we see anything like what they are having with numerous closely packed very active cells.
Indeed , absolutley incredible .. they have been getting pounded for the last 3-5 days , that cell to the East of Paris is an absolute belter , its just not fair.

Some amount of lightning that storm is kicking out on the Holland Germany border , imagine being under that baby.
Hope to see something here today to make up for the dissapointment yesterday , early signs are good.

Most of central and Eastern Europe taking an absolute pounding again i see , i hate this country for storm " setups " , they come off every once in a while , whilst conditions over there are always perfect.

The East Kilbride storm forcefield is in full effect today...
Could hear thunder to the cell just to the south , but it drifted off...typical.

Am i right in thinking these storms today could manifest out of nothing really , that one currently moving up towards Port Glasgow , sprung from nowhere.
-
After yesterday mornings bit of a dissapointment , glad to see metoffice have warnings out for today and tomorrow.
Hopefully catch something better.

Look at the latest radar and the blob of white forming just after it leaves Glasgow .. typical ...
Wife just texted from Auchterarder , very loud thunder and lightning... she got ours
-
Seems to have side-swiped us here in EK , half an hours worth of low rumblings some rain and a few flashes of lightning.
Seems to have died a death now and moved up towards the Glasgow area , cant even hear thunder anymore.
Wonder if there is more to come later.

Cant believe this forecast from met-office for my area.
I know this can and probably will change in the next few days , nevertheless its a beautiful sight to behold.

I've been trawling the charts, and they all seem to suggest that temperatures drop off quite dramatically as you reach a certain line across the north to north east as shown below:
However I can't see any reason that high temperatures like shown are confined to the area they are. Here are the 850's for the same time:
They seem to be fairly high up to mid Scotland, quite equal across the uk. The Dam Line also reveals little:
The 564 line creeps into the the southwest, but that doesn't explain the temp differential in most of the country.
Given the position of the high I can't really understand how any strong cooler atlantic winds could have a noticeable effect over so much of England.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks
That looks like just the start of the warmth though Kev , by Wednesday or Thursday most of Scotland is in line with the rest of the UK , although a wee bit cooler.

I said that to the wife last night , wanna move to France or Germany or Austria Italy .. somewhere in that general area...
She said ' what , so you can get the thunderstorms all the time , id be moving for that reason alone ' ?
Good a reason as any i thought ?

Fascinating watching that storm approach slowly , lightning getting brighter and brighter , was wondering how long it would take people to start running for their lives..not long .. lol
