  1. "Sometimes weird stuff happens around here ... there was a waterspout last August, and a mini-twister this April (though could have been a dust devil). Could be some orographic effect related to the narrowing of the channel or the Black Mountains? Dunno." yep, orographics and temp differentials over the Bristol Channel. A proper micro-climate worthy of detailed study.
  2. Typical torrential downpours on the one evening I want to do a BBQ before the footie!
  3. Damn us men and our "days off..." Just had a great week off. Pond building, gardening, homemade curries and cider.
  4. -6 air aloft. Wouldn't be surprised when that squally front came through if you have some altitude.
  5. Oh Jupiter! I pray for you to give us rain for the new pond. I hear a few spit spots! Radar looks promising. But please let us have a gloriously warm, sunny spring after the pond is filled.
  6. Sounds horrendous out there but the nearest station for wind gusts says 30mph (yesterday was 36mph). Food bin got blown down the road levels.
  7. Amazed seeing these low minus dew points with over zero degrees air temps. And they're rapidly dropping! Looks like Scotland is taking all the snow. Good luck to them.
  8. Rain pepping up in the Channel lol. Couldn't make it up. Good old warm(ish), dense RAIN
  9. I wish we could see their models. To me, it's the missing link between us amateurs and the "professionals." I understand monetizing proprietary code but there's no transparency.
  10. There's a good conversation here: But it's a very difficult conversation to be had when discussing it over a variable geographic region.
  11. Naaah it's turned to snow in Winterbourne 1+ meter above stoke gifford level
  12. Interesting, 1.1C ground temp, -3 Dew, air aloft must be warm now. Yep sleety rain here now.
  13. Sublimation seems the keyword for this spell. It's been a good chemistry lesson.
  14. Great photos. There have been some great shots taken over the past week of absurd-looking cold anomalies. Ice spikes and super red sunrises.
  15. I definitely agree re: snow, but there's no denying this has been a decent cold spell.
  16. Next time when I'm shot down in the MAD thread for suggesting that the SE gets the best types of ALL weather, I'm gonna hold my ground.
  17. Next Saturday still looking decent for a Barbie. Might take a leaf out of Night's King's book and mow the lawn.
  18. Classic decaying occluded front, followed by warm front. Surely that stuff in the channel will be sleet/rain. Can we hang on to cold air for a few more flakes? Edit 2m temp 1C, Dew -3C
