Starting to turn to snow in Oxford city centre.
That must be Lyra's Oxford. Doesn't happen in our world

GFS 18Z, run of the bloody century, absolutely bitterly cold right out to the end of the run. Absolutely insane that run!, don't think anyone has seen anything like that in the Internet era.
I'm loving this battle right here 144:
Vertical WAA to pump up the high

is it going to sink south this front?-sorry complete novice!
Yes. Think you said you were in Taunton? So the stuff around Oxford and northwards (if it makes it!!) should be heading your way.

1C drop in less than 25mins = 2.9C in the heavy precipitation now. Still rain, obviously.
Let's hope that can rapidly turn to snow. Wouldn't be surprised.

Cracked open the blackberry whisky to herald the start of this cold spell.
I like the sound of that!

Only 16 days to go!
True, but the models do look like they've been shaping up for something along these lines. The abrupt about-turn of what's going to happen with next week's low has been pretty eye-opening. I know we're not there yet but the propensity for HP building again does look on the cards.

Holy moly, been out cooking for the missus' dad tonight (we're in a bubble) and hadn't seen the 18Z

Exactly. Cold, dry, heating on a lot.
At the risk of upsetting some on here - roll on an early warm Spring.
Agree with this if the snow is not forthcoming. At least the pattern of Scandi/UK high from next week onwards looks like things will dry out a bit. Sun has been quite warm in suntrap areas of the garden when it gets out.

Temp has risen to 4.1C and DP is 3.3C so hope that drops quickly before the ppn hits. Also hope the ppn stays intact. Fingers crossed, cider flowing, sausage baps on hold for now.

Yes. But only in Mull End.

Saturday midnight still shows a bit of interest on the Euro4 for the NE of the region and down towards Hants and possibly dropping into Dorset. I noticed that Ian Ferguson used the Euro 4 on his regional forecast earlier tonight.
Short term surprises could spring up anywhere that the cold air drops south. It's kind of exciting just to eek out any last flake of the white precipitation.

Really enjoyed soaking in the warm sun and activating the vit D this afternoon between cold downpours. Balmy 9C degrees is pretty pleasant even at this time of the year in a suntrap spot.

I've been busy, thanks.
If that's a problem, PM me, instead of being rude.
Not rude. It was a valid observation, IMO.

I only wear CAPE and Lift. I'll send my 0.1cm dusting right your way!

I'd gladly give up my minimal snow chances for all the South Coast, Devon and Cornwall to get a little bit. That's how much of a nice guy I am.

Harmonie also looking decent for a dusting for the same areas covered above.

Keep those upgrades coming. Almost looking like what the ECM was showing a couple of days ago.

I think we'll see a couple of hours of snow in the NE of the region from midnight Saturday. I will await it with my Lilleys Cider, 3.5 million candle man torch and bated breath. I may throw in a sausage bap with brown sauce as a midnight snack.

A few raindrops. Interesting to see some precipitation building out of nowhere around Cambridge.
Would be nice to see a dusting of icing sugar in the morning.
