  1. Hi Paul

    yet another souce of weather is that from COL(Climatological Observers Link),

    web site for person running it, Roger Brugge is www.met.rdg.ac.uk

    they have a site at Westgate in Weardale. Not sure how far that is from you, height asl335m.

    data for March gave mean mx=7.7c; mean mn=0.9; mean=4.3c(+0.5)

    hope that is some help.

  2. Hi

    Hope its ok to start a new thread.

    April 2004 in this area may be the one of the warmest ever recorded. The mean temperature was 10.6C which, so far as I can tell, has only been beaten once, way back in 1943 with 11.2C.

    Other figures are avge Max=15.3C, avge Min=6.0C

    days with rain=16(average=14)

    days with snow=1(average=2 falling and 1 lying)

    days with air frost=1(average=4)

    days with ground frost=2(average=11)

    anyone else had much higher temps than usual?

  3. Hi

    I thought a new post for this information. If the mods do not think so pse put where you think most appropriate.

    March Mean temp here was/is 7.0C, compared to 7.4C in 2003 and 2002, 5.1C in 2001 and 8.3C in 2000. Nothing remarkable there.

    days with rain16(13); snow 2&0(5&1)=days with snow and lying snow.

    air frost 3(8) and ground11(14), with 1 day with fog(3) and nil with thunder(0+)

    figures in brackets are long term averages.

  4. hi

    may i ask when posting current weather info, if there is no indication in your address on the left hand side of the screen, it would be very helpful if you gave your location. also if you are reporting from somewhere other than your usual location.

    here in doncaster its 12C, breezy and mostly cloudy but dry, after a few 'spits in the wind' late this morning.

  5. hi again

    further to my comment about raf cottesmore rainfall being very doubtful; look at the observations around it, none reported more than 2mm in the 12 hours ending 1800z(gmt) today.

    the wx online site which originally quoted it does seem liable to big errors at times with no apparent check made on some entries.

  6. hi

    not an actual snow report but what may occur, so pse keep this in this area moderators.

    anyone who understands plotted weather charts, look at this

    http://meteocentre.com/analyse/map.php?hou...g=en&map=Europe

    it show a large area of snow over nearby europe. the upper winds are a bit far back(by which I mean a shade to much north in them rather than south), they are mainly ene'ly over the continent and southern uk, BUT it might mean that parts of e anglia and areas sw of that MIGHT get some of this during this afternoon.

    happy snow hunting

  7. hi

    just for a change, some temperature info, well seeing as there is no snow here.

    mean temp over the last 6 days is 2.2C, more like mid january, feb mean, so far= 4.5C, and the long term average around here is 3.7C.

    above avge february's are much more the norm in the past few years;

    2003=3.9C; 2002=7.2C; 2001=4.4C; 2000=7.1C; 1999=6.1C; 1998=8.8C; 1997=7.2C

    like Oscar Wilde was once quoted as saying; 'lies, dman lies and statistics'.
