Any chance of the showers that are rotating off the coast of Cornwall and up the isle of wight, to make their way into the midlands (Oxford/Buckinghamshire area)???
-
all i can say is, im highly grateful for what i had today. snow on and off, school cancelled halfway through day, then sledging this afternoon and a snowball fight with friends. sadly though, the biscay low on thursday and friday just doesnt want to push far enough north, and looks restricted to the south, with probably only sleet there. sadly, thats the british weather for you, and in a way it makes you grateful for what you get, because if it occurred more, schools would adapt, and you'd probably be sick of sledging after a while. i think many prefer it this way.
Hit the nail on the head there lol, i love the changes of British Weather
Could do with more THUNDERSTORMS during summer though.
How come alot of the precipotation has turned to sleet, wasn't forecast that way was it??
-
Is it possible for the snow currently SW of Oxford to pivot up back into the midlands to give more accumulation? B)
-
Hmmm i thought the snow around my area of the midlands was dying out, but NO! it's starting to pep up a little, small flakes blowing in the wind now, all i hope now is that it peps up even more to give me some heavy snow, although highly unlikely i think!
-
I have been extremely lucky with this precip tonight. There is 5 inches in most places apart from the road. On the grass I reckon it's pushing 6 inches, I am going to measure it in the morning
Awesome, seems as if you still have a bit more to add, the long line of precipitation is just head on with you!
-
Andy you lucky git lol, right here it has been VERY close to us but just hasnt budged West, has fizzled out now, so no more snow here now, is very frustrating tbh  , but im glad for you folks in leicester, what depth is the snow there now, gotta be ALOT?
-
Im sorry if this is a very daft question, but im looking up at the clouds now and they are coming from the NorthEast, but when I look on the radar the precipitation is coming in from the SouthEast? Surely if it was NorthEast id be getting the precipitation to the East of me? I dont get it....
-
Ahhhh its so frustrating when the band just slides along just a couple of miles to the East, a little West please!!!
-
Erm, is the temperature actually supposed to rise as much for the precipitation to turn to sleet all the way up the Eastern coast towards Scarborough/york? BBC didn't forecast that did they?
-
Amazing, non-stop heavy snow for well over an hour now! Never seen it this heavy for this long!
Rain?!?!?!
No, Snow sorry
-
Look at those rash of BEEFY showers over the sea West of cornwall, I would rather have those than this rainband i think lol!
-
ooooooooooo i might have been wrong earlier, im on the edge of yet more precipitation, if it can nudge a little more WEST i will be in the firing line of more MODERATE snow .... from the netweather radar it looks right on que, but looks can be decieving!.....hmm
-
Will the rainband to the EAST of Oxford be making any further progress to the West? If not then my chances of any more snow have diminished, according to the BBC AND the Metoffice, this part of the midlands should be getting snow until 21:00-00:00 tonite?
It is pivoting is'nt it, which means it wont make any further progress WEST, just NORTHERLY?
-
Hmmm well, considering all the hype, it looks as if soon (about 10mins from now) the snow event will be over for the oxford, reading, and buckinghamshire regions unfortunatly, were situated where the band of rain is 'split' in two, if only that gap could be filled with more glorious snow! From the way the wind is blowing, the precipitation will be sloping past us (Aylesbury) by a few miles (if Less!) Oooooooh the frustration! lol
-
Well light snow here now, rain band is right on my doorstep.
All my snow in my back garden has gone...............not due to temperature, but due to the tap in my back garden bursting because of the cold, now i have to sit with no heating!!!!!!!!!
-
Am I right in saying that when this low pushes in from France, the big mass of er, 'showers' that have stuck around the London area for a considerable amount of time, will push north, instead of the east to west track?
-
So much Precipitation around, definatly was not forecast like this, so what are there forecasts actually going to turn out for the main band from France? More snow then predicted?........ less? lol
-
Very nearly at the point where I can't see the grass poking through - not quite there yet though but looks like now according to the radar should have at least an hour or so so I'll stay up a bit longer I think
Lol! Temptation takes over? I should be getting more soon woohoo Seems as if the band sunk south a touch then knocked north....excellent
-
READING should be seeing some hefty snowfall sometime VERY soon from what it seems on the Netweather radar!! Bright echoes of yellows and reds! goodluck with it all lol, im jus on the brink of it and its all heading in a neatline very slightly south of here B)
-
Hi Jamie - just looked out the window because of your post! About time too!
Hey Gringomez, lets just hope it keeps coming, we always seem to miss the snow alot of the time, wendover usually seems too fair best in snowy situations lol
-
Woohoo, heavy snow falling here, about time too!!! , everything white within minutes..fantastic, from the netweather radar it does not look as if it's going to stop for some time...i hope anyway.....roll on batch number 2 tomorrow!
-
If only they'd budge a teeny weeny bit north! The more northerly influence on the feed seems to be pushing all the snow no more than about 10-15 miles south of here! Frustrating to watch on the radar to say the least.
Ooooh yes, i definatly second tht !!
-
Lets hope those bright echoes in the east blast their way overe here without dying out as such! Looking forward to tomorrow
-
Woohoo, first flakes of snow beginning to fall here! Small for now but towards the N/NE very dark clouds

Is there seriously going to be a snow event friday into saturday?? I just dont want to get excited about another batch of very heavy snow and then it doesn't happen! lol
Notice on the BBC there is hardly any precipitation on saturday, but huge snow risks from netweather...
