Well, still snowing here.....getting a little wet by the looks of it, but i really do hope i wake up at 7am and its still there lol!!! NIGHT EVERY1, ENJOY THE SNOW!!!
-
I have to say it's pretty insane......the thing is, i dont want to wake up at 7am tomorrow to find that all of this fantastic dumping of snow has been washed away by rain!!!!
-
Looks like your getting what I was 30 mins ago ?
Its just moderate now here, temp seem to have jump from -0.8c to 0c
Don't think im getting what your getting, im to your NE, but it really is chucking!! , and i would take no notice of that weather underground site, according to that iv gone from -0.9C to bang on 0C..nope, im currently at -0.7C
-
Oooooooh this is awesome!!! , Was not expecting much, but heavy snow now falling!!! , will this snow last til' morning rush hour in the oxford/bucks areas?
-
So anyone have an idea if it will rain by the time 7-8am is here in the oxford/buckinghamshire/milton keynes area? lol
-
The sky has the same orange glow about it here too; trouble is, nothing falling out of it just yet regardless of the radar.
Just updated by the way to show a whole load of sleet south of my postcode. Just to remind people not to panic about this as it's using old GFS data; but still, grim viewing really.
OOOH is it using old GFS data? Wikid, i was worrying, because im right on the brink of the sleet line lol!
-
The radar is annoying the heck out of me, we should have had light snow about 20 minutes ago, still nothing and the sky isn't even that orange glow when precip is around and it's cold enough for snow... Very very frustrating.
LOL!! It's coming, don't worry

Still snowing in Oxford any1???
Any1 from Reading here - if so, any snow falling there???
-
maybe its not going to come much further north like earlier forcasted? thats why its really slowed down ,
It's still heading into birmingham though isn't it? Just at a snails pace!!
-
OMG, bright oranges surrounded by purples and quite large white speckles (using traditional scale on NW Radar) just south of me, should be here within around 30Mins!!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait!
EDIT: OH , things seem to die out a little fast dont they?? !!!!!!!!
-
Gone from 1.1C to -0.9C to -1.1C in a space of 15mins!! hmmm
Moderate snow falling now, blizzard like condition for a time and settling everywhere....
-
Hmm, temperatures here have dropped from 1.1C to -0.9C , wow, and i thought they were supposed to rise !!!!
-
So seeing as the GFS has forecasted this badly, does mean the temperatures may not rise as has been mentioned, and the precipitation around the oxford area could stay as SNOW opposed to the sleety/rain rubbish??? (Please say yes!!!!) lol
-
One more thing to add - someone on the other thread has made a VERY interesting point.
Apparently Wiltshire only had a 30% chance of snow according to GFS/NW, so the forecast was for sleet.
With this in mind; I think we can disregard the GFS at this point and stick to nowcasting. Looking very promising indeed for many areas
Yes, the same goes for me! 20% - 30% chance pf snow through out the night, and guess what........HEAVY SNOW now falling!!!
-
Now Snowing here in Aylesbury, Woooohooo , how long it will last though is another question!!???
Hmmm, according to netweather radar, i am just above the sleety line!
-
Looking at current temps they are all falling away rapidly whats going on ?
Hmm, as the front comes in though, the temperatures would rise???
-
Hmm my neck of the woods doesn't seem to fair too well. Snow and then rain according to BBC charts, but Metoffice say Heavy snow from around
3 til' 9am THEN a slushy mix....Who should I really believe??
-
Im in Buckinghamshire and I was just wondering who I should trust more, Netweather who forecast very wet conditions, or the BBC/Metoffice who forecast Heavy Snow!! (I hope Heavy Snow is on the cards!!!)
-
Some moderate snow falling here now!! Wont stick though obviously, due to very wet surfaces...
-
Hmmm from the looks of those charts all im getting is rain, maybe lucky but hey it changes so don't take them charts as what WILL happen, cos quite frankly it probably won't
EDIT: Then again, what do i know LOL
-
Hmmm, do the BBC purposely put higher temperatures just to be on the safe side? rather annoying that, apparantly im going to get a high of 4c and lo -2c on Thursday and high of 5c and lo of -3c on Friday? Hopefully wrong
Yet London is colder
-
Ah well. a shower has reached me and it's of HEAVY rain unfortunatly, really will thaw out the rest of the snow , but hey, im optimistic of Thursday and Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
anyone tell me where the showers are?
Mainly out to sea off cornwall, there are a few heavy ones coming up from the south, heading for Reading and Oxford etc..
-
snowing again very hard here but very wet and certainly not settling ontop of what's here already.
Ahhhh your joking, iv been watching this shower and it's right on track for me, but i want it to top up the snow not melt it lool

Awesome stuff!!! Here we have atleast 4-5cm, thick carpet covering everything!! , The most snow iv seen here since February 2006, and this event easily beats Mondays by a clear mile......and a bonus......wasnt even forecast this amount of snow, rather NO snow by morning due to it turning back to rain......how cool is that.
BUT, is this going to be short lived. Is the snow going to melt in the oxford/Buckinghamshire/Reading areas???
Is rain going to wash it away later in the day?....(i hope not!!!)
!!!
