Oooh wow, just had rumbles of thunder and they sounded like mini bombs going off, 1 after the other , it actually vibrated the floor , shocking!
-
Just a quick question - why are people shutting their computers off during the storms? Is it in case of a power cut which shuts it down incorrectly?
I thought it was because of the electrics. Especially shut it down if you have'nt got a surge protector. Just had a storm and the internet went out. A few years ago my modem had blown, so always good to be careful I spose.

Thunderstorms to my North and Northeast. Can hear very deep, loud and frequent rumbles of thunder and a few flashes of lightning.
-
This is weird, My weather gadget Both on my Desktop and my Firefox says 'Icy' and 'Rain/Snow' lol
If 1 said it fine, but 2? weird haha
Anyway, should be seeing some showeres sooooon.

Heavy rain and 1 crack of thunder which surprised me! B)

Is it me, or is the NW 5min radar stuck on 0910? I can't get it past that point, which is a bit irritating on a day like today.
Mines working alright. A refresh? Restart the browser?

Ahh, had a few showere today, 1 lashed down earlier, with very squallly winds. Only lasted for the best part of 45 seconds however lol. From here on in, it looks as if the bands have passed and now im getting into the dry, boring slot.
Aload of sferics just blown into action near Norwich, on the netweather lightning detector. Wow!

Here's hoping in South Bucks, well i'm not exactly Eastbourne but i'm far from Manchester, I hope these beasts don't dissipate in the next few hours and some of us here get to witness some absolute cracking storms.
Questions though anyone:
1: Does it stand a chance of reaching Bucks, I mean is dissipation highly likely, for 2009 - every import has dissipated before reaching here so....?
2: Is it moving straight Northerly or NNWesterly? I mean if that big storm near central southern england is moving north-easterly I can say goodbye to my thunderstorm chances.
Woohey, another bucks geezer
Well that storm seems to be heading in a N/W direction, however maybe too far N/W, might head through oxford, which if it does, will just miss me lol!!!

Any chance of that storm over northern France making it over to us and inland?
Some real nice looking storms in the N/E.
-
Are those showers refined to the West? Or may they drift East to say the Oxfordshire area?
-
clouding over here now, with large clumps of Tcu, to my sw its looking pretty dark, but its misty and hard to make out any anvils ect. Id say somethings brewing over oxford / aylesbury way at the minute looking at the sky.
Winds just started picking up too.
Just had some extremely...light...rain, looking at the sky now, the clouds are breaking up. Looking at the radar however, theres a cell to the SE of me, all be it pretty small though.

Wooh, im near the area of 2000 Cape and -5 LI. Lets hope something spectacular can be pulled off lol
(or is that just wishful thinking, even though data is there to back it up lol)
-
Current temp here is 25C already, uncomfortably humid here. I see we have a big upgrade today, woohoo, bring it on.
Oh and I was wondering what convective inhibition is and what it should be for storms to fire up, as I now know what CAPE and LI are thanks to you guys lol? cheers

Still a few flashes of lightning here and faint rumbles of thunder, main part has moved West affecting Oxford now.
A house caught on fire due to a lightning strike apparantly, there was a double strike in the direction the house was in which I witnessed, could'nt take the picture though..arrrgh
-
Are the storms that are here now going to keep going or developing through the night? I only ask now because theres a 56% storm risk from 19:00 to 1:00 for my area....
-
Talking about these close proximity strikes, I can hear aload of fire engines making there way somewhere.
As im writing this 1 VERY CLOSE strike and LOUD THUNDER. Wow
EDIT: And iv noticed a cell has suddenly popped up over oxford
-
Frequent thunder and lightning with some strikes being too close for comfort, 1 fantastic fork lightning that had split into 2 and very heavy rain here, huge drops. Roads have streams of water and the bottom of my garden is a river.
Iv tried taking a few pics but with no luck....i'll keep trying though lol

Woohey, some loud thunder now,and just had a very bright flash of lightning, the dogs are barking mad, literally. :o
Im just looking at the hpa Wind vectors and there seems to be alot of circulation!? Does that mean anything?
-
Ahhh, how can a thunderstorm make progress and then stay in one place? It made progress right for me, and now its kinda stopped and circling
-
Wow this is amazing, surrounded by cells, a biggie with aload of sferics just to the East of me. Can hear faint rumbles....Just came in from work and found all of this going on!!! Did'nt think it was supposed to be a very active day? B)

Lucky French...it's a feast for the eyes lol
