Things are looking extremely good model wise, just hope everything can pull together and bring us one of the best winters in my life!
The weather forecaster on the sky news channel isn't too sure though. She thinks it will break down somewhat
-
The models are full of massive potential.
We must respect the intensity of the cold pool to our east.

I strongly believe the power of this Arctic high is being underplayed by most if not all models.
I think by the end of next week we could well be shovelling ourselves out of our homes in an historic freeze.
Things will begin to move fast towards the weekend modelwise.
I really hope your right, but i think many people will disagree. As they say many factors can contribute to 'alter' or change things completely.

I am liking this very much, just look at what is sinking south
Hey Guys,
Im really sorry, but when i look at these charts together im a little confused as to what they are.
Erm, what i mean is they are both 12Z charts and at the same time (Mon 14 Dec 06:00). Is 1 a pub run? I dont even know what is either lol

Clear skies with the strong moonlight lighting up the frost. Looks beautiful.
Frost really making it's mark here.
Current temp is -0.7C
Would really like it alot colder but hey hoe, atleast im below zero :smiliz19:
-
Seems as if that precip skirting the south is losing intensity
Have been a few lightning strikes there according to meteo.

Just had to cycle home in this from work....and OMG.
The wind is absolutley mental! Loud gusts and sheets of wind driven rain is bringing visibility to virtually zero.
I had to come over a small hill to get home and you could not see anything past 200yards or so apart from streaks of rain, fast moving clouds and the faded traffic lights in the distance, it was utterly amazing, although not good to be out in it mind you lol! ¬.¬

Ooooooo a nice -0.3 here!
Dense Fog and a nice glittering frost over the cars and pavements where it rained earlier on.
I just LOVE winter.....
-
Most of the day been cloudy with outbreaks of rain and heavy drizzle. Suddenly cleared nicely, sun broke from the clouds and feeling warm in the sunshine.
Currently: Cloudy with breaks in the sky, lovely dark clouds against white.
Current temp is 14C
Oh, and I thought I would show you this. I took a screen grab of when I was looking at the weather for my area on the BBC website.
Look, I got a sandstorm on Weds Night! lol! :(

Here you go Jamie, just so you dont feel left out
Hahaha! Funny man

Could be a few things, but I would imagine it is the downdraught from the within the cloud. Although the storm is moving NE, the downdraught would occur to the Western flank, thus moving the clouds in a W/NW direction. It could be the result of inflow winds - i.e. if the storm is still organising, it could be drawing on slightly moister air from the southern region, meaning the clouds along this path could be moving NW. It could also be rotation, keep your eyes peeled for possible funnels!
The air flow around any form of shower or storm can be so turbulent, the winds and therefore the clouds can move in really any direction.
Hey Harry, thanks for that!
Havn't seen any funnels though!

Any1 who is East of me is in for a real treat, seems to be intensifying as it passed through, how intense can it get though, it was screaming it down with hail, constant thunder etc for the best part of 20mins...excellent stuff! :)
Oh and i was looking up at the clouds for ages lol and they were going in different directions, some actually moving oppositly into each other? and on the radars the rain is moving to a NE but many of the clouds to the NW? how come?
-
Extremely heavy rain Again! Hailstones, the lot, wowww
-
Quite a few thunderstorms surrounding us here. Just deep constant rumbling. Pretty eery
-
Got a thunderstorm here now, constant thunder, quite large drops of rain and some lightning. This is the livliest year in terms of thunder heard. Woooo
EDIT: Absolutly tipping it down now, real gusty !
Right over head now, Thunder is loooud
-
Thunderstorm here, got really black and just had a few loud rumbles of thunder, a few sferics in there aswell by the looks of the chart, havnt seen a flash myself though.
-
-
-
Some real heavy rain, with huge drops and hail mixed in, think the thundery stuff is over for now anyway.
-
Woooh, constant flashes of lightning here, huge booms of thunder aswell, shakin the floor.....making me a little tense lol
-
Big Flash of lightning now right near me! Rain suddenly picked up with hail mixed in
-
Ooooh baby, seems to be getting a little more intensified here, louder more frequent thunder, rain is moderate
-
Weather here has been a bit nuts since 11am, sporadic rain and loud booming thunder on and off. Thought it had cleared, but just had another 2 big crashes. Oddly the skies not very dark here and haven't seen any lightning either, so im guessing its really elevated.
Yep, same here, just loud booms of thunder constantly, is actually 'very' bright lol
More cells popping up on the back edge of this lot.
EDIT: And dammmmn, it's cold!!
-
Hmmm, might be a silly question, but iv always wondered.....
The rain on the radar is kind of stuck in 1 postion, and is'nt moving further north, but the clouds here overhead are zooming in a northerly direction, so really the rain should be moving alot further north on the radar...no? lol
-
almost looks like a meso over the vale at the moment clouds on my western horizon moving south and on my eastern horizon moving north , very dark here rumbles every 2 mins , looks like its gonna go off soon......someone light the fuse .come on Jamie hit the button. this probably explains why i have suffered my worst migraine in many years ,last night :-((((
OOoooooooo Vince, I hope something big happens!!!! Yikes....

Basically he's saying all of the above which he mentioned are going for a cold wintery outlook leading up to Christmas with very cold weather. (and are pretty confident) ....
