  1. So...1st holiday in 3 years...main car has broken down.OH very upset, fear not says I we have embarrassed the locals before with my battered work truck....we will do so again lol
  2. Just surfaced from bed to be greeted by sunshine, good timing lol bird feeder attached to window, ignored yesterday, now swarming with Tits...success.The hard working lady Woodpecker feeding non stop, which pleases 2 lazy rats feeding on the showers of free suet and peanuts.
  3. Think if the Strictly Dance Panel were to mark the recent Met Office quality of forecast, would be lucky to get a 1 or 2 out of 10,getting close to not fit for purpose.
  4. ANYWEATHER I honestly didn't think anyone would bite,so thank you lol...its chalk ground here so does drain a bit quicker,I'm a gardener by trade and trust me,looking at what's on the way,the language here is not good lol
  5. Only job today in salisbury, not hopeful of staying dry, still we can do with the rain, drying out so quickly.
  6. Why do I believe the weather forecast.Laid wild flower seed,PROMISED rain to water them in.....total shambles
  7. *Stormforce~beka* Weather doesn't matter, the whole concept of World Naked Gardening Day is to allow male and female gardeners to air their differences in public.
  8. Dorsetbred yes I hope snippets from my lifestyle book will help you.Its given me a new lease.of life.Any help on 4th May International Naked Gardening Day,might be pushing my luck.
  9. Hoped to beat the rain but half way through mowing a very big lawn it started, then got heavier, couldn't be bothered to get waterproofs so I got soaked lol However,I've been reading a lifestyle book that states that if getting soaked mowing lawns causes you stress, dry off, then go to a pub and have pints to calm yourself down.
  10. What a difference a few miles make.Mower wheel spin in sodden ground, few miles away, bone dry with slight cracks are starting to appear.
  11. jtay ironically not much although it is useful.I use it to cheaply fill troughs and pots.So many people fill big troughs, pots ect with 8.50 poor quality compost.my stuff is free so top dressed with small purchased shop bought with added Growmore. It saves fortunes on raised beds too.
  12. *Stormforce~beka* what have you put in it.Also you can buy an accelerate which breaks stuff down quickly.
  13. Cleared a couple of big compost bins today, excellent quality.Puts the poor stuff they sell for big money in garden centres to shame.
  14. Dorsetbred it's 2 miles from me generally very good, sometimes a bit naughty, sell bedding plants too early without proper roots,I always check the containers now
  15. *Stormforce~beka* geraniums they don't suffer from heat quite as bad as many summer bedding plants you should be able to get a mixed pack of six colours for about 3.50,bigger more established plants probably about 2.50 each.Wouldnt plant for a few weeks but top up trough with some new compost
  16. Dorsetbred I call it Ying and Yang long period of wet, followed but a period of dry. Many farmers would agree,Its more important regarding summer holidays. Its vital that you have a reliable person to water for you.Two days@85 degrees without water, goodbye hanging baskets *Stormforce~beka* geraniums Hardy in heat 6 for 3.50
  17. *Stormforce~beka* Seems crazy after so much rain, but north or especially NE winds dry the ground so fast bit of sun and you dry out.
  18. Not unexpected.Drying wind plus sun equals rapid drying out.Pots and troughs now need regular watering.Told pub landlord to start watering his pots and hanging baskets, sadly his language wasn't that supportive lol
  19. I found my time at college very interesting.I was only one of two blokes in a class of 24 lol Field days were good as you saw things bought to life instead of seeing a photo.
  20. My most disliked work is cutting grass I find it very boring.Today hit the jackpot...5 jobs...5 lawns lol..last one is about a mile and a quarter walk behind the mower.Cold..I think not..T shirt soaked through. However, done some research, worked out 4 pints of beer tonight should replace the sweat lol
  21. *Stormforce~beka* just joking...the guys made the day easy for me to get to very kind of them.Very emotional day 7 of.our solid 24 touring crew no longer with us,great stories and memories though, never forgotten.
