  1. jtay I knew Mark Shering really well the previous guy we used to travel from Kent on Thursday long wheel base truck and wheel the full trolleys on.We were able to be very competitive not unusual to take 3k on a busy Saturday
  2. Mainly yes but I'm honest..buy cheap ...sell cheap...sell out..summer bulbs have arrived today. This year our new place has a garden untouched in years so will try to colour it up a bit
  3. No they are expensive lol just got 120 dyanthus for 30 p each be interested in the Salvias My bad...Dianthus
  4. I'm enjoying the cut and thrust of bartering.Delphiniums 2 litre pots 2 quid nothing over 2.50 so far shrubs and all perennials only need a tidy then good to go.Got my eye on some lovely Salvia Hot Lips.Selling on has been made easy by the greedy garden centres and supermarkets. Of course they have high overheads..does that justify a mark up of 5 to 600 hundred percent...no I don't think so either
  5. Gardening for a living is changing.Ok my rice crop is doing well.Watercress is fine. Also free water features.Tomorrow I've got a wet suit, face mask and snorkel, and flippers.Thats only to get me to work lol.In better news my prototype underwater mower is progressing well.
  6. Yes our glorious country lane aptly called Flood Lane is in fine form not only flowing strongly but for added fun filling the numerous potholes with water making driving a real lottery. Will be advising mate alternative route driving in the dark for Thursdays pub visit. For additional excitement round the corner there's about 80 metres of lake/lane that's over a foot deep.
  7. River was high.Lovely setting.Few folk stopped for a fishing type chat.Fished into dusk...fish started feeding..breeze dropped...a minor sunset....then home.Truly love the outdoors.
  8. Report from the Mybed Weather Centre.Reports of hail..snow..thunder...rain..here it's dry..quite mild..without any hint of wind. These conditions will continue until its time for Coco Pops and an apple.
  9. Grass cutting starts next Monday...boo lol..Mind you plants purchased at rock bottom prices have been good for morale.
  10. jtay was talking to a mate about this today actually and ironically Hyundi was in his top 2.Self propelled is a must with grass size you are doing you get warranty and a mower that should last years.Do one cut of the neighbours free see how long it takes and charge accordingly.20 pounds an hour is reasonable considering fuel servicing oil ect.The pros cut regardless as its their living but that can include very dry or wet which I'm sure you would avoid
  11. matt111 years ago the OH took me for an early February birthday treat to Wroxham on the Broads.I don't have a problem with the cold....normally.Like loons we decided Cromer would be a good destination.Ignoring her fears of the bitter Northerly I set off to the end of Cromer Pier.I have never known such cold. The wind cut like a knife.
  12. Todays North Easterly gave a nasty dose of the Nadgers.Other gardeners complained of similar symptoms it can be quite nasty
  13. After a protest rally by the garden birds about empty feeders they were duly filled.Just masses of Tits with a Robin and occasional Woodpecker.Previous house Finches and Wagtails and no Tits only a mile apart...any clues?
  14. Nice day..work first...boo..then purchased ludicrously cheap plants...brief watch of the towns football match...pitiful....then sat watching a friend fish for a while...until he lost a big fish...the language made me blush so I went home.
  15. jtay I would say petrol every time.Dependent how often you cut and how big the area is then depends on if you get a pusher or self propelled.I do a fair bit of lawn mowing but small lawns.I purchased a new one from Screwfix for 150.It paid for itself 5 times over in a year.Get back to me before buying giving me a few answers.
