Moderate (very) wet snow falling here in jarrow

So it's going to be getting relatively colder this week, with relatively being the choice word in that as compared with the winter we've had thus far its an improvement, but still absolutely shocking if it's what a coldie desires for just 3 measly months of a year.
I mean it hasn't been all bad at least theres been some exciting weather with the big atlantic storms rolling in, and it hasn't even been that mild - it's still felt cold. But it just isn't the same is it?
We in the far north have still probably had more of a winter than those in the south, who've had milder temperatures and some not even a flake of snow, i've had one fairly heavy snow shower back in November, and I know some of us with a bit more elevation had some the other day.
Wintry showers possible then in the next few days... after that who knows hopefully we can have something notable by the end of the winter/ into Spring even.

Its a case of here we go again for coldies after tonight's ECM run
I can't cope hahaha, it's as if the garden path it's trying to lead us down again is actually a travelator. Keeping myself chained to the fence for the foreseeable

Gorgeous day outside,
It's just a shame that we don't have an easterly to look forward to anymore. Following the model thread is such a headache its so easy to get sucked into great output, even when we know its still too far away to be certain, its disappointing when it's not going to happen and its another delay for the chance of some winter,
The sunshine is doing wonders to cheer me up on that front though, although into next week looks a bit dreary

The frost outside is crunchy like snow, a welcome substitute in our withdrawals of the white stuff!

If any of you are familiar with South Shields, this was the scene at the Groyne earlier this morning.
That's insane!

wow i didnt expect the tyne to burst its banks goes to show how high this tide is going to be and it does not bode well for those further south
Yep glad i'm well away from any coasts and rivers!

The Tyne appears to have burst its banks
Live on sky news btw

Just had an email saying there's storm damage to my Uni buildings, it's a bit mental outside like!!

Missed all the thunder and lightning fun stuck in work, didn't hear a thing!
Driving home about half an hour ago was a torrential shower with some hail mixed in, wind really gusting badly in it. There was flashing orange lights on a truck at the yorkie roundabout think they might have been pumping water out? Always floods there anytime we get torrential precip now
-
What an amazing bit of luck was watching that precipitation over Northumberland earlier didn't expect it to make it this far, had a flurry of snow before in Central Newcastle and now in heavy snow falling in jarrow!

To be fair Gav, I wouldn't be taking any forecast as gospel this far out in these kind of setups.
The setup would suggest wintry showers will be possible.
Bit more of a dip in uppers and we could be in for some fun and games from Tuesday We're just on the blip in output atm could go either way, many more runs to go yet.

Very nearly had an air frost here this morning, down to 0.6C.
-
You wouldn't be seeing relatives if that came off...
The majority of us live a few streets apart now so whatever the weather is we can walk, even that would be difficult though I imagine hahah

Can't help but take a peek at some CFS charts when i'm bored,
Christmas Eve Snowmageddon looks alright

Few flashes of lightning to the north of me about 15 minutes ago, its often the case that the storms are north of the river here, just something i've noticed this year!

A fresh but sunny start to the day in Darlo this morning hardly a cloud in the sky
Currently 14.0c and rising
After a blip this weekend things will return to normal next week with the summer warmth returning
The blip was certainly felt here today, miserable day barely above 15C, murky cloudy skies and a howling wind. One to forget.. looking forward to some brightness again.

BBC Weather just tweeted this photo over Sydney
Couldn't help noticing the similarity to our Storm coming up 2 years ago this summer
Wouldn't mind some thunderstorms to make up for the shocking winter we've had in terms of excitement... A blend of the best bits Summer 12 and 13 would be awesome!
