  1. A bit of a push and shove situation with High pressure setting up in the North East and later in the month far down South below the English Channel, Spain and surrounding area inc nr Atlantic.

This will stop the very cold conditions over Scandi coming West and stop any troughs or low pressure coming East, in fact pushing these Lows (pic) North towards Greenland leaving us in the middle with spells of rain and sunny periods with southerly winds for the next week or so... in turn biting heads off Exacta's white Arctic blast!

  2. Maybe we should split this topic for cold lovers and zonal spotters. It's becoming like a discussion of politics.

I seek zonal, like gales not do much rain and do naturally look for this.

The theme for what I see is unsettled for second week of January - longer than I thought. It seems the models want to play a colder card in FI expecting it to move closer but the Atlantic is a big signal other things are afoot. I'm sure it will go cooler in this period but interrupted easily and poss not able to take a hold.

For cold lovers I have sympathy but it's been a good example of why we love the weather. Think my post may last due to the time it is. 8)

  3. Not good here now, weather station picking up on 40-50mph gusts but it's worse than that. Extension to house is shaking quite bad… not seen this for years. The whole hose is rattling, loosing plastic trim from apex is falling and street lights are wobbling fast (new metal ones council installed this year!).

Alley way had bins and all sorts all over it. I've lived in the Fylde for 35 years and experienced many storms and this one is in the top ten.

It's one of those you don't open the door or window otherwise a big gust would really shake the building.

Good job this was not an over night storm… would of been worse and the Met O are hinting at 80mph and the App says 74mph, this always under plays the weather.  My fav' sort of weather but I'm a little concerned now that the house is being damaged - fun over.

Average Wind 24.4 mph NW. Barometer 978.2 mb, Falling. Temperature 10.7 °C. Rain today 3.0 mm. Humidity 73%
