  1. Hi Steve.. I've been a lurker on here many years but I never thought you were a ramper.. maybe you have seen something all the abreviatives have missed? I'm liking your thoughts as I envisage winter to kick off in the last week of November just based on some of the graphical interpretations of the jet and it's wobble these last few weeks. But I really know nothing ! Please indulge a mere mortal such as myself as to what bias you have seen... cos mine is just a hunch.
  2. Yay! cherry pick chart of the day - only 10 days away 'cours lots will happen between now and then but a nice tease
  3. omg that's the view from my brother in laws apartment !! Where did u get this shot from?edit - I sent him the shot and he sent these back and said this ""Yep, that's us. The water has reached the edge of our building. A couple of the other high-rises have moats, but only one of those has lost power. The streets are flooded. We still have power, but may lose it any minute."" the tide is at it's highest - but the storm surge isn't over
  4. yes, they've already had their first high tide..(edit they are having high tide now) the next one happens around 8.30pm (their time).. add the wind, storm surge and the effects of a full moon.. that's why it's so worrying.
  5. http://www.myfoxhurricane.com/ A very good link indeed 'Moor Driver'.. I have a bother in law in NY, he and his wife and already stocked up for the 'outages' as they call 'em - serious stuff for some over there.
  6. A warm welcome to the south east from Sunny Scotland ! we don't have beautiful mountains and lochs but the weather can be full of surprises - even here
  7. Well what a surprize... first snow just went out in a dressing gown to capture this on the neighbours spaceship before it goes back to its maker (the snow that is) nippy out there for bare legs
  8. yes, could be a flake or 2 over high ground tonight - maybe over this way a top of Dunstable Downs - just need a little westy shift This is first time this autumn I've seen a white blob of pixels on the beep weather: chilly out there today and tonight
  9. Here's a "Rhubarb & Custard" of the predicted pressure for 2am 26th Oct in the northern hemisphere. It's made from GFS 0z and 12z GFS screen grabs, 17th Oct till now. Interesting to see how it evolves from back then. best played on a loop (reminiscent of a cartoon series shown just before the eve News at 6 many years back) or just pause it... yup... quite mad - enjoy (-; nite nite edit: here's the first and the last frame
  10. certainly a good read but would be interested to hear what and if anything has changed since Feb 2009 with regards to model data
  11. could this be the last time you can be "Summer Sun"? Maybe next weeks Express headlines will be "Brrrr Mini Ice-age on it's way!" I'm intrigued to know what date you predict when you'll change your name. I'm about to wake from Hibernation to the joys of winter (-;
  12. im hibernating till winter.. can you keep the noise down please (-:
  13. whilst I appreciate your positive wasp ambassadorial comment I have yet to meet a nice one! but I guess the good guys are even rarer this year One thing's for sure the lack of wasps here mean that the garden furniture isn't getting smaller - they eat the wood for the making of their nests.. I've watched the little buggers do it.. takes an hour to strip 3cms about a mm wide. god help you if you intervene.. and why waste a yr cider on a distraction when there's plenty of newspaper for that satisfying SWAT.
  14. Bad year for fruit may have something to do with it.. apple trees have suffered this year - thought ours were dying, loads of blossom in spring then massive leaf loss recently. Spoke to a few others and were reassured their's were in the same condition. Had lots of bees in the garden this year though which is a pleasant surprise. I guess the wasps will be back with a vengeance next year ! We call them 'bees gone wrong' :-)
  15. Looks like some may have a good view (weather wise) of the show over the next few days - should be easy to find too perfect for after BarBQ sky watching with a couple of glasses (-:
  16. Warming up this week to potentially bring perfect BarBQ weather for next weekend - If MK is back by then she'll be able to top up the tan too (-; http://www.meteox.com/forecastloop.aspx?type=0&continent=europa#
  17. I have had this one for a couple of years from the site above :WS2350 It has wireless but the range is a problem if you have thick walls or someone in your neighbourhood broadcasting something on the same frequency 433mhz etc so I hard wired it USB, no problems with it so far except to say best spend a little extra on Lithium batteries as cheap batts runout quick. Haven't used the software on a windoze PC as I have a mac. Quite a few happy with the software from what I've read online. Good luck Pixel
  18. http://www.metoffice...ather/warnings/ is this the highest before a 'red' or do they put the orange in the 'most likely' 'less impact' box before a red? certainly worth watching, maybe preparing for
  19. Careful what you wish for.. (-: I took this from my bedroom window a few years ago and the 2 folk outside on their mobile had a close call: edit - good luck everyone
  20. bartender says: "We don't serve Neutrino's in here" Neutrino enters the bar…. (-:

  22. A warning for any keen gardeners out there.. wrap up your delicate plants this weekend. We put bubble wrap and straw around tree ferns and those plants/vegs that think it's spring and are just sprouting - looks likely that we may get frost.. and when the BBC gives out its temperature forecasts remember that those are going to be lower if you live in the sticks. Have a lovely Bank holiday weekend (-:
  23. Visually... very interesting to watch things develop in France today http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=satradar whether or not anything electric will get to us is indeed open to debate (-:
