  1. I'm staying right here with a nice warm mulled wine tonight... then out early in the morning to take those photographs - ooh I cant wait (-: just had a quick glance at the models and it looks to be a very interesting month - but lets enjoy this event tonight it, will be lovely - if your're not travelling anywhere !
  2. yes.. (-: and would the last cynic turn off the lights as they leave on Saturday night please - and yes the light switch does work
  3. latest BBC TV forecast implied that we may hang on to a little further snowfall on Sunday.. also the duration on Sat night into Sunday seemed longer - just keeps getting better in my very humble opinion.
  4. Sunday morning before the trafic starts moving is going to be ideal for taking those 2012 Christmas card photos. If anyone drives down Welwyn high street at 6am and puts muddy tracks down the middle I shall be quite upset - If you want to turn up on ski's in a mankini you're more than welcome to appear in my photos - might even make it into the nationals.. (-: is there anyone on here who can lend Tim their mankini ? - all expenses reimbursed - promise !

  6. we have been orange warned ! (they ran out of red pixels) 'officially' at last - took em a while tho (-: http://www.metoffice...ings.html?day=2
  7. lots of options here too http://www.sat24.com/en/gb and for a laugh this one is good for showing rain - take no notice (-: http://www.meteoblue...aps/00PCP03.htm
  8. yeh and this one's juicy if you'd like to see the bad boy building up also - http://www.met.fu-be...video/bmbf2.mpg goes back a few days too bring it onnnn http://www.met.fu-be...video/bmbf2.mpg
  9. For US the 0z gfs seems to have gradually brought an event forward to the 5th Feb over the last week - IMHO it's been pretty consistant indicating that something IS going to happen. WHERE exactly and at WHAT TIME was always debatable... but if you are a glass half full type of person then it is going to snow in our region. I feel for the folk in other parts of the country as these snaps haven't been as kind in their consistency for the weekend. check here http://www.meteociel...6&code=0&mode=2 or here: http://www.netweathe...tion=nwdc;sess= for the 12z when it comes out after 3:30pm some say the 12z is the most reliable of all the GFS outputs but I have found the 0z just as good - probably because it's shown snow for quite a while How much is the fun bit ! It's been sooo quiet in here compared to some other threads - I'm sure there are more excited folk in this region..
  10. Contrary to popular belief the MOD thread hasn't made all the snow go away yet.. it's still coming, I can feel it in my bones.. oh and all the birds had nicked all the berries off our Pyrancanthas last week (-:
  11. why don't we have one of these? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-16855797
  12. Blimey MK.. that took the meto a while to get that warning out.. MrCRAZYSNOWFANMAN told me he sent it to them last night - he drinks Guinness btw (-:
  13. looking good for Sinday too here http://www.meteociel...?&ech=66&mode=2
  14. and there's a chance the front may stall or slow down as it comes up against the east - very exciting indeed - looking forward to seeing the models after 3pm today - here's what they look like now: and this one just out, the o6z is not the most reliable but consistant with the 0z above: cool link to Icelands finest by Tiny Bill in the next post below
  15. Well by the looks and sounds of it it's officially it's going to snow properly at the weekend - significantly some say ! Is it too early to start talking about depths? - naaaaa (-: I'm going for the imperial measurement of 4 inches to start with... and then top ups as and when. If you like fantasy island charts (FI) there's plenty more to come on a reload mid month, around Valentines day they say. Considering it takes 4 cm of the white stuff to bring the country to a halt....Plan your journeys by radar and keep that blanket/shovel/torch/fuel in your car - you don't want to get stuck in a trafic jam running out of petrol. Did I say 4 inches.. no lets go for 6 (-:
  16. first white blob for while on aunty's site - Radar warmed up and ready to go - it's going to be busy on here the next few days: Ramp on
  17. posted this earlier today but thought it may be usefull http://www.yr.no/sat..._animasjon.html quite interesting to see the flow off Norway - well worth bookmarking or watching over the next few days as the snow develops crossing the sea (-: Mesoscale snow fall here we come - 'yellow fingers crossed smiley person' ps grab the slider on the animation (with your mouse) and move it forward and back once it's loaded.
  18. ooh I just seen a gritter heading south quite fast... think he may be coming back over the next few days run this little animation fast and you can see the orange slugs (snow) crawling through the sea - some actually make it to land. http://www.meteox.co...oop.aspx?type=1 I know there are better forecast models out there but this one is interesting to see - i really do expect more over the next few days but then I'm an optimist inspired by models that chop and change quite regularly (-: edit : the gritter just came back... must have forgotten something, salt maybe?
  19. and this too this may be a good place to observe developements /disturbances over the coming day or so - it's a 'flash' animation fot the last 24 hrs - give it time to load and use the slider http://www.yr.no/sat..._animasjon.html quite interesting to see the flow off Norway at present

  21. I'd just be just happy if the decimal point in your forecasts moved to the left - I thought it was just in the USA where everything was bigger. No offence I just love your enthusiasm - hope you're correct.
  22. Im sure I heard on radio 4's forecast just now the words "snow' and 'Thursday' in the same sentence in the meantime... anyone need something for the weekend..? (-: It's going to snow - properly! http://www.meteociel...hp?mode=2&ech=6 I've got a supply of edible hats too - I just hope I don't have to eat them all edit: in the absence of a UKMO model for the date i've done this.. warmy stuff coming in from the atlantic meets coldish things established to our right (-:
