  1. have been watching that one develop for a while (too long esp at this time of night!) me thinks that it would better produce snow in the day time with convection - picking up from sea etc - but with temps here at -5.7c I doubt it will come to much once overland IMHO Maybe it'll slow a tad overnight. Hope hope so - EA Coast may get some snow. Who knows... these multiple lows developing within a massive blocking 'high' cutting us off from the Atlantic and what with the east fighting against it with us in the middle... it certainly throws many surprises Nite nite
  2. Pixel

    Ice Crystals

fabulous photo...(-: please tell us how you did that?
  3. http://www.yr.no/satellitt/1.5941760 glad you like it... found it posted here on NW some time ago, great for passing the time when the lampost lets get dull
  4. Following the yellow line (brick road ) hope so...I was just thinking the same... have a butcher at: (takes a while to load) http://www.yr.no/satellitt/1.5941760 seems to be winding up nicely... brewing up over the sea.. I have no idea what it'll provide to who or where - but it looks nice!...
  5. had sugar puffs ten minutes ago but now its porridge oats edit.. ready brek now
  6. luvly chunky snow falling now here in Welwyn... prob the last for today tho, looking at radar
  7. Hope this one's ok..? Great fun to play with all the words on this forum and make them into a picture... Have made an effort to credit http://www.wordle.net/ to make this possible..

  8. A bit of fun... Here's an alternative forecast based on the words seen on this forum over the last few weeks: If you fancy having a go yourself... http://www.wordle.net/ For snow lovers.. enjoy the 'lampost' and radar surprises over the next few days esp if you're are not expecting anything snowy:lol: Have fun! ooops forgot to put the words "PUB RUN" in there
  9. ah yes.. News 24 inches there'll update it many times before the night is out, maybe even have a reporter standing in the only place with snowfall (prob a village we've never heard of) at 7am tomorrow, freezing his or her bits off telling us it's Armageddon.. Best stick to 'now casting', radar watching and 'lamping' for the next few days with this set up... expect nothing till the white stuff arrives. Then it's a good ol' fashioned surprise edit: the met office doesn't even know where it's going to happen till 3 hours before it does... radar radar radar.. Have fun.
  10. A Snow flake about the size of a matchstick head preserved on the ice formed on the bonnet of our car.
  11. the best photographs of the moon are when the clouds are about... and you just done one excellent photo... may you take more in 2010 rain/clear/snow or hype.. enjoy Happy New Year to you (-: shadowcat runs for cover...never to return here till it snows under a lamp post in Herts 2010!
  12. Thanks Gerry Great info and help... will try the weathershop
  13. Ok guys.. now that I've cautiously posted my attempt to find advice on "weather stations" for home use, I have discovered that there are many posts for the very same thing going back significant months placed in 'weather equipment' and now lost in the quag that is the so called winter discussion er humm (people bickering about when it/isnt going to snow/thunder extreme 'event' in their back garden) O'h I remember the days when I enthusiastically joined here. Mr Data and mr crazysnowfanman were alive and kicking not moaning. I digress.... being a man of creative empathy trying to earn a way in this so called warming world I suggest that NetWeather.tv "gets with the beat baggy" to provide a sincere listing of respectable providers of... - ok here it comes - "Weather stations" - searchable by your loyal viewers (Hey, there may be an opportunity to sell some advertising links too) for those like me who work through the night and day and don't have a lamp post or radar to watch while our days are dull - Now there's honest.. I will of course be deeply embarrassed by my post this morning and delete my profile if no-one responds with encouragement and support... esp with the upcoming cold spell in the new year predicted by the UKMO @ 240+ Have a Happy 2010 you all
  14. blimey... just discovered your post.. the search engine here is a tad errr ? here's a link to refresh yours and mine search if you have found anything let me know (-: Happy new year 2010 P
  15. Mum's asked me what what I'd love for my Birthday in January.. (mods... please be kind and edit to "bump" this to the best place) since there's sooo-many folk here watching the weather winter-time, posting home brewed statistics I thought its the best time to get advised and find out what all you home observers use to record your stats (-: "A home Weather Station. Windspeed,Pressure,Humidity,Rainfall etc...as much info as poss..." I said..."one that records and saves data to upload to a PC." Then I did a search on tinternet and discovered the price:blush: http://www.nevadarad...ns/ventus-w-831 the ventusW831... Ok.. so I'm very happy to contribute to her generosity... ...any advice or offers to sell your 2nd hand NASA designed station would be appreciated PM me if you'd prefer
  16. Just started proper snow here under 2 lamp-posts... was 0 degrees last hour, now down to minus half degree - gritter just passed by too ... reckon this'll be the last of the snow tonight, freeze:cold: then thaw till..... er maybe a smidge in the early hours of Christmas day :hi:Nite nite http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=satradar http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sample_C.shtml?text=EGGW
  17. Welcome (-: http://www.raintoday.co.uk/ looks like the rain/sleet IS turning to snow as it emerges from London
  18. Friend of mine just emailed to say it's snowing in Mill Hill (north London) - interesting (-:
  19. at last... a ramping the lamping post... "Hello my name is Shodowcat and I lamp" - wouldn't move home without one (-:
  20. Ahh yes the joy of it (-: I've been watching the regular BBC weather anime for too long http://news.bbc.co.u.../forecast/10209 and throughout yesterdays predicted yet brief welcome snowfall here... they seemed to get it right for us here. Tho the graphics/forecast were changed a few times... Today...they haven't downgraded the front moving up from the south and swinging round to leave EA in an easterly direction for Monday night. Just maybe the snow shown for us north of London will actually happen? Maybe as I write they are changing it... Admittedly I like to hope-cast, esp this time of year but looking at a few webpages between finding the light that doesn't work on the tree I believe there's a chance for some welcome surprises (for snow lovers!) in the SE over the next few days.. here's a link to a site that keeps me entertained when the lampost isn't smiling ! http://wxweb.meteost...shtml?text=EGGW
  21. Managed to grab a few 'Graupels' the other day...on the back door step (too cold to venture further in a dressing gown!) plus some fallen snow whilst wandering around nr where I live in Herts fully clothed on the 18th Dec ! Hope this post works.. looking forward to a top up of seasonal weather before 2009 is out (-:
  22. Hey Jo.. For the first time ever I got organized this year and have done all the Christmas cards and shopping, presents etc and thought I'd lay the table early for the big day.. ....got home from a late shift and someone had nicked the roof.. )-: and the tape measure !
  23. my pleasure (-: If you would like a little visual representation.. this one is fab for seeing how we arived to today! : http://www.yr.no/satellitt/1.5941760 once it's loaded.. click play and then grab the time line indicator at the top of the animation to move backward and forward - quite beautiful...
