  1. Thank you snow much Netweather Great Christmas present
  2. a free NW snow radar subscription for members born in 1963 ?
  3. love this one.. should bring some festive cheer... to Africa (-: The models are so much fun
  4. 10mins ago: looking out into the garden - £2 size clumps of snow flakes falling... prob the last snow I'll see this side of Christmas )-: but nice none the less Fingers crossed for more surprises
  5. Snow settling on frosty patches in the garden here - didn't expect this today - radar looks promising for half and hour or so but temps are rising and the flakes are getting bigger... 50p size now edit £2 coin ! never seen flakes this big before
  6. I've found this site quite interesting. Pick an airfield near where you live here: http://wxweb.meteost...ed_Kingdom.html eg: http://wxweb.meteost...html?text=EGTH/ the underlined values open a new window to view I've been watching the "pink" (sub 528dam) come and go - even the models blush sometimes (-: Italy is here: http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/country/Italy.html
  7. spot the difference ? an interesting observation on what was predicted some time ago Mr Data
  8. ah the 'Keeling' block (-: I think I get it? A predicted sucking down of polar air when a strong low has passed west to east and big blocking high pressure develops to our east - Maybe. adds to dictionary...
  9. Not sure what a 'Keeling block' is but there certainly seems to be a wide scatter of possible events after the powerful systems move on after the 19th. I would like to know how accurate the jet projections are... is there a chance the atlantic will calm a little allowing a cooler influence from the north? Certainly an interesting time to watch the models work this one out.
  10. these sites make for interesting viewing regarding imminent UARS arrival back on planet earth.. ('Daily Wail' armageddon) http://www.washingto...gfTjK_blog.html http://reentrynews.a...g/1991063b.html and for a closer look as previously posted on here; http://www.n2yo.com/satellite/?s=21701 the odds of landfall are soo much better than any lottery (-:
  11. yes and if you look at this: http://www.meteoblue.com/uploads/meteobluedata/pub/nmm22/maps/00PCP03.htm there's a teensy weeny bit of snow projected on monday for about 20mins I reckon
  12. Many thanks Paul for your reply.. I found this within the link you quoted http://www.theweathe...com/charts/700/ It'll certainly keep me busy for a while - there's certainly more to this than I imagined on first glance it looks like a shortwave is a Kink in the isobars... I see my other query mentioned what is a 'WAA".. and there was me thinking it was an enthusiastic abbreviation
  13. Hope someone can help..? Maybe a simple answer that'll get me kicking myself  I've tried searching this site for an explanation of what a 'shortwave' is... certainly gets mentioned quite a lot on the model discussion thread (I'm still none the wiser and dare not ask there) I'm looking for a visual example ie a chart with one clearly marked on it and some explanation on how they develop, what they are and what they contain that makes everyone talk about them.
  14. I don't hold out much hope of the cloud clearing tonight )-: Twas quite looking forward to catching a glimpse of the Quadrantid meteor shower tonight but will just watch the BBC 2 prog at 8pm instead maybe tomorrow will be clearer... http://www.meteoblue...rams/00LOND.png maybe not !
  15. So Santa didn't get your letter eh (-: I have a WS 2350 wireless (tho presently wired due to interference) uploads to PC if you want it to suggest you have a peep here: http://www.weathershop.co.uk/ or: this thread here on NW depends on what you want to spend etc plenty to choose from Looking forwward to see if the warm (er) or cold will prevail on Tuesday :smiliz19:
  16. Excellent - LOL :w00t: May all you NW fans have plenty of smiles this Christmas time and the new year hold many small miracles for you all
  17. I think this is a great question. Based on observation of the FI charts. I would also like to have an explanation.. The only analogy I can think of is placing a bet on a horse to win one race based on form and then trying it with 5 horses to place them 1st 2nd 3rd etc The whole interpretation and understanding of models so far out has certainly led to some heated debate here and caused some confusion for faint hearted souls like myself. The variable of extremes at T144 were thought un-debatable when I first joined this forum yet now they are reference widely on occasions. Maybe there are trends... Tho I believe the extremes are the result of a computed nightmare of pre-programed historical tendencies for the time of year.. again... I would love to hear a theory on Tim's question
  18. Maybe time to open up the 'regional threads' one last time so we can read the Model analysis discussion here
  19. Welwyn, Hertfordshire.. sorry tried to update profile unsuccessfully - chucking it down now and settling on all but tarmac Temp 1 degree, Dewpoint 0 degree
  20. Snow here too for last half hour, melting on impact ! 1.7 C falling , 0.5 DewPoint falling, 993.2 rising. Radar looks interesting for a few hours yet. Edit.. now settling on grass
  21. love your post.. umm yes, tis the time of year me thinks. I personally prefer a seasonal output - Snow in winter time, it seems right (-: Here's some words one might see here before "winter's" out: ....there may be a frenzy of other words and one liners too before Spring arrives here (subtlety represented by the absence of posters inc me) but rest assured the model analysis will be just as interesting and vague while nature takes its unpredictable journey toward winters end. It's why we're here, trying to fore-see and tell those we know, when and where the weather is going to happen before the Met office or the Daily express tells us:yahoo: if we were really so good at it we'd be rich and sad ! oh the joy of 'tinternet' forums ... and just for the sake of it, in the form of one liners: "please no snow on the 27th Jan as we've got to fly out of Gatwick to Cuba"
