  1. I used to live near Luton and found this quite useful http://wxweb.meteost...shtml?text=EGGW - btw where's Mr Crazysnowfanman - Bahamas maybe? while I'm here ... a few snaps from this morning:
  2. Here's a couple from the 6th and 12th Feb snowy walk down lane and snow fall on tree at night in our garden
  3. What ever the weather on your special day... you'll have a great time. Some of the best weddings I've photographed have been in the rain, and some of the worst were where everyone can't wait to take off suit jackets and hefty dresses to cool down. Tis difficult to predict the weather so far ahead... could be a heatwave or freak hailstorm.... Pick a day and enjoy what ever nature throws at you. (-:
  4. Don't give up hope yet... http://www.yr.no/satellitt/1.5941760 let the page load (v-slow) and watch the way the low is drawing from the N (ish) as it moves W to East.. There's a good prob that as temps fall, the rain, sleety slushy stuff will turn to snow and get v-crusty by morning... Must fly.. got to feed the Lama's
  5. My food is outside - tis cheaper that way in Welwyn. Presently I'm warming by the light of a lampost It is going to snow in the early hours in S-Herts, I suggest you get your sledge waxed up.
  6. Big snow... love it... we have small rain here but tiny sleet mixed in
  7. http://www.yr.no/satellitt/1.5941760 Looks like the low in the south (nr Guernsey) paused a while... took a breath and has moved NE again picking up some on the way.... maybe more of the white stuff to come for those SW of London ? Been snowing and sleeting on and off here all day in Welwyn... intensifying snow, with breeze from the east as i type
  8. Someone posted this link earlier...it is just beautiful: http://www.yr.no/satellitt/1.5941760 takes around the same time to load as a pint of guiness to pour but it's worth it (-:
  9. There must be something wrong with my lampost You have it in Stevenage and we missed it here... Radar looks good though hope it doesn't turn to rain.
  10. Dr Drax at it again ! Pressure991,(falling) -1c, 89% Hygro and nothing round the lampost - yet - cmon' radar - hits monitor with large ruler!
  11. Thawing in Kimpton??? That's a tad bad luck... I'm in Welwyn Herts and it's chucking down with propper snow, has been for the last couple of hours. 8inches plus. Maybe you'll get some more soon, just before the big freeze sets in tonight
  12. 2.6mm of precipitation around mid-day monday in Luton according to this: http://wxweb.meteostar.com/sample/sample_C.shtml?text=EGGW# Is that all at once, or per hour?
  13. I just love your diary post.. Thank you. ahhhh... childhood memories... brings back happy memories of simple fun in the good ol' days... caretakers strike, railway strike, snow that lasted seemingly for ever and enthusiastic efforts to reconstruct snowmen - happy days... Nowadays we get SkyNews and ITV telling us the world is going to end - with schools closing down cos the teachers can't get to work, caretakers can't mend the boiler cos of health and safety and the Wet Office warnings of 5.08cm of snow - maybe! Bring on a 1979 event - Cut the lectric, light a candle and enjoy cosying up with friends (-: sure would sort the wheat from the chav Just makes me think how fortunate, despite the daily mail, we are today (-;
  14. Time to wake up from summer hibernation... it's been snowing here near Luton for over an hour - light dusting on the cars
  15. Cheers Mick.. Mammatus rings a bell B) 'Spayne' has some good ones too. Maybe NW could launch a "what can we see in the clouds?" thread - ahhh reminds me of my childhood
  16. Seems a tad quiet on the monthly photo submission... I've done a search to find the correct place to put photos but alas it all seems a bit confusing to me Mods delete or move as appropriate please... here's a few snaps I took on the 12th August in Sunny Bedfordshire! 'Easy-Jet' just after take-off from Luton airport and then the downpour on our path 20 mins later. Would love to know the name of the wierd clouds..
  17. bump bump (-: Tried to find out if there was a place to put some weather pics up here and this is all I can find to show a few snaps I took yesterday - 12th Aug. Can't remember the name of the cloud formation but was sure it meant some heavy rain was imminent.. Armed with psychic camera I took a shot of Easy-Jet taking off just under scary clouds. Sure enought the heavens opened 20 mins later so I lay on the floor just inside the entrance of our home and took some shots of the rain hitting the driveway. Alas no lightning )-: yet (-: Enjoy
  18. not as good as the NW one but here you go... http://www.meteox.com
  19. just thinking the same.... where we are is around 170 asl and had a heavy sleet shower around an hour ago... if only that lump of cloud was here...! haven't made a snowball in ages - let alone a snowman (-; back to the lamp-post I guess - tis going to be a long night 'daaan saaaouff' (-:
  20. been watch too... looks convective (building as it moves south over something ? )... interesting that it's producing drizzle though )-: http://www.meteox.com/gmap.aspx?zoom=5&amp...on=-1.845703125
  21. I love surprises - just been up the road for some ciggies - (in my excitement I forgot to buy em )-; but here's some shots off my mobille to prove snow came to Luton! Still snowing and settling.. 9pm - 162m ASL Looks like I'll be lurking round the lampost till there's enough for a snow man (-:
  22. what a nice surprize to see snow settling... We live in a little close, so the roads have a covering too - it feels very Christmasy... off to take some photos (-:
  23. A late night/early morning curtain twitching aproaches.. watch those cookies! Sorry to hear your'e not feeling too well Robert... If you look at the fax charts for Sat and you'll soon feel better.. I took this out in the garden the eve.. Should look good tomorrow morning - and maybe even better on Sat
