  1. Just seeing the names Piers Corbyn & James Madden and you know you're in the silly season. Imagine if one year these predictions actually come true, huge "I told you so" redtop headlines!!
  2. Heavy back edge snow here, won't amount to much though, way too wet.
  3. Heavy covering of hail when I left Worsley at 4.30, East Lancs was covered as far a Leigh, but fine all the way to Telford after that. Got caught in a real blizzard at 8pm last night coming back from Peaks, absolute white out at Foolow, 5 mph couldn't see a thing, 4wd was struggling like hell, hit a patch of ice covered in snow at about 5 mph and took a huge chunk out of rear alloy, just check on Merc webite.............gulp.................... Stay safe out there people!!
  4. Well if that comes off on my birthday (24th) I'd be gutted..........will be sitting on a beach in Mexico!!!
  5. Looks like the Manchester snow dome is in full effect as usual according to the rainfall radar!!
  6. Odd flake now falling in Worsley, still -1c in the Ellenbrook frost hollow so anything that falls should stick!!
  7. So is the front now shown moving across Ireland on the radar the one tha's for us tommorow?? If so doesn't look that heavy precip!
  8. Hammering down with nail here..............postie just walked past wearing shorts!! Had to go pro him!
  9. Could we possibly be seeing the start of s streamer setting up???!??
  10. Heavy grauple here now...........................radar doesn't show it!!
  11. Irish sea looks like it's starting to pep up showers............
  12. The odd flake in shower that just rattled thru, doesn't feel cold out.............not expecting much more that normal Northwest fare today
  13. Warnings updated still no great shake away from any elevation though.
  14. For those feeling snow starved: http://www.avoriaz.com/en/discovering/interactive-tour/webcams Looking at the forecast in the Alps there should be some action this week!!!
  15. I remember back in 2009, went up to Tesco at Whitefields where it was almost clear and you could see the mersey/M62/A580 streamer. Got back to ellenbrook and the streamer sat over us for three hours or so, got battered!
  16. No problem, not sure that they're just a bit wary of getting caught with their pants down (again).......time will tell, however emails are just staring to come in about updating passenger displays with early waring of travel disruption due to adverse weather. I'm meeting with maintenace contactors for the busway later so will see if any further updates then. Being an east/west route it sure gets some wind funneling on certain stretches!
  17. TfGM major incident room has been activated with all incident teams put on amber alert, this usually happens when they are pretty sure of major travel disruption. Wigan Councl have also been put on high alert standby for Leigh Guided Busway treatment including ploughing - first time I've known anything other than routine treatment. Also all TfGM contractors, Arbo's etc have been put on amber alert for emergency call outs, current time period 0000 Tuesday thru 1200 Friday. Looks like they sren't taking any risks!
  18. Preston get battered ocasionally! I was contracting at Lancs CC in 2009, just about made it up the M61 befor it was closed, within a couple of hours there was 6" in Winkley Square in the centre of town.
  19. BBC forecast still very pessimistic unless elevation is involved, still showing 5c and rain Mon/Tues, has shown sleet on Thursday for the first time this morning. I'll believe something good is on the cards when I see flakes fall...........or belting past in a howling gale, too many let down is the past with last minute model swings.
  20. Got a big family bash this weekend with the grand finale is the winter wonderland at Dunham Massey on Sunday afternoon, anyone got a snowplough????!??!?!??!
  21. That streamers really kicking in, one of my contracts runs out of a highways englend depot in Telford, apparently getting battered there........& I'm in snow free Worsley!!!!
  22. MO warnings in place!! https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?region=nw&date=2017-12-08&regionType=area
  23. Just driven from Worsley to Preston & had a few unexpected snow flurries on the M61 between Winter Hill & Chorley.
