It really was bizarre because you would have though we in the East would have done well out of it but it appears further west was best for the snow, it really was frustrating as we had heavy rain all day which had it fell as snow would have given us a really good covering. Just wasn't meant to be.
Not really too bothered about Wednesday because as regards any snow at best it will be short lived, if it must get milder I just hope its also a lot drier

Very poor again in Nottingham this weekend, rained basically all day yesterday until finally turning wintry around 9pm, very light covering this morning but virtually all gone now. Another disappointment given the potential for heavy snowfall for us in the East Midlands as close to the event as saturday. Just didn't happen for Nottingham at least
-
If UKMO comes off the East Midlands could take a pasting and that includes the cities of Nottingham, Derby & Leicester however been here to many times before to get too excited until its literally falling out the sky
-
I think prospects for certainly the East Midlands and say Nottingham remain good for sunday/monday but obviously things could still go wrong
-
Still a good chance us in the East Midlands could see snow Sunday in my opinion
-
heavy snow now here in Nottingham

snowing in Nottingham

The idea of having seperate threads was used to cover periods where the regional threads were anticipated to be extremely busy, hence the poll to gauge member opinion before implementing it. So to say Admin has 'ignored' the results is rather disingenuous.
In fairness to my point thats not really what the Poll question asked,, it read to me like you were asking if we wanted a permanent split, no mention of it being a short term measure to deal with traffic so Im sure you can appreciate why it appeared to me that the poll result had been ignored
http://forum.netweat...bers-snap-poll/
However I appreciate your response and I understand your reasoning for merging the threads again so thats my last word on the subject.
Heres to some more potential snow next week or maybe Friday ?
-
However, I do find it interesting to see what's going on in other parts of the region - especially if Im tracking a weather front moving across from one side to the other of the country, as Radar info doesnt always tally up with whats actually falling out of the sky.
If it annoys you to have posts from areas you're not interested in, you can set your 'settings' to ignore particular posters so that they dont show up in your thread.
Just a suggestion?
Its not about getting annoyed or ignoring people its just if I want to know whats happening in the West Midlands I could just nip into the thread, the same way i do if I want to find out what is going on to the North of us eg Yorkshire.
For me the East & West Midlands deserve their own threads, it was put to a Poll where people had the chance to vote, democracy in action & all that and a split was a clear winner. Why did admin bother running the Poll if they were going to ignore its result less than a couple of weeks later
Its not something im going to lose any sleep over LOL but like I say why bother having the Poll
-
they sure have
Seriously, what was the point in having that Poll the other week where members voted clearly to split the Midlands in the Regional thread between the East & West.
The Midlands region is that vast that it deserves to be split in 2. No disrespect but over here in Nottingham I have little interest in what is going on in a town on the Welsh Border when im in the regional forum. Given the size of the region many weather events will have no affect on large parts of the Midlands as was demonstrated by the recent snow.
Rant Over

Have the West and East Midlands merged threads again as I see this is entitled the Midlands thread again

Well for Nottingham the cold spell went out with a whimper Friday night, an hour or so of Rain /Freezing Rain then sleet until finally some snow with massive flakes, sadly the damage had been done by the earlier rain meaning snow amounts weren't that great.
Anyway now that cold spells over I pray for some dry weather so my junior football team can start playing football matches again however it looks like rain & then more rain
-
it's been a strange cold spell though, although the snow cover hasn't melted, the temps haven't been that severely cold. Saying that, they haven't risen much above freezing either over the past week or so. I'm suprised we haven't had some really cold nights though as is usually the case, especially in our region. I'm just making the most of this spell before the mild floods back in over the weekend. I know we still have another 2 months of possible cold and snowy spells but this could be our one and only wintry spell this winter, you never know.
We have had a lot of cloud cover during the period, which has kept it cold during the day but at the sametime stopped the tempertures dropping dramatically at night
-
well this current cold snap goes out with a bang, some seriously heavy snow could hit Nottingham this evening/overnight with one last snow day tomorrow before its all gone by sunday. Lets hope it comes off so I can give that sledge one last decent workout LOL
-
Tomorrows potential snow event reminds me of my childhood where you could get a lot of snow but then 24 hours later it was all gone.
We could have a similar scenario this weekend, heavy snow into Friday night, still around saturday for some fun but all gone by sunday
-
Just started snowing here again
-
Snow falling in Ruddington, just south of Nottingham
-
make the most of the next couple of days folks, by the weekend its turning milder & wet for next week
-
In London today, apart from the trains being a complete nightmare, it keeps trying to snow. The London Metro paper claims we are in for a week of temps that will plummett to -20C in the midlands....
Hmmm.. the models don't agree?
Some very cold nights ahead this week, models are showing a breakdown to something less colder at the weekend but it woiuldn't take much to keep us in the freezer
-
Can't believe I was sulking this morning, borderline blizzard conditions here now
-
Moderate snow in Wilford (1 mile south of Nottingham City Centre) for the last hour or so but the skies are starting to brighten. Has dusted the pavements and rooftops slowly turning into 1-2 centimeter accumulations now.
Plenty still to come yet to the south of us, certainly skys not brightening in Ruddington just down the road from you
-
How are things shaping up in Nottingham? Those echoes look excellent, and they are on their way here in the next 20 minutes or so. We already have an additional 2cm's from todays snowfall and the best seems to be yet to come!
Very well at the moment, heavy snow with big flakes as I type, if this keeps up for the rest of the afternoon could have some decent totals by tonight
-
I don't know why I was worried this morning, moderate to heavy snow falling now in Nottingham. I need more patience LOL
-
Got to give the Met Office their do, when it came to Nottingham they had it spot on for the snow this afternoon
Flakes getting bigger here
