  1. The last time we had 15 cm here from any sort of snowfall was in 1996, so I certainly wouldn't agree that the west Midlands was prone to "absolute dumpings".

In fairness an absolute dumping was the wrong choice of words, certainly though in 2010 the City of Nottingham snow-wise didn't do as well as other cities of the Midlands, same the previous winter as well. We appear to be in that arkward position, struggle when a snow event is coming from the West and just too far away from the east coast to benifit from North Sea activity. I would imagine most people in Nottingham would back me up on this.

  2. seen my first snow since 2010 today albeit granules but its snow all the same.

How are things looking for Nottingam this weekend, we appear in the snow band but it appears the heavy stuff will be further west. Please stall over us saturday about time the City of Nottingham got a right dumping of snow, even in 2010 all though we had a covering the deeper/heavier stuff was always to the north or south of us

  3. I would be happy with that, if we get a weekend of snow it can be as mild as it likes next weekemd, just one weekend. Not seen a flake of snow to my knowledge in the city of nottingham since Decemeber 2010 and entire year with nothing, just a couple of days with the kids in the snow is all I ask for 2012

  4. Well thankgod for December because otherwise this winter Jan & Feb would have one hell of a let down. Genuinely I don't think a single snowflake fell in Nottingham throughout the last 2 months.

However can't moan too much because December was special. I think that is what has made the last 2 months so frustrating, we had such a wonderful early winter that I thought almost certain winter would return again with vengence at least once in the last 2 months but like I said aside the occassional frost not a snowflake to be had.

My thoughs have now definetly turned to the future, like winter lets have at least one month of wall to wall sunshine this summer, like a proper summer as it were LOL

  5. more snow ??? the City of Nottingham would just like any snow. Ok thats not quite true we did get in snow in December but nothing like the rest of you got. Even Leicester got a dumping of snow but Nottingham, a couple of inches at most. Given the current outlook it looks like the best chance for Nottingham to get some decent snow has once again gone for this winter. Amazing to think that even with Decembers set up we missed out again on the heavy stuff, nothing can penetrate our snow shield LOL.

Would have been nice for winter to have given us another chance in February but as already stated its not looking good for a return of the cold snowy weather at the moment.

On a lighter note, a red hot summer would more than make up for it :)

  6. Oh well Models not looking good for the return of the very cold snowy weather anytime soon. Can't believe that given the severe Cold spells we had last year the City Of Nottingham missed out again on any significant snowfall that the rest of the Midlands enjoyed. I mean if we can't get any decent snowfall in that set up then we're never going to get any. Sorry for the doom & gloom maybe February will be Nottinghams turn although won't hold my breath. Funny how the rain never seems to miss us by a few miles LOL

  7. Sadly for us in Nottingham, we had the cold tempertures but not a lot of snow, enough to enjoy but not the huge falls that other areas had. Quite a number of disappointments as promised snow failed to materialise or missed us altogether, all of a bit of an anti-climax for us Nottingham. Other areas on Nottinghamshire did fare better, eg North of the County

  8. Yeah- the cold spell in Nottingham has been ok but with all the potential it has never really delivered a knock out punch!

The worst was the beginning of last week, when that band of snow moving down from the North which had the potential to give us a right good dumping suddenly split in 2 north of us missing Nottingham completely. Now that was annoying but just goes to show that even when something looks nailed on the weather can suddenly spring a surprice. As a confirmed snow lover living in Nottingham its sadly been just one disappointment after another on the snow front during this cold spell. However still plenty of the winter to go so fingers crossed Nottingham will fair better next time

  9. Well it looks like you lot in the West Midlands got the best of it again. No new covering of snow here in Nottingham and the light snow that is falling is getting lighter by the minute. All in all although we have had snow here in Nottingham during this present cold spell its been nothing of great significance. Certainly nothing special compared to other areas. I know some of you are fed up with the snow now but here in Nottingham im praying those Easterlies come off next week so it will finally be our turn for a good dumping of the white stuff

  10. Right this one is for you Nottingham people out there, not only have we got a better football team and a better City but now we have better snow clap.gif

Well you certainly proved that when Forest beat you 5-1 last month and as regards better City I think the World Cup organising Committe put paid to that claim tongue.gif However I will give you the last one as we definetly don't have any snow at the moment

Edit: Light snow now falling in Nottingham City Centre smile.gif

  11. Pah West Midlands West Shmidlands . Don't get me started else i'll start my "Which classes as Midlands" debate rofl.gif

I think we should be seperated from you brummie people. Seperate thread for people with good accents like a thread just for Leicester, Rugby, Hinckley, Nuneaton, Market Harborough, Nottingham, Derby and Rutland wink.gif

Have to agree, given the size of the Midlands in comparison to other regions, we in the East Midlands should really have our own thread. Its like watching Central News on ITV and hearing stories about solihull etc whistling.gif

  12. Nothing for the East Midlands, In fairness we probably should have our own East Midlands discussion given the vast area the Midlands covers as its sometimes painful for us to read when you lot over in the west get excited about impending snow which has no chance of making it across to us in the eastsad.gif Then again I would imagine that works both ways
