Looking at the GFS model the jetstream turns to a NE direction from now until Wednesday plus lower level wind direction changes to a NE, ENE direction overnight in to tomorrow. Could this mean the convection over the North Sea could bring in heavier showers through the thames estuary? or am i hoping too much?
According to the GFS any wintry showers would not reach us until tomorrow morning, seems strange to have showers moving in so early? Doubt it will keep going for long but it's a bonus if any do make it to us.
The winds are set to change to an ENE direction during the course of tomorrow on quite a brisk breeze through the estuary. Could these lead to the famed Thames streamer set up?
I'm hoping this is one where the Met Office are wrong and the intensity remains the same as it comes across the north sea and in to the south east.
Best chance is the further east you are, however it doesn't seem to be moving very far west at the minute.
The GFS seems to be predicting some light snow throughout tomorrow. Does anyone think this could increase our snow depths? Or unlikely to be worth looking at.
From the PPN currently showing on the radar, I can't see how some areas will get 15cm out of this! Is the PPN expected to increase in intensity as the night goes on?
Good luck everyone, could be a very exciting night ahead.
It will all be gone by Monday morning though, as the next band moves down it is predicted to fall as rain according to the latest GFS. Short lived fun?
Glad to hear reports coming in that sleet may be falling in places already. Can only be good news? What do people think that chances of seeing some lying snow tomorrow in North West Kent 40 Metres ASL
Interesting that it currently indicates snow in Bournemouth and it also indicates it has been snowing in Eastbourne in the last hour? I wonder whether anyone can confirm this. I can't see it as conditions aren't ideal at the minute.
if you look at the European radar. the PPN now seems to be moving further into the north sea and feeding down slowing on a north easterly. or wishful thinking?
its the first time i have noticed this tonight but the sky seems rather orange here in gravesned? i don't think its quite all over for us yet. Not sure feel that something may be in the pipe line. fingers crossed.
The weather forecast on bbc 1.. still says that our snow will be coming from the area of precipitation just out in the north sea. On the Net Weather European radar at 23.15 this expanse of precipitation seems to be imense? Could someone look at this and tell me what they think?
I am in gravesend and have 5cm all together. As the bands of snow approach they seem to get to this area and break up producing us with nothing. this is so disappointing.
