I'm a southern softie now. More like a south-eastern softie as the weather here is very different to what I was used to when I lived out west. I'm not much further south but the east shift changes things massively. Very dry place but yet I still whinge about the rain. Never happy. I must visit up north at some point, I've never ventured past Stirling too often (except Aberdeen).

Aye Catch, I noticed the difference a couple of week back when me n' Mrs Big Innes had a wee day oot in St Andrews and then drove doon the East Coast through Ainster etc.

The Combine Harvesters were everywhere and the crops looking plentiful. Here in the West O' Fife the summers have been changed to the Annual West Fife Monsoon which now seem tae last from June tae, the next April.

The ground and Fields through here are so wet that any salvageable Harvests are done by a Fermur oan a Dredger.

We ended up on 12.8mm of rain for April which is fairly dry. The ground is rock hard and cracked. I'm sure Mother Nature will make up for it at some point, perhaps a wet summer of the way? Having said that I'm pretty sure April is on average the driest month of the year for many parts of Scotland.

    Edit: 1070mb Greenland High...

And staying dry in the south, a little damp further north but nothing much for what Scotland can suffer. This is up to the 10th of May:

Catch, Lets hope that this is Mother Nature making up for all the past numerous years O' wet pash! A bit warmer would be nice though as it's fekin cauld in the East wind.

Whit a treat here at the moment tae be able to walk on the park, walkways and even Fermurs Fields withoot being ankle tae knee deep in mud!

It probably won't come to much, the precipitation should start to clear later but it's ice we need to watch for overnight. There will be sub-zero temps for some of us and ground frost for others but an ice risk for most of us:

Managed a boot an inch o' snaw here and all is white. Hoping that it stays overnight and ah will get the wee fella oot oan the sledge in the mornin!

Well, having read all of your 'stunning' morning posts, I am beginning to wonder what the east central belt has done to deserve the winter we have had!   Yet another morning to add to this week of murk!   Never thought I would wish for spring 3/4 of the way through January but I have well and truly had it with winter this year.   Couldn't tell you the last time I saw a frost and last night only got down to 1.7c here whilst many are reporting a good few degrees below.

A bit different up here Blitzy!

Managed an early walk with the wee Grandson while it was white frost and brilliant sunshine here till 12.15pm when the fog rolled over and has been foggy and cold since.

Last Saturday was brilliant sunshine and a boot 4 inches o' snaw when I was towing the wee grandson and his mum a boot oan a sledge behind the quad bike.

Overcast mild and boring between these days though!!!

Hopping that we all see some of the white stuff later in the coming week and through next weekend?

Would be good if Big Grampies Innes can get oot in the Snaw with the wee grandson!

  10. Ah the weekend again eh!

Stuck in the office all week while we had crisp winter like days, Sun shine and the trees and landscape in the shade at below 0 temps creating a scene face a Christmas caird and it would have been magical tae be oot n' a boot.

Take the youngest daughter tae her works Chritmas night oot in Stirling last night and pick her up again just after 12 midnight and the drive their and back shows some nippy _5 / _6 Deg C temps, patches o' freezing fog and villages so frosted up they looked as if they were in Alaska.

Nae work the day,  mah time is mine eh!

Whaurs mah fkn froasty winters wonderland, oh aye a CAULD front is passing through and WARMING everything up!!!

I'm not sure about 'learned' but to sum up. . .

Aw man, the models have just been pure mental. Naebody has a scoobi how Winter's gonna pan out but it's fair looking promising for a cauld wan.

Ehm, starting next week it looks as if we'll get a succession of winds coming in from the N, NW or NE. It'll probably feel chilly but I'd hazard a guess it'll not be chilly enough for any snow away from high ground. Upper air temperatures just don't look cold enough for that and it is quite early even for Scotland , to see low level snow.

    Cheers Rav

Ah see you posting in the mad hoose, keep up the good work in here!

  12. Right then, time tae venture back in an see whit's gaun oan!

There appears tae be much excitement in the MT aboot a first pending cauld snap/spell as early as next mid week and how much Nothern Blocking there is this Autumn.

Ahm sure some of oor very learned Scottish members can bring us A' up tae speed eh!
