  1. Manchester Christmas markets tomorrow, at least the weather can’t be any worse than today.
  2. Cars and drive are not frozen here. i haven’t checked the decking as that means getting up and opening the conservatory door but it was a bit icy when I looked earlier.
  3. Just driven up the M66 and from 3.5c in Bury it’s down to 0.5c here but surprisingly no freezing of the rain as yet.
  4. At this rate it’ll be ruining our Easter weekend
  5. Nowt for us today I imagine, but at least we’re not at home as it’ll be damned cold sat on the Turf today. as you said though a good chance of games being called off if only because of fan safety.
  6. Painfully slow progress looking at the radar but at least I should be able to get out to the shops and back before we get completely cut off..........probably a slight exageration but black ice and the hills around here make for some interesting driving conditions.
  7. That’s a working day for me but when severe weather decides to come at weekend then i’ll Leave it for others to admire, at least until a more reasonable hour.
  8. Not if it’s going to be the freezing type anyway. i’ll put up with the wet and cold stuff so long as I can jump in the car and drive on something better than an ice rink but tomorrow has the potential to be pretty severe, especially given that it will be one of the busiest shopping and party days of the year.
  9. I can’t see much in the way of snow from this event even up here. as others have said, the warmer uppers arrive too soon but with a cold ground ice may be a bigger risk and is probably more of a justification for the weather warning than snow. plenty of time for the white stuff between now and next spring
  10. I don’t know but having two full days without rain is a minor miracle after the crap of the last couple of weeks.
  11. Up into Lancashire would be better still but I know what you mean.
  12. Just wait until snow is piling up from one in January though.
  13. Yeah I remember seeing blue sky when i’ve been flying but it’s not often I see it at ground level.
  14. Panic over, 2 hours since the last deluge and a definite risk that United Utilities would be applying for a hosepipe ban but it’s peeeing down again now.
  15. Nooooooooo unless your pair cost a damn site more than mine but I must admit Di Ox is looking better these days.
  16. It’s not raining, miracles do happen after all. as others have said though, a wild night across the region.
  17. Not been so clever here all week and tomorrow’s looking crap. role on the days when it’s cold enough for snow then at least it’ll be bone dry.
  18. A bit of afternoon sun between deluges made this one of the better days of the week but after the vile crap of the last 6 or 7 days, the bar wasn’t set that high.
  19. Different day but same old light drizzly crap. Can’t speak for others but up here at least it’s been a complete right off of a weekend. maybe time to sort the Christmas decorations out, stick a festive film or two on and dream of snow.
  20. Another day of wall to wall crap but as Di Ox would love to say, at least it was mild.
  21. Occasionally my missus goes that way to work rather than the usual Rochdale way and it can often take her an hour to do a 16 mile journey. a bloody stage coach could have done that journey in less time.
  22. Aye from here it’s downhill all the way, even the stream at the bottom of my garden ends up in Manchester. Just a shame I can’t go by canoe as the M66 is a nightmare most of the time.
  23. Being only 20 miles from Manchester and up in the hills, most around here were bought by the “a place in the country” set long before the programme ever started although in fairness, some have been turned into beautiful looking homes.
  24. Sounds nice and a decent part of the world. i always fancied getting hold of an old farm property and doing it up but but most have been snapped up around these parts and what’s left go for an absolute fortune now.
