  1. Still snowing lightly and the forecast hints at more throughout the day so hopefully a covering for many of us before tonight.
  2. BBC news forecast gust now showed Tuesdays snow crossing more of the region than it did yesterday. hopefully this stays the case.
  3. Light blowing snow here at the moment but what is reaching the surface is sticking so looking good already. an interesting few days coming up.
  4. Is it just me who is feeling underwhelmed by our snow prospects this week. i’m not saying we will miss out completely but looking at the BBC forecast, Tuesdays trough is going to head south into the midlands whilst the bulk of the showers into Wednesday and Thursday are mainly for east and especially NE areas of the country. Fridays heavy snow and blizzard event, IMO that will be mainly a midlands southwards affair and although it showed it tracking northwards later I can see the usual happening with the northern extent being barely getting to the M62 corridor. no science in this, just a gut feeling and one that i’m happy to be proved wrong with. one thing is certain though, it’s going to be bloody cold this week, snow or no snow.
  5. Aye it looks grand out and the dogs look to be enjoying it. i bet the long distance views are fantastic with Snowdonia easily visible from the top of Rooley Moor and Blackpool Tower from Deerplay war memorial. i might just treat myself to a look out later.
  6. TBH it’s probably a fantastic day to be out walking and if I didn’t have a couple of jobs to finish off i’d be off like a shot. need plenty of layers though.
  7. Good, i’ve Got a bit of interacting to do myself but it’s only at the top of the garden so basic full winter kit should be sufficient.
  8. A lovely sunny start to the day here but with a strong gusty wind so I imagine it will be perishing outside. our bedroom faces south east and I was woken by the sun flashing on and off like an indicator but before thoughts of the end of the world coming could get the better of me I realised it was flicker from one of the turbines on the ridge above the town. Never seen it before though. another thing I can’t remember ever seeing before was the ramp on the BBC news 24 forecast. lots of heavy snow, blizzards, wind chill as low as -15c, and mentions of serious disruption and dangerous conditions. they are certainly bigging this up now.
  9. Hopefully this time round we’ll all get a decent amount of snow. obviously it’s not everyone’s idea of fun but the mild lovers have held the default button for far to long. now it’s our turn even if it’s a blink and you miss it affair.
  10. I don’t think Burnley has ever seen a foot of snow but these days it’s as much to do with fan safety as the condition of the pitch and if things verify as expected I think next weekend could see a lot of matches called off.
  11. Bloody hell, forget the snow thats some serious windchill.
  12. Hope you don’t need seven. that means we still need four which probably means scoring goals, something we don’t seem to know how to do these days. anyway all eyes on your visit to the Turf next time out, weather permitting of course.
  13. Love him or hate him he is a good manager and usually gets the best out of the teams he manages, yourselves and our neighbours down the M65 being good examples. I bet there aren’t many fans of clubs who can honestly say that getting shut of Sam was a positive move.
  14. No chance of us going down. We’ll still be playing at the top table next season but I think it will be a long hard one for us.
  15. Yep, nowt more to say than that other than the ref could stop a pig in a ginnel.
  16. Not beer for me but thinking of opening a bottle of red myself. you never know, enough alcohol and the crap I endured at today’s football might start to look better.
  17. Yeah that’s pretty much what I meant to say myself but it came out all wrong.
  18. Calm down folks it’s not mad thread, sorry second SE regional thread. our expectations are always lower here and if this latest severe winter spell turns into a letdown we just put it in the trophy cabinet at the side of all the others we have accumulated this winter and pick ourselves up again ready for the next garden path we can be led down.
  19. Might have a quick peek but no doubt after the twelfth person has told me that the heaviest snow in the northern hemisphere will be outside the kebab shop at the bottom of their road i’ll call it quits again. It’s much more civilised in here.
  20. Sounds nasty, can you get treatment for that.
  21. Telling us what you posted my give us a better idea on why it was deleted but if you dared to suggest that Fridays system would be better further north then you deserved everything you got. Had a quick look through the last few pages of posts in there when I got home from footie and unless the current thoughts of a Friday breakdown change it will be carnage shortly.
  22. All this talk of breakdowns and milder weather coming sooner than expected. Each to their own I suppose but i’ll gladly take a week of bitter cold and snow before winter sods off for another year and we get something warmer. that said though the Met outlook is anything but mild with upgrades in snow potential over the coming weeks.
