  1. severe snowstorm same here. gave up at about 2pm but that’s after a 7am start so not a bad effort on a day that was better suited to outdoor jobs. Managed a couple of afternoon beers but couldn’t be bothered with any more so back home again now but even though I could easily do a bit more wall papering, with my eyes and the beer, I think it’s better left until tomorrow.
  2. Lovely start to the day in the sense that it’s not raining and the sun is increasingly poking through the haze. still a bit of mist of the tops but this looks to be burning back and given that it’s still early, a decent day for anything outdoor looks to be on the cards. a morning of decorating for me and then the rest of the day is mine and if the weather holds, a few beers and a bit of watching traditional Lancashire clog dancing, not that I’ll be doing any of that myself but I’ll help with the beer drinking if asked whatever you are up to, enjoy.
  3. Iceaxecrampon go back 25/30 years and the town was packed on Easter Saturday. Still gets busy but a fair few of the pubs on the route have closed now not that I could ever manage the tradition of a pint in every one. these days I’d be lucky to just get around the town centre ones.
  4. Beefier showers this afternoon with a decent mixture of rain and hail but still plenty of blue sky and sunshine in between. No thunder as far as I’m aware though but another decent convective day and pretty typical conditions for the time of year. Thankfully tomorrow is looking better and with us actually being at home on Easter Saturday, an opportunity to spend the afternoon watching the Coconutters and a few beers around the town.
  5. Brief heavy shower coming back over the tops from Burnley but sunny again now. that’s as bad as it gets.
  6. Dry start but the forecast doesn’t offer much hope of it staying that way throughout the day. looking better tomorrow and Sunday although no doubt the weather gods will be leaving no stone unturned to give our region the lions share of any rain on offer but given the relentless crap of the last few months, even a decent two days out of the four would be a good effort, certainly for anyone with outside plans.
  7. Not bad until lunchtime but definitely a bit moist this afternoon. Thankfully it’s cleared through now and hopefully that’s as bad as it gets over the next 4 days.
  8. And as quick as it came, it went again but it left a covering on its way.
  9. Not a bad afternoon but it looks like I’ve been chased home up the valley by the mother of all showers and within 5 minutes it went from sunshine to thunder, hailstones and snow. I was going out again but I think I’ll give it a miss.
  10. Weather-history a tad on the moist side if that comes off anything like shown
  11. As already said, rain throughout the day and a generally depressing feel to things. Whether things will buck up for Easter is still to be decided but after the gloom of the last few months, it’s never been more wanted.
  12. Why couldn’t the pretty constant showers crossing here since early afternoon have been snow then at least they would have stopped either north or south and given me a dry usable few hours
  13. Plenty of sunshine today but no shortage of heavy hail and sleety showers either but no white, even on the highest tops I can see from here. all in all, could have been better but could easily have been worse as well.
  14. Sunshine and showers sort of day coming up for most with a postcode lottery of who sees the lions share of the dry, usable weather and who get soaked. It’s sunny here at the moment but in the last half hour we have had a bit of everything including heavy hail and I think that this will be the case throughout the day. hopefully a bit better tomorrow but next week and the Easter weekend onwards are looking, to put it politely, depressingly mixed.
  15. Early finish Friday on one of those rare days that turns out better than forecasted. A cold breeze is the only thing spoiling it but my free late afternoon is taken up by some inside painting so I suppose it doesn’t really matter how nice it is outside.
  16. Weather-history I’m sure we must have had snow up here especially with it saying all roads over the Pennines being blocked but I can’t remember this event.
  17. cheshire snow the mad thread can have as many southerly corrections as it wants at this time of year. I’ll take dry warm and sunny.
  18. Off round the corner to the local for a teatime pint or two and although I’ve not got the slightest bit of Irish decent in me, maybe a celebratory Guinness for a change.
  19. PennineMark just a shame that they’ve taken the car park or is it back again now. On the odd time that I drive in to the centre to pick my missus up from meeting friends it’s a nightmare trying to park these days. your right about the town hall though, never been inside but it’s an impressive building from the outside
  20. Not particularly a train enthusiast but it’s not every day that you come out of Rawtenstall retail park as A4 Pacific Sir Nigel Gresley is slowly heading into the station Just a shame that my phone was in my pocket but a lot of cameras were in action. weatherwise, it’s tuned into a lovely sunny and mild spring afternoon.
  21. Thought it was brightening, now it’s raining. ah well, it’s the weather and it will do what it wants.
  22. Had Worse been and gone by 9, a bit tight going through the front door but we now have a kitchen completely taken over by an American fridge freezer
  23. Up at silly o’clock on a rest day as it looks like we’ve got an early delivery slot from a two letter online electrical retailer. that said it’s a 4 hour slot so 7.15 could still end up being 11.15 but at least it frees up the rest of the day. just need the rain and grime to sod off so that we can make the most of the warm sunshine that’s apparently available at the moment.
