  1. I was hoping that it would leave it until later but the drizzle has arrived.
  2. Met app for my postcode ties in with the timing of the charts shown although is still only giving sleet rather than snow but it’s a start, that’s until the usual southerly adjustment happens and we end up just north of anything interesting. not the best of prospects for today unless drizzle is your thing but equally nothing overly heavy.
  3. A Face like Thunder yeah it can, we’re getting beat 2-0 at home to Fulham Thankfully it wasn’t my turn for the tickets.
  4. Clearance has finally arrived with a bit of sunshine poking through but still breezy. just hope it’s here for the rest of the day now.
  5. damianslaw enjoy it, it’s been horrible here for the last couple of hours. no doubt next weeks snow will set up either north or south of here but todays rain is happy to line up right across where it was supposed to be dry.
  6. Radar showed our sudden rain in the end but it was definitely playing catch-up. good job the Met didn’t need to issue a red warning for torrential drizzle and severe blandness
  7. Looks like a decent days weather coming up for the region, more so the further north you are but listening to the wind, the mild temperatures will no doubt be tempered by the gusty conditions. a usable day though. edit, we’ll that’s a definite fail on the part of the radar, nothing at all showing but looked out and we’ve got horizontal steady rain, not even drizzle, full blown rain so much for my useable day coming up
  8. Day 10 that’s where it will no doubt end up being. It seems to be a common feature in recent winters for north of the Ribble, certainly high ground getting heavy snow with anywhere south seeing sleet or cold rain. frustrating but definitely a pattern similar to the charts you showed
  9. A Face like Thunder aye it’s a shame you can’t quote like in the old days like you could in the old days
  10. Cloudy but just about dry morning turned into a cloudy but damp and drizzly afternoon. depressing stuff.
  11. BBC forecast mentioned it getting colder next week and talked about snow but then put more specifics on the geography and gave much of England a kick where it hurts by saying less cold here and probably cold rain and this is backed up by the Met app for here which hasn’t got a flake in sight as far as it goes out. can’t beat a bit of cold rain
  12. Bright but a chilly raw feel just about sums up todays conditions with some lovely pink colours in the sunset tonight. as for the excitement building about next weeks snow chances. thankfully we are into February with the noticeable lengthening of daylight so, while I’m not in full blown spring mode, I am at that point where I can take or leave a snowy spell so no major disappointment from me if a threatened blizzard ends up being downgraded into a 14c southerly breeze at the last moment. that said though, the charts look good but if a week is a long time in politics, it’s a lifetime in current UK forecasting.
  13. Up here in my part of the the Pennines, it’s got to be February 1979. A cold and snowy month throughout and sandwiched between a cold and snowy January and at times a wintry March. The most severe blizzards were around mid month and exposed roads around these parts spent more time blocked than open and although areas further south and lower down saw milder air and rain encroach at times, up here we saw virtually nothing but snow from New Year until mid March. I was barely a toddler in 1963 so easily the most severe winter I can remember.
  14. Wow it looks like we have a bit of frost outside, anyone would think it was winter
  15. @Rush2019 my 7.5c must be up there with the coldest spots in the UK today then but Scotland will still be in the prime spot for any snow on offer tomorrow while we will no doubt be just the wrong side of marginal there is only our region that can have a cold day when record breaking mild is on offer and be mild when a decent spell of cold and snow is about
  16. @Scuba steve was going to have a drive up your neck of the woods today to get an idea on holiday parks and maybe have a brisk coastal walk but if your saying it’s cold then I’m glad I didn’t bother. I’m sure they’ll be warmer days in the coming weeks although maybe not dry ones.
  17. @Alexis just been out to the bin and thought exactly the same. for exceptionally mild according to the forecaster earlier this morning it feels damn cold although a few minutes sunshine would help with things.
  18. Yellow rain warning out tomorrow for the northern two thirds of the region. horrible wet day incoming
  19. No chance of a brilliant red sunrise here. wall to wall cloud since before dawn and if anything it’s gone darker in the last hour I think it’s time I moved away from this hillside.
  20. Looks like a half decent day coming up today, dry at least and hopefully we can share in some of the sunshine and “very mild” temperatures being forecast as Monday looks to be a wet day throughout.
  21. @Joe Snow saw that on the bbc forecast this morning and they mentioned it installing so someone could end with a thoroughly wet day. l wouldn’t be surprised to see an warning issued tomorrow for somewhere in the region. they also mentioned a chance of snow across high ground but then showed temperatures that away from Cumbria and the North Pennines were far to high for anything other than rain so unless you are on the top of the Lakeland summits or Cross Fell, I think it’s just going to be wet day.
  22. Another “mild” day that feels anything but. we walked the mile or so to MIL’s with her shopping and my fingers were numb with cold then quickly followed by sore with the 30c that she always seems to have her flat at. no chance of our house ever getting that warm, certainly not until Mother Nature does it for us in the summer but the heating will have to go on for an hour to get the chill off.
  23. A cloudy, murky morning but a bit of sunshine since then although it’s limited and better described as bright rather than sunny. An improvement on the cloudy wet and windy we’ve seen for most of the week though and as already said, usable conditions for being outside. this mornings 8c hardly felt mild in the cloud, hopefully a degree or so more this afternoon will feel better if the sun keeps making an appearance.
  24. As already said, a wild few hours overnight with the wind howling through the trees outside. I don’t remember hearing much in the way of heavy rain though, just the wind but we have just had a short but sharp hail shower rattling against the windows. Other than snow, this is the type of weather conditions I always associated with winter when growing up, instability and hail showers. hopefully a quick clearance though with a better day coming up.
