  1. I’ve not opened the door yet but I’m sure I can see a bit of frost on the cars this morning. nothing unusual for the time of year I suppose but certainly a change from the usual conditions we’ve seen so far this year.
  2. Even by the standards set over the last few months, today has been a vile day. heavy, at times torrential rain since mid morning and for much of the time it was being blown horizontal by the wind. certainly not knocking the Met office but we’ve had warnings issued for conditions that didn’t come close to what we had at times today. thoroughly unpleasant is probably the most polite way to sum it up and I’m just glad that we had a couple of dry hours yesterday to clear the remains of the fence panel blown out over the weekend as It would have been scattered over the town by now. new ones come tomorrow so please can we have a reasonable day so I can get it fitted before the next mid winter storm arrives
  3. Showers since first thing up here with a bit of sunshine in between but so far it’s been more wet than bright. feels pretty warm when the sun does put an appearance though and the wind which was howling in the early hours has thankfully dropped to little more than a breeze over the last few hours.
  4. Quickly gone downhill here now with late afternoon dry and bright replaced by early evening damp and gloom. forecasted…….yes, welcome…..
  5. A bit of a shower at work this afternoon but dry other than with a bit of sunshine at times so with the weather bar set so low, not a bad day in the end. got an overnight in Blackpool at the weekend so hopefully it will coincide with the high winds and some serious high wave watching, something I haven’t witnessed for many years. just need the rain to keep away.
  6. What a horrible days weather up here. rain throughout the morning turned seamlessly to showers this afternoon and every time it looked like clearing, another even heavier one arrived and it didn’t eventually stop until teatime. even now it’s wall to wall cloud and our sunshine total can be counted in minutes on one hand. I’ve been looking at the weather for far to many years but even. I cannot remember as long a period of depressingly wet conditions as this one has been.
  7. Not a bad day up here, cloudy misty start but a bright afternoon and crucially it stayed dry so the mower has been out to give the grass its first chew and clog up of the season. even by the usual standards, this time has been brutal but at least it’s done now and vaguely resembles the type of lawn that a gardening programme would take pity on. I just hope that the next six months of cuts are a lot easier and that the grass is a lot drier.
  8. Sun dog looks like we’ve drawn the short straw up here. cloudy and misty with just the odd glimpse of brightness, hopefully it burns off before to long.
  9. I wasn’t taking that much notice of Mondays weather a couple of days ago but wasn’t the rain supposed to affect Southern parts with a decent day expected up here. now it’s looking like a Northern England and north Midlands washout with the rest of the country drier. Asking for a frustrated friend who, after a weekend doing inside jobs had outdoor plans for Monday
  10. severe snowstorm same here. gave up at about 2pm but that’s after a 7am start so not a bad effort on a day that was better suited to outdoor jobs. Managed a couple of afternoon beers but couldn’t be bothered with any more so back home again now but even though I could easily do a bit more wall papering, with my eyes and the beer, I think it’s better left until tomorrow.
  11. Lovely start to the day in the sense that it’s not raining and the sun is increasingly poking through the haze. still a bit of mist of the tops but this looks to be burning back and given that it’s still early, a decent day for anything outdoor looks to be on the cards. a morning of decorating for me and then the rest of the day is mine and if the weather holds, a few beers and a bit of watching traditional Lancashire clog dancing, not that I’ll be doing any of that myself but I’ll help with the beer drinking if asked whatever you are up to, enjoy.
  12. Iceaxecrampon go back 25/30 years and the town was packed on Easter Saturday. Still gets busy but a fair few of the pubs on the route have closed now not that I could ever manage the tradition of a pint in every one. these days I’d be lucky to just get around the town centre ones.
  13. Beefier showers this afternoon with a decent mixture of rain and hail but still plenty of blue sky and sunshine in between. No thunder as far as I’m aware though but another decent convective day and pretty typical conditions for the time of year. Thankfully tomorrow is looking better and with us actually being at home on Easter Saturday, an opportunity to spend the afternoon watching the Coconutters and a few beers around the town.
  14. Brief heavy shower coming back over the tops from Burnley but sunny again now. that’s as bad as it gets.
  15. Dry start but the forecast doesn’t offer much hope of it staying that way throughout the day. looking better tomorrow and Sunday although no doubt the weather gods will be leaving no stone unturned to give our region the lions share of any rain on offer but given the relentless crap of the last few months, even a decent two days out of the four would be a good effort, certainly for anyone with outside plans.
  16. Not bad until lunchtime but definitely a bit moist this afternoon. Thankfully it’s cleared through now and hopefully that’s as bad as it gets over the next 4 days.
  17. And as quick as it came, it went again but it left a covering on its way.
  18. Not a bad afternoon but it looks like I’ve been chased home up the valley by the mother of all showers and within 5 minutes it went from sunshine to thunder, hailstones and snow. I was going out again but I think I’ll give it a miss.
  19. Weather-history a tad on the moist side if that comes off anything like shown
  20. As already said, rain throughout the day and a generally depressing feel to things. Whether things will buck up for Easter is still to be decided but after the gloom of the last few months, it’s never been more wanted.
  21. Why couldn’t the pretty constant showers crossing here since early afternoon have been snow then at least they would have stopped either north or south and given me a dry usable few hours
  22. Plenty of sunshine today but no shortage of heavy hail and sleety showers either but no white, even on the highest tops I can see from here. all in all, could have been better but could easily have been worse as well.
  23. Sunshine and showers sort of day coming up for most with a postcode lottery of who sees the lions share of the dry, usable weather and who get soaked. It’s sunny here at the moment but in the last half hour we have had a bit of everything including heavy hail and I think that this will be the case throughout the day. hopefully a bit better tomorrow but next week and the Easter weekend onwards are looking, to put it politely, depressingly mixed.
