  1. Grey, windy, 8c. Feels more like 4c at the mo. Huge contrast to the last 2 weeks for me
  2. In Absence of True Seasons Havent been away since 1st week of November; it's been a long, boring Winter. Worked hard for 36 years; been early retired since Nov '16. Do it while we can, quite frankly
  3. V pleasant out there today, at 14c with sun and clouds. Rain forecast from 2, here, so washing out on line to hopefully dry in the balmy breeze. Off to the real heat tom morn, 2 weeks cruising around the Caribbean. When i come back i hope to see a 17/18c March with plenty of sun. Here's hoping
  4. raz.org.rain it was meant to happen last Summer, remember? Plume after plume were forecasted; instead post-June we had a July that was dire, an August that was not quite as bad as July, and late August/early Sept the sun and warmth eventually returned for a week or so. Last Summer, post-the June spell, was a complete bust, as far as expectations and forecasts were concerned.
  5. North-Easterly Blast Admittedly i looked at day time temps for Sept 10 - ranged here from 22c to 15c. 1st half esp was warm during day.
  6. Methuselah agreed. Sept 2010 was warm and dry here imby. Late Nov into December 2010 was freezing.
  7. I reck this is the 4th Winter in a row where post-mortem wise on NW, peeps have said that all the background signals were there, right synoptics, etc BUT They didnt 'deliver'. Just saying
  8. Islands Atlantic Gulf Stream A Maritime climate The End
  9. Summer8906 hmm....no need to be "increasingly fearful" though. Daffodils blooming early is hardly a trigger to increase fear. A tad dramatic, me thinks. Nature has ways of balancing things out.
  10. Summer8906 "....and getting increasingly fearful for the current weather's impact on the spring." I'm intrigued by your comment - In what way, exactly?
  11. raz.org.rain Damn well hope not. Give me a beautifully mild, and increasingly sunny March and April.
  12. A cold rain fest - no surprise there, as the Mad ones cling on to "it usually shifts south" type b.o.l.l.o.x
  13. raz.org.rain "Old wives' tales" - plenty of those on here. As i'm still relatively sane, i take the "if it's a good month, the following Summer will be sh#te" type views with a warehouse load of salt. And i defo dont "worry" about computer generated charts for any future period.
  14. SunSean yep, really hoping for early Spring warmth in early March when i return from 2 weeks in the Caribbean. We've had so much rain locally in last 6 months, a dry and sunny period from March to October would be most welcome and, of course, very warm or hot temps a la The Med.
  15. Jono E Maybe if you actually explained who this geezer is you keep mentioning (as i cannot find him via google search), AND posted your location in your handle, then peeps would take you, and your posts, more seriously. Over to you, Jono.
  16. Freeze March 2013 was our coldest month of the 12/13 'Winter' (even though meteorologically it wasnt/isnt a Winter month). However, frustratingly IMBY, it was basically bone dry esp when the really cold weather set in during that month. Almost everywhere else saw some epic snowfalls.
  17. Will be v mild here (imby) for next 7-10 days. And in London a poss 16c on Monday.
  18. According to friends on Fuert the forecast Calima didnt really materialise today. Slight change in wind direction steered it away.
  19. @danm it isnt when a post has 20 charts in it and then someone replies quoting that long chart post
  20. There's always been stormy autumns/winters in the UK, just not year after year. I actually posted a cheeky, quick Winter 23/24 forecast in another thread on here in mid-November and main theme was that we'll have stormiest winter in years.
