Ā Summer8906 hmm....no need to be "increasingly fearful" though.
Daffodils blooming early is hardly a trigger to increase fear.
A tad dramatic, me thinks. Nature has ways of balancing things out.

"....andĀ getting increasingly fearful for the current weather'sĀ impact on the spring."
I'm intrigued by your comment - In what way, exactly?

Ā raz.org.rain Damn well hope not. Give me a beautifully mild, and increasingly sunny March and April.

A cold rain fest -
no surprise there, as the Mad ones cling on to "it usually shifts south" type b.o.l.l.o.x

"OldĀ wives' tales" - plenty of those on here.
As i'm still relatively sane, i take the "if it's a good month, the following Summer will be sh#te" type views with a warehouse load of salt. And i defo dont "worry" about computer generated charts for any future period.

8c, mainly sunny.
Pleasant enough in the sun, but a defo chill in the shade.

Ā SunSean yep, really hoping for early Spring warmth in early March when i return from 2 weeks in the Caribbean.
We've had so much rain locally in last 6 months, a dry and sunny period from March to October would be most welcome and, of course, very warm or hot temps a la The Med.

Ā Jono E Maybe if you actually explained who this geezer is you keep mentioning (as i cannot find him via google search), AND posted your location in your handle, then peeps would take you, and your posts, more seriously.
Over to you, Jono.

Dull, gloomy, only 7c.
The wind makes it feel more like 3c; raw.

Ā Freeze March 2013 was our coldest month of the 12/13 'Winter' (even though meteorologically it wasnt/isnt a Winter month).
However, frustratingly IMBY, it was basically bone dry esp when the really cold weather set in during that month. Almost everywhere else saw some epic snowfalls.

According to friends on Fuert the forecast Calima didnt really materialise today. Slight change in wind direction steered it away.

If you read old accounts and writings about Britain, both from locals and foreign travellers, our Isles were rather renowned for their tempestuous, bleak and unsettled conditions during Autumn and Winter. It's a hallmark of our climate.
The question remains - are more storms occurring than in prior decades / centuries? Or are we just simply A) reporting on them more accurately and keenly, and B) shifting the barometers of what classifies as a 'storm' to begin with (which obviously would result in stats showing far more storms, if we now consider 12 hours of wind and rain in Winter (on an Island in Northern Europe with a maritime clime!) as a named storm.Ā
This isn't me dismissing climate change, more-so just questioning the degree to which every single aspect of our weather nowadays, can be directly attributed to aforementioned climate change.Ā
There's always been stormy autumns/winters in the UK, just not year after year.
I actually posted a cheeky, quick Winter 23/24 forecast in another thread on here in mid-November and main theme was that we'll have stormiest winter in years.

Bit of rain and breeze for us today then tomorrow we are back to dry weather. At least for London, this is a load of much ado about very little.
I was having a peep at the MOD thread and honestly I don't get the stress about looking at charts waiting for snow. Fun (or lack of it), yes, but stress????
It worries me when i read "i'm worried about those charts".
Worried!! Why would anyone worry? Frustrated, yes, if you're seeing charts that are forecasting weather you dont like or disappointed, but "worried", seriously?!

Could be, but early Feb at 18c, luverly.

Must admit it is getting a bit overwhelming with all the plane reports. Iād much rather have local reports from on the ground, personally.Ā
Ok. It's still very windy here
