1. the strongest tornado recorded in the uk is where i live portsmouth in 1810 it was a f4 wind speed of 213 to 240 mph. that is amazing but im a little skeptical on wether the facts are right not that a tornado hit portmouth but on it f4 status lol. but still ive been very close to one on hayling island but never had the tec gear i have today, which gutts me because it was the most awsome thing ever but there be another time and i will be ready
2. its is clear that ice has declined in a big way over the last 5 years but a recovery is always possible as this shows: as you can see pretty massive melts over the year but im still convinced ice will make a comeback in years to come if cooling continues.
3. arctic ice is melting ofcoarse it is, in summer it melts in autum winter and spring it freezes its normal so dont panic spring is only just over lol, so trying to predict how much melt will take place is silly right now because nobody really knows. ok so a warm plume is taking effect lets face it has there never been warm plumes in the arctic before over millions of years?. so 2007 record melt and today a recovery thats what the facts show, so in the last couple of years a recovery has setin, if trends continue over the comming years then ice will become thicker still and in the coming years could continue to grow but where have to wait and see if this happens. but if it where to continue to melt then what the hell do you expect us to do? build huge freezers and make our own ice and use more of the worlds resources, silly answer but the main answer is theres nothing we can do, gw there is nothing we can do about this either. but im firmly in the opion yes if ice where to keep melting at recod pace like 2007 then soon enough sea ice will be gone perhapes within a decade which is not impossible but unlikely and if this where to happen make sure you have big ponds and gardens because the polar bears need a home awww. but on the otherside of the coin there seems to be recovery happening each year since 2007 it does not take 1 or 2 years to recover 10years or more of already melted ice, so some can scream oh no the ice is cracking up its going to melt at record pace thats it lol. no thats not it because if we where to continue in the years ahead to cool then it would recover and a dramatic ice advance is not impossible either and in some places glacers are growing again, and around the world cold is hitting the headlines not just here in the uk but all over the world. ok some will say that the recent years cooling is related to la nina event im not so sure yet, because a couple of years is by far not enough time to come to a agreement over wether its man made gw or natural cycle i go for the later if you asked me but i could be wrong. whatever happens the ice will continue to shrink and grow as it has over millions of years, even if it where to completely melt there has been less ice before so the question is why?but it returned with avegance. we could all be sitting here talking about there is not enough co2 in the atmosphere the globe is cooling we need to work on a way of keeping the globes temps up, or where all going to freeze to death but where not its all about warming because this has been happening but still far to soon to know the answers to why. i think man is to big for its boots and we think we know the answers to everthing that will happen within our universe nope we dont. but what we do have is the ability to lern but one thing im sure of is climate will take many many more years to workout, and even then something else will come along and once again science will have to be rewrote. certainly plenty of doom and gloom in here but i was always taught to worry about it when it happens, and ok melting has happened, but not enough to convince me that its time to live on top of a mountain. the years ahead are going to be intresting what with maybe global cooling and more arctic ice recovery. and its far to soon to be flapping over the warm plumbe thats invading a (PARTS) of the arctic, its not the end of the world and could possibly not melt all that much, there could be more freezing next week up there, nobody knows not even thease super duper computer models. http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/
A slow start to the spring melt season thats the headlines 4th of may good news lol.
lets wait and see what happens next winter maybe if where lucky it may well beat the 1979-2000 average and its very possible this could happen.
4. and 2007 does seem to be the year when this large ice melt in the arctic became headline news although other years have spoke about rapid ice melt but as we all no theres a fine balance in over doing a story and linking it to gw. it would seem that 08/09 arctic recovery 06/07 record melts would boil down to being that more time is needed to see and gather data, after all what if this gw is a natural cycle and that we are indeed at the start of a cooling cycle, maybe in tens years time things will be much warmer or maybe it will stay as they are today or maybe things will be much colder, i think the later seems more likely but there is so much information supporting gw that it could well cloud judgment on the real outcome. so its only fair that the same amount of research and resources should be put into the cooling theory which indeed has in the last few years or so but its taken sometime and does not get the media hype that warming does. most likely because warming has happened over the last couple of decades but all this clouds the fact that climate cycles are most likely more to blame than ourself this does not mean we should not look after our planet.
5. thats fine this is what the forum
6. i was trying to say testing such a small area of the arctic then comming to a conclusion is silly. its a massive area and data is supporting a ice gain. so im not sure if you where attacking my ability to read news from all around the world about the cooling subject. but its opion im not expert but i listen and read enough to make my mind up and nobody is going to push me down the gw path, after all gw was ment to be causing all sorts of problems by now and the ipcc predictions on warming are totally of the mark. add the predictions of massive ice melts over years when infact it never happen 07 was a bad year for melt. but we been in warmer climate many times in earths history and cooler to. take the sun ok so predictions where for a normal solar cycle nope the sun did what it wanted, then the scientist are now wondering why? considering the sun has been studied most likely longer than gw yet they got that wrong. my point is things happen and climate is more complex and clever than any man or machine. B) :o
7. im sorry but the arctic circle is massive, and ok theres no taking away they risked there lives and endured suffering and its been such a massive drive over the last ten years in regards to gw. and ofcoarse there has been massive ice melt in places but its very silly to jump the gun and say the whole of the arctic is melting. its all to do with a normal cycle warming and cooling and i might be wrong but we are heading into a cooling cycle. 08/09 ice made a good recovery and what we must not do is be taken down the wrong path, by this i mean ice is going to be thinner than 10years ago so the messurements taken on this expedition are most likely going to show a loss compard to 10years ago. now the messurements will show a increase in the last couple of years perhapes not exciting ammounts but enough, id think it would take atleast 10 years to get this ice back to normal so the next 10 years will be intresting. maybe 08/09 ice comeback maybe be just a lucky year but i dont think so, i think ice growth will continue over the comming years due to global cooling ive seen and herd enough to say im pretty sure cooler climate is due to happen sooner or later, if its not starting now it will.
8. and the bbc met office ipcc nasa infact most of the big organisations that deal with climate change are bias, there not going to spend millions of pounds dollars on something thats not going to stick so they have to continue to cover there warming theorys. the funniest thing is alot of thease organisations we have herd of, but on the flip side of the coin we hear very little about cooling because the media only hear what the big fish say. after all gw is a massive money spinner and in future times could cause big problems in itself. warming has happened cooling will to then what for the big fish.
9. agreed this subject is very much close to my heart and also something that is happening cooling and warming has gone on for millions of years fact. we have had our warming now its time to cooldown and it is not dramatic cooldown but slow process also warming has happened but nowhere as extreme as warmist suggested we will see in ten years where we are at, as for ice being gone in ten years well i herd alot about arctic ice melt many years ago and its still here, so my advice would be dont bother to listen to warming tosh tide is turning if it is not then it will sooner or later. scaremongering is what it is, warming is real and so is cooling but nature is more powerfull than man.
10. its funny you talk about drought and also mention that its been many years since our last one considering where in a gw period lol so they say. but of coarse drought can hit anytime like you said, but im fairly adimant that there be no drought although there seems to be a lack of rain for sometime couple this with a unusal cold winter but a rather wet last summer, it would seem the last couple of years or so are seeing change im also in the opion this summer wont be as hot and dry as alot are suggesting, but where have to see if im right droughts seem more common in long periods of high pressure and with the azores high pressure being pushed about a fair bit in the last couple of years add in the inconsistant jet stream flow, id say drought periods now seem more likely in winter rather than summer but its still early days and it will be intresting to see what happens in all season in the next couple of years. could just be a 10year cycle could be a longer cycle. thats my opion guys and could be way of the mark with my thoughts but hey i take that risk lol :o intresting you said about the wet summers we have had, also add the effect of cloud cover maybe a little far fetched but it would seem its been pretty cloudy for sometime so evopration little less than it would be if a long dry hot spell where to take hold. all this said who knows whats going to happen, i just feel following the recent years trends might start to tell a story of its own, well have to wait either way im happy weather is weather it all intresting to me.
11. it was only a matter of time before the alantic wakes up, thats why im very skeptical of the met o summer forecast, mind you the jet strength and positioning will pay a key part in the alantics drive and all thease outputs are now starting to show a stronger alantic drive once again how long this lasts for is anyones guess. but it does seem fairly consistant that the jet has played a part in the last couple of summers. but not exclusively the jet, azores high seem to be pushed away fairly easy and never really building with strength there for giving us your average type of summer this is what i feel will happen again this summer, but of coarse i could be wrong but if this happens then winter could also be intresting. so far winter was early and fairly settled with dominating high pressure systems, alantic was fairly weak allowing us to cool fairly well here in the uk, but this said europe as a whole was not that cold. so maybe this was a localised event here in the uk, but it will be intresting to see if trends continue even though a el nino is ment to be forming, as i thought el ninos warm our planet fairly well im not sure and dont really understand how this effect the world overall. anyway for now the alantic is building energy, and is ready to pounce
12. lol yeah i agree nothing like a good storm
13. ok bbq will not be used as much as some recent years more so in the 90s when summers where hot year in year out although not every year. id cut the crap and stick with a more under hyped forecast of, we can expect some hot days but not long heatwaves with less unsettled weather from time to time but not as bad as last year, but continuing the trends of recent years. and i will not listen to anything or anybody that suggests this summer will be hit with long length 30c weather. and the met office have not been all that good in the last few years what with the gw hype it was only a matter of time before the hot tune returned. but with net weather i feel a much more realistic summer forecast. for years i watch both the met o shorterm and seasonal forecast chop and change so much, so please id take it with a pinch of salt. looking forwards to few days here and there where it will feel summer like and also have raincoat ready for the return of the alantic and shifted jet.
14. not uncommon to have hot weather in summer. but id be very carefull as seen with the model outputs for sometime things can change and suprise and catch even the met office out. and did so last spring started lovely ended up with a pretty soggy summer. im sorry i do not agree with the met office summer outlook why well i dunno!, because im not as experienced as most but i go with gut feeling and trends and over the past few years its been pretty poor and feel this will continue. and i strongly feel met o will stay bias towards the warming trends and then the media follow suit like the express today. this goes on far to much and therefor the truth can be clouded with the trend always towards hot and dry. one thing i do notice is met o shorter term forecast chop and change far to much, and maybe this summer might turn out warm and dry but i dont think it will be as hyped up as they predict its silly to predict temps for 3 or 4 months ahead. but if it happens i take it on the chin like a man but the alantic has not been all that active for sometime and has to come back to life sooner or later couple that with the jetstream antics then im on the fence. or perhapes slightly leaning torwards unsettled. well i hope a hot summer dont ruin the chances of a colder winter.
15. ive got a weather report for you daily express at it again. it would seem there making the reports after the met office summer prediction which in my opion is a rather brave call. how much egg this summer i wonder.
16. im not worried change is apon us.
17. ive just gone through the last month or so of volcanic activity in this forum and im amazed at the amount of activity thats going on. some brillant pictures excellent posts seems theres plenty to watch out for  .
18. its amazing to think that all this talk of global warming when extremes like this where going on back then, i wonder if we had extreme heat and cold since then although i expect there really rare events. but very intresting maybe where going to experience cold like this again sometime in the future and heat to after long over due cooler period.
19. intresting i just read in another forum on here that it was rather cold and rather warm. Aberystwyth Max: 23.3C [2nd] Min: -8.3C [15th] this must mean high co2s and gw taking effect lol. i mean it was that warm in the none tec era none of this human gw makes any sence to me twisted subject media get there pennies worth they do not help this subject, but there are alot of people out there ie forecasters that have been around for many years and have seen the climate change in there lifetime, and been told stories from there fathers and alot of them would agree warming has happened they also agree this is a natural event nothing more nothingless.
20. i wake you up in fifty years or more, dont know what you might see when you wake up but just make sure you keep your heating on lol gotta feeling it might be rather chilly.
21. ok i agree its fine just delete my post i just say one thing i strongly feel cooler times are ahead. and im not here to cause trouble and i apoliges.
22. my conclusions comes from alot of things mainly the fact that low sun activity in the past caused dramatic change in the climate. i go with cooling because we have had warming not exclusively because of the sun but a fair bit would have caused warming, and i dont dissagree that warming has happened. but it would seem that the climate has cooled due to the deep minima or could it be la nina or could it be a number of other factors. is it about to get boiling hot and are we all going to swealter, well if this is the case then switch off your tvs computers and any electrical items and lets get back to basics because honestly where all guilty including every single person on this forum unless your electric is hydro or powered by millions of hampsters in a giant wheel lol. but seriously cleaner planet yes. jump the gun and predict something thats going to happen in 50 to 100 years why try we can only just about predict a week of two in our forecast. oh yeah icpp warming will be 5c in so many years well they got that wrong, oh yeah nasa goal post moved a fair few times, oh yeah lets not forget met office there longterm forecast lol yep got that right maybe move the goal post 1 year but 2 years in a row. our climate has been in a natural cycle and has not changed all that much if you take into account warming and cooling trends of the past. im not ingorant i do recycling, i do my bit for planet earth as im sure most of you do, but to rob people of there money for a cause that has not yet been proven is wrong and theres plenty of idears from both cooling camp and warming camp the problem is what happens if one is wrong what if we do plunge into a very cold climate then what, well to be honest the s**t will hit the fan because thease are hard times that are looking likely to last for sometime, and people are not going to be happy if in the future it turns out to be a complete con. everyday all i hear and read is ice will be gone from the arctic in 10years and now there picking on the antarctic media just looking for that extra cash, after all the public are mugs and listen to this crap well not all but most. al gore is a politcal figure and most people in politics are worthless pieces of dog pooh its all natural gw is a cycle and this warm cycle is winding down, but it will be back of coarse and is it any different to the 1970s ice age theory of coarse not and what happened they where wrong and whats happening now its cooling off and thats that, just another way of making money and to scare people is how it works, oh and what about your childrens lives they say. well if you listen and think its right then fair enough but if you think where about to be burnt up by our own planet then you might aswell believe that planet x is going to enter our solar system and cause havok what aload of rubbish although its intresting stuff i like to sit there and read but i like to look to our brightest biggest star for the answers. sorry for my english and typing skills are terrible. and i do agree the chart is feeble perhapes is it had been 10years worth maybe it would have been more credible.
23. intresting to see where still cooling. always new and always will think the icpp are ott, one thing i do repect out of all this is a cleaner planet. as for gw well the planet will cool and warm regardless of who says what, i dont listen to much gw bulls**t because as we have seen things change regardless of what scientist say or think. climate is way more advanced than 100years of tec so more time to lern from mother nature because no matter what she will spank all of us sooner or later. the sun is the key and if things carry on as they are then gw just made a fair few quid out of people that really dont have a clue. because if im honest i dont have a clue i dont have any answers and neither do any of us, all we do know is we had a decade of warming and now a few years of cooling why well no one really knows, all this and that crap which means nothing when nature just comes up and laughs at us calling us fools. we know to little apart from the sun being a climate driver or so its said, and even that information is sketchy at times but we are in a minimum so my answer is lets wait and see jury still out after all thease years on gw. oh yeah and the chart makes me laugh look at the icpp projections lol.
24. ipcc bla bla bla what aload of rubbish they have produced over the years and now theres no warming what next?. ok the answer is they will along with the massive following of bias specialists carry on with the gw hype if there is one subject that gets my backup its this one. our planet will cool and warm for many more years, but for now colder climate could well be a possiblity our sun drives our climate fact, so dont expect scoarching hot summers regularly for sometime, and its likely that winters will become colder each year until the sun awakes from its slumber. ok so it could awake but most likely not, afterall this one caught out the clever people at nasa who have moved the goal post so many time as has the ipcc so any scientist that sits there and fills my head with over 10years of bullcrap, then it turns out different then its clear to see they need more time to lern about our planet maybe another 100years or so and even then i don think they could predict the events that crop up out of the blue. our climate and our solar system is more complex than man thinks so time will tell either way, but like i said warming and cooling is nothing new and the gwo is something that also has been going on for many millions of years and predictions in this have proven there not accurate either, goal posts been moved here to. man is trying to be clever but its being out foxed by something that is fair more powerfull than man.
25. i was just reading about a lower hurricaine season this year only 6 likely. but the intresting part came when is was suggested that the tropical alantic has cooled unusualy. (along with an unusual cooling of tropical Atlantic sea surface temperatures it observed in recent months) i just for some reason found this part rather intresting. im sure this sort of thing does happen but could this be the start of a new trend after all if the tropics get cooler surely this inturn would mean our warm ocean source wont be as mild cooling us down which i strongly feel is going to happen anyway regardless of ocean converyor.
