Was one of the best surprises I can remember was not even a hint of wintry weather forecast here!
If we don’t see any wintry weather for the rest of the winter I’ll be glad this happened!
Another dull, murky day to add to the list, thankful for the nice weekend just gone, just some brighter days would do nicely. Currently 5.6°C
Max 6.8°C
Min 5.6°C
Rinse and repeat pattern, at least this time there might be more polar maritime air in the mix unlike the first half where it was constantly over 10°C here in the south!
This is what we need to see small changes in the shorter range rather than looking 240h+ every day this winter.
The shorter range changes can have a big impact further down the line but until we resolve the timing of the low on Monday night its best to keep an open mind.
I could be straw clutching but aren't we all at this stage of the winter.
The only thing left that could make this winter even worse is if a proper Bartlett high sets up in February, hopefully it won't come to that.
Still plenty of time left this winter as I tend to include March as a winter month, because you tend to see colder weather in March than December on average.
So if we were going with the MJO as a driver to are next pattern change then another ridge should set up again very close to the UK in early February as there is a lag time isn't there?
I find March to be more of a winter month than December so it will not be any surprise if a cold March does turn up or even April as well as the very cold Stratosphere finally begins to weaken and a more amplified pattern begins to take hold!
