I am also fed up with this continuing mild weather! However, I am pleased with the existence of the cold pool east of Newfoundland. It's been there all autumn and if anything it has intensified somewhat in recent days.
Karyo
Yes Karyo, i clocked that, do you think that could come in to play for us this winter? NSSC cheers

People that say about every cold winter. No the UK wouldn't shut down. After the initial snow the streets would be cleared and we'd be back to normal. Like February in London.
Maybe oneday we will get the chance to find out.

Nope me neither. Getting a new one for christmas & putting it on the front of my house which faces NW.
That means I will have 4 boxes on walls facing South, East & North-ish.
They say give it 2yrs before moving them if you have'nt got any in residence.
The Male bats will be looking for Winter roosting sites at this current time, so maybe one will find your box. Summer is also a good time for bats to look for roosting boxes.
Give it time.
Cheers , and let us know if you have any luck. FF

If that forecast stays the same... wow, happy days or what! A cold North westerly airflow can knock on my door anyway.

I can't see anywhere that anyone said there wouldn't be any cold spells until February.. however the pasychology is interesting, I can see many people getting irritated, due to most likely chances being of a milder than average winter. Of course even people with very limited meteorological knowledge know that a mild winter doesn't mean there will be no snow, it's fairly obvious there will be at least one snow event in the UK this winter.
i hope the one snow event is on the 25th december, Just had a fiver @ 7/1.
