Looks like Salisbury / new forest area is the place to be for T-storms occuring right now.
In Devizes and we have thunder and lightning and heavy rain... thunder and lightning is on off... stops for about 10 mins then starts again
-
i think you all have a good chance as iv had thunder and lightning in devizes wiltshire so it should build as goes north east?
-
Thunderrrrr lightningggg update Few rumbles of thunder and saw 3 fork lightning strikes... Was a nice surprise
-
Ian Fergusson on BBC Points West spoke of the heavy rain moving North with thundery element possible in the East of the region (Wiltshire/Dorset)
so what that means for parts further East I'm not sure.
What has surprised me is how there seems likely to be (in this region) a very wet period between around 07.00-13.00 and then almost a complete
clearance to a sunny afternoon/evening.
Sounds good... think il get up nice and early to walk the dogs to avoide the rain/Hopefully Thunder...

Amber alert: possible aurora

AuroraWatch UK status:
Minor geomagnetic activity
Might see something in Scotland... If only it was stronger.

Would be nice for Devizes to join in the fun some time this year....
-
I know... Adding up the totals around this area is 5 inches this week alone. Tweeted the MetOffice asking the certainty of this, since we are still far away, and they just referred me to the warnings. Hopefully it will weaken by then.
Iv tweeted Ian Fergusson he normally replies... fields round here r already water logged

Well It says "Take action"
So. Given its a Gov website I would take that as " The Gov is saying Take action"
I would suggest you take action... Whatever that "action" is mean to be is beyond me.... Run around in circles shouting ITS RED! ITS RED! ?
Maybe its go buy a boat? Help the economy out? Move things upstairs... R go jump in the puddles?
RED warning issued for parts of Devon & Cornwall for heavy rain valid from midnight. Up to 100mm rain possible: Of twitter... 100 mm!!!

Not sure it's move East but seems to be expanding giving that impression?
Smaller cells developing within the drier slot over East Somerset too, I wonder if they will end up joining the main band over Wiltshire?
The next hour will tell all!
Are you having a storm now? Quite an active lot of strikes between Devizes-Marlborough in the last half hour.
All i heard was about two rumbles of thunder and saw nothing
-
Scratch that! My wife has reported lightning and thunder from just North of Salisbury where she is at work.
Now firmly hoping that aforementioned line edges N/NW!
Really??? The red echoes should hit Devizes soon... Interesting!
-
Andy Devizes has missed out on rain aswell... In 1st line about 2 miles and same again on this one... Now if there were thunder storms i would be fuming! lol
-
Very dark sky here in Swindon now...Hopefully see soemthing soon.
Im hoping aswell... hoping that cell near melksham continues to grow missed it by 2 miles... but cant here anything from it so just rain i guess
-
Apparently Newcastle Uni has suffered flooding - I'm supposed to be going to their open day tomorrow, should be interesting to venture into town later!

I don't know, they didn't give a description on Twitter. My guess is somewhere in Leicestershire. I've never seen so many large hail pictures appear from this country in my life!

Ian Fergusson â€@fergieweather
Full modified UKMO run now in. T-storm threat looks v small for W Country Thurs AM; indeed, many districts missing heavy showers entirely.
Ian Fergusson â€@fergieweather
UKMO highlights threat of severe storms with large hail tomoro afternoon E Midlands & E/NE England. Could turn v lively in those areas....
-
Ian Fergusson â€@fergieweather
W COUNTRY: New UKMO model run indicative of slightly stronger signal for heavy, poss thundery downpours into W areas by middle of night on..
