  1. A stunning evening - not a cloud in the sky and lovely and warm! Love this weather - where you don't need the sun to keep warm enough - even into the evening. The garden is very happy and it is so much easier when I can control the water input rather than it be constantly soaked. Fair few plants suffered mould from constant damp. Just hope any change to cool/showery is only brief as we really need the warmth and sun.
  2. What cloud we had has melted away to leave almost completely clear skies. Stunning day! Still not beaten warmest day of the year @ 26.7c in May.
  3. Mostly sunny with cloud coming and going. Very breezy but temp topped at 26.3c (warmest since May!) but dropped back a bit now to 25.4c.
  4. Perfect sunny start to the day. Low of 15.1c currently 22.7c already - lovely! If only I wasn't at work...
  5. A casual reader of this thread might think 90% of weather 'enthusiasts' don't like anything about 22c! Of course that ain't true and unlike some of you I don't only operate efficiently in a small 5c range of temperatures - I like the extremes at both ends of the spectrum. Where's the fun in 'average' all the time? Winters at 4c and summers at 20c... bit boring all the time right? (although the summer end much more 'usable'). Enjoy this rare bit of warmth and you cool lovers - all you need to do is cope for a few days a year with a bit of warmth as for 90-95% the time you're living in a *cool climate* location! Try being a warm or heat lover in this country if you want something to moan about!
  6. 23.8c max currently 23.1c with plenty of sunshine and a little cloud around. A strong wind blowing but lovely once you're out of it. Wonderful!
  7. Lovely warm & mostly sunny morning. Feels like summer! 14.9c the low now 21.7c.
  8. A lovely sunny day with a little cloud around but that strange 'blue' colour I've heard so much about! 20.3c.
  9. A very chilly night down to 10.9c (10c has been my coldest July night taken this year and in 2007). Lightbulb sunshine at the moment and 14.2c. Hoping cloud will break enough this morning to warm the house up as its ruddy freezing in here this morning!
  10. Cold & very wet morning - absolutely horrible conditions this morning. Sooner we get rid of this awful weather the better. 12.8c currently and I'm in the house drying next to gas fire after being forced to turn back due to rain.
  11. Yes isn't it wonderful - finally time to get out of 'winter mode' of hiding inside and time to get a brief few weeks of outdoor weather!
  12. Already one of these in seasonal area so we'll close this.
  13. Really looking forward to this incoming warm spell - everyones on about it at work! My garden can't wait!
  14. You can indeed wear extra clothing but on a bike its more a case of boiling in sweat internally under your layers whilst your extremities turn to frozen lumps of flesh. Winter cycling is not fun in general especially if there's black ice about (had one or two nasty falls on that stuff before). Then add traffic and darkness... not fun. Do understand though - doing heavy work in humid conditions can be tough but like the tough winter cycling you just gotta deal with it (and then moan about it on a forum to feel better!).
  15. Yes I've had to announce it on my facebook and at work - so much excitement there is! Been looking forward to writing that status update for months! If I can 'man up' to -9c on my bike at 0730 on a Monday morning in December then you can 'man up' to a cloudy 21c in July! Except in that I'd be the stronger!
  16. I think you'll find that will quickly change if you continue to speak to people like that.
  17. I'd probably agree - a majority of folks don't want a lot of heat but as it is so rare in the UK its not worth worrying about. Its like dreading bank holidays which are rares as hens teeth! A lot of 'heat dread' that some get probably comes down to your house and how hot it gets. A modern insulated British home isn't designed for warm weather whereas a sturdy Victorian place will do well (but horribly cold in winter!).
  18. I feel for you - it's been a terrible year for gardening and much much worse if you're livelihood depends on it. For me it's just a hobby but the first year I've really got 'serious' about it - what a year I picked! Fingers crossed we can get a decent August and September to ripen off what crops have made it. For some crops the remaining growing season is now too short even if the weather does pick up - just have to chalk it up to experience and hope next year is better - well surely it can't be any worse!
  19. Think you might find yourself in a pretty small group in that view - especially this summer! It's been 6 years since we've had 30c+ for more than a few hours or so - long overdue!
