  1. Another lovely day with a bit more cloud around taking the heat out of the sun a bit. But with 23c max and still 21c now it's still a decent summers day.
  2. Absolutely we've had 3 weeks out of the last 9 months! Yes a hint of sarcasm but yes not bad for what was mostly the cooler half of the year. This past warm spell has been fantastic as it has fallen when the days are at their longest (October & March warmth was only really useful at weekends which limited it quite a lot) and has gone right across a weekend. It hasn't been that 'hot' as such with air temperatures not feeling excessive at all. Yes under direct lunchtime sunlight it was too much but then you'd expect that. Now if only it could have held on another week...
  3. Yes think I'll need it.. What a foolish plan I had attempting a bbq on a UK bank holiday! Anyone ready to give the weekend forecast a stab? To me it looks coolest on Fri/Sat then the northerly (yuk) flow eases for a time during Sunday before getting going again later on Monday. GFS cloud forecasts say clear but not sure I can believe that. 13-14c is predicted but if sunny I think we'll easily see 16-18c. Key thing is - will it be sunny?
  4. Yes my eyes are on Sunday for street party and bbq here. So long as its dry & there's some sun around it'll be ok.
  5. A lovely warm evening - still 23.1c at 2020 and showing no sign of dropping! I'm glad of the warm evening as during the weekend evenings turned cool quite quickly. Didn't matter after all day in the sun but on a Monday of course the evening is the only time to enjoy it! What a fantastic period of weather and goes a long way to making up for such a dire April/most of May. I just wish the Jubilee weekend was better as I'm having a load of people round for a bbq on Sunday afternoon and will be gutted if it turns out naff after all this perfect weather.
  6. Temps carried on rising making this the hottest day of the year. Currently 26.5c. Surprising given the sun is now behind a fair chunk of cloud. Feeling more humid too. A nice evening to sit out ahead I think!
  7. Close to the hottest day but cloud has finally begun to appear - a strange sight after such clear skies for so long. 25.3c at the mo. Got to beat 25.8c from last Thursday to be the hottest.
  8. Another brilliant day out there - what a shame today wasn't the bank holiday! 24.5c so far beating the whole weekend already. Sadly the last proper warm day for a while - I just hope next weekend will at least be worthy of an afternoon bbq even if not an evening one.
  9. It will be called 'glorious' since to the majority (well most) that's exactly what it is - a great spell of weather. Some people don't like heat I know so you get the odd comment of "it's a bit too hot to me" or "it's good for beer drinking or sitting but not working", etc but wanting to "curl up and die" is a really over the top reaction to a bit of sunshine. I really really dislike November in general - the plunge into darkness, the much more dangerous and unpleasant cycle journeys to/from work, the expense of heating, the trapping of being indoors most of the time and so on. But I don't curse every moment of it and put myself through months of misery and want to top myself! Sure a good moan is had on a regular basis but I ain't going to spend 50-60% of my life suicidal about the season. If nothing else because in the UK the cold season is much longer than the warm one!
  10. Yeah I was just thinking the same - this would have been a perfect bank holiday. Instead its looking comparatively naff next week with much cooler air around. Be ok if we get plenty of sunshine but not it'll be pretty grim for getting the bbq out.
  11. 24.5c here so a degree up on yesterdays max so far. Seeking a little shade for a while now as taken far too much radiation whilst out working in the garden. Perfect air temperature but can't stay in direct sunlight for too long!
  12. Here we go again - another gorgeous day and good enough to get me out of bed at 0730 for a jog! Cooler over night min 12.6c but nicely back up to 20.6c already and with next to no wind at all.
  13. Oh I'd love to be watching the sunset right now... Of course on the other side of the coin is that by 6am our bedroom is drenched in sunlight so not sure you'd really enjoy the swap that much! You might enjoy how quickly the house gets cool though - the living room only made it to 23c because I'd opened the windows to warm it up. If you were so inclined you could keep it closed up (curtains and all) by day and open by night and never reach 20c on any day this week.
  14. I face E-SE roughly which means lots of morning sunlight but rapidly is goes mid to late afternoon. Last bit of sunlight I got by squeezing myself into the corner of the garden today was 5:30pm. That's just no good as even now only a few weeks from the longest day I'm only seeing sunlight in my house at weekends or as I'm rushing around heading to work. Need to move I think!
  15. Wow lot of negativity here... Go outside and walk around and notice you're at complete odds to most of the population! For me this weather makes me happy, relaxed and feeling free to do whatever I like. I enjoy my house being filled with fresh air instead of the usual stuffyness and the ability to have a larger proportion of my body exposed to the air! I do agree the intensity of solar radiation this last two days is very high and if you are out in it is you cannot escape it. For those that bemoan humidity - that does at least temper the intense radiation of today which I won't deny is blinding the hell out of my poor eyes! To me moaning about hot weather in the UK is the same as moaning about all that annoying snow we get that just drives you crazy interfering with your daily routine for 3 or 4 days a year - yeah totally over the top...
  16. Another lovely day but the coolest of this warm spell at 23.5c. It's felt the warmest to me as I've been out in it before during the daytime before 5pm at long last! The wind has got up in last half hour - a pain cause it'll rapidly cool my house below window opening temperature in next hour or two. Still back to my garden, now entirely in shade, to get some jobs done. Next place I move needs to face west!
  17. Glorious day and so lovely to be outside enjoying it! Afternoon of sunshine drinking ahead!
  18. Yes I can imagine it's been a terrible week for you and more to come! Still you've had it good for a couple of months now so time for me to take the reigns... I'll hand them back in September don't worry! Shame the windiest day is tomorrow but still with that strong sun it'll be fine anyway.
  19. It's howling at times through Nottingha, Folk sat out having their dinner in town are loosing everything not nailed to the table!
  20. Any thoughts on this wind - will it be stronger or not tomorrow? Seems like its got stronger as the day has gone on. Just trying to decide if I need to take action to stop my greenhouse flying away!
  21. It's really very windy here - easterlies are always hard to battle against on my way home! It's lifting up my greenhouse as well - needs to die down a bit!
  22. Yeah around here a strong easterly will keep the temps down a bit as the North Sea isn't so far away. Still at least there's no low cloud to ruin the mornings!
  23. I reserve judgement of todays weather to this evening when I finally get to enjoy it. Daytime it's much clearer and less humid then yesterday - but cooler too. But this may create an evening that ends up too cool later on especially with this wind. But then again it might not so we shall see!
  24. Temps falling off now after max of 24.5c. Tomorrow looks a shade cooler again sadly but still lovely I'm sure. Could have done with the coolest day yesterday really instead it was the hottest!
  25. 24.5c the max today (so far) and lovely sunny skies although quite a wind on at times. Office is boiling and I feel like a caged rat desperate to go out and play! Home (beer) time cannot come soon enough!
