  1. By 10pm it's dimming a fair bit, by 11pm its still glowing to the north and by midnight its only as faint glow to the north. Nothing will beat when I went to Iceland in June - it didn't get dark at all! Sun still shining at 11pm, then down it dips for a couple of hours 12-2am then back up it comes! Take a look for yourself late tonight here: http://www.inspiredbyiceland.com/icelandlive/#geysir - I love watching this geyser going off!
  2. Lovely day at long last - amazing what happens when you loose the stiff easterly wind! Still fresh so will be lovely until the temps drop like a stone early evening time. Shame I'm sat boiling in the office until then really! 19.9c max which is in the acceptable category - another 3-4c would make it spot on!
  3. Certainly a vast improvement on recent days with plenty of sunshine without the constant low cloud. There's a keen and cool breeze on so it doesn't feel very warm unless you're out the breeze and in the sun. Great weather for doing things outdoors during the daytime but sadly not much use when you don't get home till 6/7pm by which time it's turning cold. Always the problem with these fresh summer setups unfortunately.
  4. A cold night down to 9.4c (yes in my city location in June that IS cold!) but rapidly risen to 16c so far under clear sunny skies. So finally a day not laden with North Sea low cloud...?
  5. Somewhat longer sunny periods after about 3pm making it feel much more pleasant than the cold, draughty and grey morning. Max of 18.8c now 16.7c and feeling fresh. Feels like a decent April day but a barely acceptable June day.
  6. Now 18.3c which is starting to head towards acceptable (I consider 18c+ as 'acceptable', 21c+ as 'decent', 23c-25c as 'perfect' in mid June with <16c as poor). Still very cloudy albeit with the odd glimmer of sunshine. Still a nagging chilly breeze so ok if you're moving but certainly not sitting out weather!
  7. Nothing like lovely summer weather here - cool, cloudy and breezy. Only a smattering of sunshine from time to time. Yes it's dry which is a definite bonus, but its too cold, too windy and too cloudy to be considered good summer weather. If this is 'good' - I'm going to Spain! Currently 15.8c which isn't bad... for late April!
  8. A sunny start but quickly clouded over now its cool and dull but dry. Currently 14.3c- rubbish!
  9. Not me - I like the best summer weather late May to mid July when daylight is at its peak. Sure I'd like August good too but if I had to choose I'd prefer the best weather around the solstice.
  10. A pleasant day with some sunny spells after a light shower early this morning. Lovely to sit out in being pleasant in both cloudy & sunny periods. That's the great thing about summer - 'average' weather is still very nice!
  11. Pleasant sort of day with some sunny spells and a max of 20.5c. With less cloud it'd be better but still - not a bad day at all.
  12. Perhaps you'd like to point to examples in the charts to back up what you're saying? We might see where you're coming from then.
  13. Turned into a gorgeous evening here - lots of sunshine and feeling warmer albeit fresh. Perfect for having dinner & pint outside the pub!
  14. Finally it's turned nice again - sun blazing away with temps in high teens. Not quite as good as last Fri (which was near perfect) but a definite improvement on yesterday!
  15. Unfortunately north-easterly winds are not generally associated with sunshine nor pleasant weather as this week has clearly shown with constant low cloud & drizzle. A very weak easterly flow will indeed bring sunshine/low humidity assuming any low cloud can burn off. So hopefully we can get the centre of the high nearer to us and not too far north & west
  16. Not around here since we got only a very limited amount of snow cover (probably only 5cm over the whole winter) and since then next to no rain at all. It's been a very dry and cold/cool 6 months around here. However last weekend/early this week certainly addressed that with bucket loads falling causing localised flooding. But if it were to stop now then it'll quickly turn very dry again.
  17. Amazingly the sun is out and sky mostly blue. I suspect it won't last all day with winds coming from the 'muck' direction (NE). Glad to get any though - at least it might take the chill off my house a bit. Felt very chilly as I got up this morning - get enough of that for 8+ months of the year so don't want it in June! Now 14.2c after 12.6c low.
  18. Dull and drizzly and feeling muggy. Distinctly unexciting and exactly what you don't want during summer! Very north-easterly feeling...
  19. Very heavy showers on and off this afternoon - very unpleasant conditions if you're out in them. Hoping for a dry slot to get home in!
  20. A miserable dull & damp start and feeling cool. About as grim as it gets in June! Now 14.9c.
  21. I'm tolerant at either end of the temperature spectrum- most people around me will always moan about the cold before I do! Same goes for heat. Sure there are plenty of downsides to heat - especially as I found at the weekend - on a big hangover! Sleeping or dozing on the bed in the day was tricky as bedroom was so hot (my house gets all it's heat 9am-2pm). But on the flip side we had a wonderful evening on Friday with being able to stay out for hours without getting chilly - and similar when our party finally drew to a close around 6am. We could still go for a sunrise walk in t-shirts - perfect! I find you get used to whatever extreme fairly fast - like during winter when it was freezing all the time. It was still annoying (not to mention down right dangerous on many mornings) but you cope! I struggle to find as many upsides with cold as I do heat though. Hot weather brings alive outdoor living - a rare treat in the UK - whereas cold is simply interesting to note (although sometimes stunning to look at).
  22. Two intense thunderstorms - one around 11 last night and one at 6 this morning. A lot of strikes last night and some very hefty rain to go with it. This morning was less thundery but rain heavier (you can definitely tell the difference when you have a window over your bed!). Reports fo flash flooding in the area - no surprise at all with that kind of intensity of rain. Now a muggy 17.9c and overcast.
  23. A stunner of a Friday with unbroken sunshine with a keen breeze. Min of 14.6c now 20.4c.
  24. Cloudy start but now all gone so now completely clear skies - lovely! 18.1c so far after a min of 14.5c.
  25. A warm feeling day with sunny spells later in the day. Now a lovely warm evening so am back outside having my dinner again! High of 20.3c now 18.7c.
