  2. Its kicking off in France already :drinks:bet its not as good as this grab from IOWW back on July 22nd 2006 I've had one flash and a distant rumble so far in 2010. Rubbish! Cheers Mark H
  3. What looked like an impressive storm to the east of Darlington 40 mins ago fizzled out after some rumbles and one inner cloud flash:wallbash: The sky had gone pinky yellow and it was lined up to be a cracker, then it just disappeared, not a drop of rain! We had nothing earlier down here, it was quite dark looking north into Durham and beyond from about 5pm,the temperature in Darlington had risen to 25c by 16.00, more than I thought we would get, Tomorrow could be very interesting, its mega humid at the moment. Time for a beer or several and Glastonbury on the telly! Cheers! Mark H
  4. Thunderstorm just to the east of Darlington approaching from the ESE, no lightning yet, thunder getting louder and sky going a strange pinky yellow colour. Come on my son! :yahoo: Mark H :wallbash:Me and my big mouth. One flash and it was over
  5. Just been snowing really heavy in Darlington, I'm off out with the camera Better not get it too wet like Never seen snow like this here for years and years and I'm the wrong side of 50
  6. Me and my big mouth, now getting very heavy here Just as long as I can get the car to move at 7am
  7. Been snowing in Darlington on and off for just over two hours, total amount so far several mm Total depth using the garden wall as the measure(!) around 3 inches
  8. Currently dry but very icy, the Honda didnt like doing a three point turn in the snow Attached photo taken teatime today of the park next to my house
  9. I'm going to try to attach a pic taken this evening, last time it never worked
  10. Sunny afternoon here as I psych myself up for a trip to Sainsburys, about two-three inches of snow fallen today, snow cover now since the night of 17th December
  11. Have a photo of Morrisons at Morton Park just over an hour ago
  12. We've had a bucketload here in Darlington, at least 5-6cm on the car, good job I left the brush in the porch Have a good journey to work, the roads were very slippy here at 6am, car said it was -1°C
  13. Going by the car, another three inches this morning in Darlington, still snowing lightly out there Carol Kirkwood virtually ignored what is happening up here as it is raining in Sussex apparently Merry Christmas to you all! Mark H p.s. At least Radio 2 are mentioning it!!
  14. Its bone dry here in Darlington, looks like the Pennines are keeping the wet stuff to the west, very windy though.
  15. I think we got away with it....after a lot of rain last night its blue skies, breezy, car says its 9°C, might go for a drive out today
  16. Good morning, its full dull in Darlington, dry, has been raining earlier, a tropical 13°C at 7am going by the car. I see Michael Fish is doing GMTVs weather this week as well
  17. A lovely clear blue sky after a reasonable weekend. The car said 7°C this morning. I think its lying or got its reading from the houses ;O)
  18. Lovely sunny morning here in Darlington, currently 9.5°C Driving in town last night I couldnt believe how brown grass verges had become around here, and the dust from the roads.... I guess we'll see some decent rain for the first time in weeks and weeks tomorrow
  19. Dry with sunny intervals here too, the car says its 15°C, breezy but not as strong as forecast by Carol Kirkwood this morning, presumably the stronger stuff is to hit Northumberland and the Borders? Mark H
  20. Just a couple of rumbles here, the torrential rain has now eased, no storm here tonight then unless another pulse heads across, its hard to believe its only just after 8-30 its so dark
  21. Hi, it looks like Kidwelly and Darlington are twinned, horrendous here, no Sky here either, the dog is scared out of his wits as the rain overflows the gutter, had a bit of thunder, no lightning seen (yet), its hard to believe we are in the same continent as the south east/east Anglia, never mind the same country No summer in 2007, 2008 or 2009. Maybe we should call it 'Sprautumn' from now on? I really feel for those involved in the tourist trade away from the places that have had summer this year. Looking forward to tropical storm Danny next. Oh joy! Update - pavement outside house very flooded, guess we've had an inch in the last 30 mins?
  22. I agree with djajb, we've had a fairly dull and breezy/gusty spring into summer up here in Darlington with only a handfull of cloudless and/or very warm days. We went on a weeks holiday in mid July and headed to the Essex coast where the weather was glorious compared to the deluge that was flooding the north. We also got a brilliant late evening thunderstorm over the sea at Clacton on Thurs 16th July! Seeing as the pattern at the moment seems unlikely to change we are again heading south-east in early September.
  23. Well, it hasnt turned out as bad here as it might have, the threatened rain didnt arrive, the sun appears every so often, and its up to 23°C, that pesky breeze is still about tho. All in all no too bad
  24. It was a lovely morning until 20 mins ago, as usual for the extended spring of 2009 the dark clouds have rolled in along with the incessant breeze that seems to have persisted since about April. OK, it might not be as bad here as parts of the north-west, but I'm totally hacked off with this so called summer. You can see the line of cloud scooting along. It couldnt be 20 miles further north-west could it? Roll on 2010, or will we have four cra*ppy summers on the trot?
  25. Mostly cloudly, sun sneaking through now and then, dry, 15.6°C. Will we see a storm over the town today? Hmm. :winky:
