  1. still nothing here in Machynlleth. Where is it??????????? I hope it all thaws before you all get up tomorrow... Grrrr (joking)
  2. let me know when it gets to you mate! I've already 'waxed' my sledge just in case... Sky weather on now - "6 inches of snow" quoted.
  3. according to raintoday the snow dies diagonally south-east in a line from around Aberystwyth. Bloody typical!
  4. well I'm very happy for all of you down south! I hope we get some up in Mid Wales, although I doubt we'll get it as bad as you lot! (leave some for us won't you!?) Enjoy it if you can. Keep safe! Impster
  5. The main road due east from Aberystwyth towards Llangurig is apparently closing/closed due to drifting of existing snow, and apparently is also getting light flurries of new stuff (mind you it's pretty high up on that road). Impster
  6. Despite my pessimism last night, the sky certainly looks dark, bleak and full of something towards the coast. Apparently it's snowing steadily with a tendancy to drift aroun Synod Inn / Banc Sion Cwilt areas.
  7. I hate to be the pessimist, but my hunch (and I know nothing about weather forecasting...) is for a few snow showers in mid wales, some heavy, most light-moderate. We may have a foot of snow in places, measured horizontally, across the ground (as opposed to vertically...) Sorry, but I can't help but thinking bbc and sky are both downgrading the snow slower than they really should. As said, I'm no expert, far from it. If I'm right, then I won't be dissapointed. If I'm wrong - wahey it's snowtime!!!!!!!!! Good night all. No lampost watching for me tonight. Impster
  8. We had a good covering last week - nothing 'major' though, enough to make the roads proper white (if you know what I mean). Fields were completelly white. Since Friday it's been the occasional 'wet fart' of a snowfall here and there, but it got quite warm(up to 3C) Saturday and Sunday when the skies were comparitively clear and some humidity crept in. The diference here at work since 9am this morning until now (1445) is quite astonishing really, it's now all quite 'mushy', with tufts of grass poking through the snow everywhere.
  9. Well it's thawing quite rapidly here. It's very damp which I think is causing it. Southern facing hills have about 50/50 greenery/snow covering now in places. No sign of snowflakes now either.
  10. temps hovering around 1C here. Thawing rapidly now . Much more 'greenery' about. In fact, it's quite nice outside.
  11. light snow for the past hour or so now near Aberystwyth. Very light, but as has been posted elsewhere, 'the sky looks full of it'. Impster
  12. the 'cutest' of little snowflakes floating about here 4miles east of Aberystwyth. Pathetic effort!
  13. A dusting of wet snow overnight (early this morning I think from about 4am-7am) in Machynlleth, with the thaw really setting in. On the way to work however around 0830 coming through the villages of Derwenlas to Taliesin (basically a couple of miles either side of the Powys/Ceredigion border on the A487) was quite a heavy pocket of thick snow cloud - pelting down with snow with that section of road having a good inch on on it, with more coming. Interestingly, car thermometer showed temp as -1C. Once out of the pocket of snow temp came up to +0.5C, with clear roads and no rain/sleet/snow at all. Funny old weather this ain't it...
  14. Snowing steadily in Machynlleth. Also thawing steadily in Machynlleth...
  15. Looks like this is the anticlimax I've feared here in Machynlleth. No sign of any significant clouds on the radar. It's overcast here, but very very light. Not much substance to the cloud cover. Very occasional small 'floaty' flakes coming down, but melting instantly. Shame really, I was looking forward to some good snow... Impster
  16. a few very small snowflakes coming down here now.
  17. seems warmer this morning. -4.6C in Machynlleth. Sporadic clouds dotted around the sky travelling east to west - some look quite 'thick' as well (i.e. in terms of size, not intelligence). Dare I mention the 's' word?????
  18. Any ideas where this supposed 95% chance of snow is coming from then people? Blue skies above!? Netweather forecast for today - Machynlleth
  19. Where did you find that radar Soupsurfer? -7C here in Machynlleth now.
  20. Come on then, let's have your forecasts. Machynlleth and Aberystwyth areas - what's in store 'snow-wise'?????????
