  1. woke up in Machynlleth at 0630 to a heavy snow shower. Nice white covering outside - but not enough to be significant. Was -3C, now at 0805 it's -1.7C with a clear patchy sky, but with another band of dark clouds approaching from a NE direction. More snow maybe??????????
  2. still around 4.2C here in Machynlleth. All this morning's snow has been washed away. Occasional rain flurry (very light showers), no sign of the good stuff. Still a bit for the time being...
  3. Just started raining heavily in Machynlleth. Currently 2.0 degrees 'C'. Shame - all this morning's snow is being washed away. <_<
  4. just got up. Blanket of snow - about three quarter of an inch here in Machynlleth.
  5. Here in Machynlleth we've had a nice snow shower for the past half hour - enough to turn the ground white. 2.4c at the moment, with patchy cloud and areas of crystal clear sky. Looks like it will freeze between showers if we get any more.
  6. Met office has all of wales in orange (be prepared) for today and tomorrow!!!!! What's all this about then? massive upgrade.
  7. Snowing heavier here now. Nothing sticking tho'. Am i right in thinkng we'll have this for the next 3 hours or so???
  8. snowing here at sy23 3bt. steady showers, not sticking - wetter snow than tuesdays.
  9. absolutelly nothing either here at SY23 3BT (4m east of Aberystwyth). No snow to be seen anywhere - the thaw has taken care of that. Anyone know if this small band: http://www.meteox.co.uk/gmap.aspx?soort=be...on=-1.845703125 (diagonally from tip of pembs NE into mid Wales) may come up with some of the white stuff around noon?
  10. just got in to work at SY23 3BT (4 miles east of Aberystwyth). No snow. Overcast with patches of blue sky trying to appear. The occasional snowflake (tiny!) drifting down past the window - but no snow event here at the moment whatsoever.
  11. Machynlleth, mid Wales, SY20 8EZ. 0.6C, about a quarter inch of dry, powdery snow which has fallen during past 3 hours or so. Still snowing, but tiny tiny flakes. Complete overcast sky.
  12. Temp 0.6C. light dusting of snow in SY20 8EZ. Completelly overcast. Snowing light powdery stuff.
  13. Dim byd yma yn Machynlleth eto. Nowt here in Machynlleth yet. Still showing 2.6C on my Lidl Weather Station. Completelly overcast, windy breeze makes it feel more like 0.5-1C.
  14. neither was I - but no motorways shut in '48 did they...
  15. So, Powys closing all schools tomorrow, Ceredigion on grit reserves, Carmarthenshire only gritting favourite roads, and Co-Op in Machynlleth is out of potatoes. And the Thursday Snow isn't even here yet! How did we cope in '48?
  16. Slightly off topic, but seems that all schools in Powys will be closed tomorrow due to the forecast snow, and Ceredigion county council has run out of road salt with only minimal reserves left for 'selected routes'. So, if this snow does indeed come down heavily, looks like it's gonna be an interesting day... It's getting colder here now at SY23 3BT, but I have no thermometer.
  17. metcheck reporting snow for mid Wales for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
  18. Yup - a snow flurry tomorrow night, followed by no real reason to skip work...
  19. metcheck.com has interesting forecasts for Thursday and Friday... Hmmm. I wonder... Could it, will it????
