Here at work, near Aberystwyth (SY23 3EB) it's been lightly snowing since about 0830. Blue sky overhead now, but some greyish cloud trying to get to us from the east. 2 inches accumulated on ground overnight (i.e. not a proper measurement, just a 'finger in the car park snow' test.
I said about an hour ago it was easing off here in Machynlleth - it is still snowing, although in the 'eased off' stage. Temperature here about 1.4C, and according to Meteox radar the main band of snow has passed by. Anyone here able to give us an idea if there's any more significant showers overnight? Thanks Impster
Back here, 4miles east of Aberystwyth, blue skies have dissapeared. Very dark clouds appearing over the hills from the north/north/west. Popped out for a ciggy about 5mins ago, and temperature is verging near freezing. Looking eastwards seems much lighter. I'm guessing there's snow in them there hills...
Although a little slippy, Machynlleth to Gogerddan was ok this morning too. Shame that the council are only using fish and chip shop salt sellars to grit the roads though...
Seems to be stronger just at or just off the coast i think.
Apparently no sign of any snow at home in Machynlleth...
Looks like I'm here 'til 5 then.
!!!
Seems to be easing off a little here nr Aberystwyth - cloud is retreating to the west (leaving a blue sky in it's wake!), but the snow is falling from the west.
More lovely(!) blue sky here at SY23 3EB (4miles east of Aberystwyth). Although out west has some really thick dark cloud. Seems the sea is getting the snow around here. What a waste...
I'm no meteorologist, but from the office here (4miles inland of Aberystwyth), I can see, looking out to sea a pretty thick band of cloud heading south south eastwards, down through Cardigan bay and onto the land. Looks like snow to me?
Do you think we'll get some 'significant' more - particularly Aberystwyth (so I can go home early!!!!) and Machynlleth (so I can build a snowman with my daughter!!!) Impster
Last hour has seen a good 1/4 inch fall at Machynlleth - very dry snow, temperature here still hovering around -1.5C... Sky looks pretty 'thick' with cloud, so guessing there'll be more by the time i get up around 7am...
-1C in Machynlleth. Have had another half inch of snow sometime between 3am and 6am this morning. Possibly enough to 'roll' a snowman. Brightening up here, temperature rising slowly. Impster
A good snow shower about 6pm in Machynlleth has left the ground white. Clear skies and freezing now although my little electronic weather station promises more showers of some sort...
