  1. We have now had three falls of around 1" in Ealing, so certainly decent winter weather, but as you say, unless London gets a proper dump it cannot be called an epic cold spell!
  2. Seems as the guys up in the north of London are posting the best numbers within the capital. We are on the edge of the band in Ealing. It's quite cold and if I squint I might be able to say we've added 0.5cm over the morning. If the UKMO are correct and that band shifts south a tad then I guess we may clear two inches by nightfall, but it needs to sink south about 10 miles. Good thing is the temps in leafy Ealing - no snow melt to speak of here at all.
  3. Come on - have some sympathy. There still hasn't been a set piece snow event for the populous parts of the SE yet and without that I don't think we can call this an epic cold spell. Not saying it won't happen but 2-4cm in the London suburbs does not a snow event make!
  4. Upgrade it's true but... Where are the UKMO finding 2-5cm in Gtr London? Any experts on here want to comment? ondon & South East England: Bracknell Forest Buckinghamshire Gtr London Milton Keynes Oxfordshire W Berkshire Windsor + Maidenhead WokinghamHeavy Snow1100 Wed 61600 Wed 6Further outbreaks of snow will turn heavy through today giving fresh accumulations of 2 to 5 cm in places and perhaps locally 10 cm. This will continue to cause widespread disruption to transport. The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advise on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads. Issued at: 1049 Wed 6 Jan
  5. It's quite frustrating. Caught between two bands again. Same thing happened in December. Need cold easterly and a Thames Streamer. 2cm here, light snow falling. But I said yesterday that the media were ramping London snow too much. The buzz in the office was ridiculous and I kept thinking "these numbers are being over-egged". Still two months of winter left, let's see if we can bag a streamer.
  6. I probably got about 2cm here in Ealing, but we are always a little bit cooler due to the large amounts of green space in the borough. The heat island is amazing. Twice this winter I have travelled four miles from my office in Hammersmith back to W5 and there has been no lying snow in Hammersmith yet around an inch in Ealing and everything white. As for today, light snow all morning, still falling, very little melt. Yet somehow it's disappointing. London has not had a proper dump yet, and until it does, I maintain that this cannot go down as an epic cold spell. We need a proper big easterly and a Thames Streamer. Nothing else will ever match up to Feb 2 unless we get that, in my view.
  7. coming down with the big flaked stuff just west of you in Ealing W5.
  8. 2-5cm widely, 5-10cm locally. Looking at the radar I'd guess three cm for W5 but could maybe stretch to more
  9. Heavy fast falling snow in Ealing, west London now!
  10. I have been wondering that all winter. Nearly half the population of England and about a third of her land in one group.
  11. You know what it is! And moderate too! Beautiful flakes. This is ridiculous, on all three occasions it has snowed this winter, I have spent my hours on here, looking at netweather.tv and eyeing the radar – and every time the good lady has beat me to the punch by saying it's snowing before I realise it is.
  12. It's a long wait but that Dutch radar looks as if all of London should now cop it. The band has really thickened up to the south. That all said, I'd be amazed if we get more than 5cm! I'd actually be well happy with two inches, more that I have had all winter so far (two falls of one inch or less) Dutch radar here: http://www.meteox.nl/gmapstatic.aspx?zoom=6&type=zoom&x=250&y=221
  13. Try having an iPhone, it's like that all the time. Ealing, London w5 btw
  14. The experts on here are now saying London is indeed in a sweet spot but we shall see
  15. I seems to be widening up nicely along the south coast too
  16. Whoops looks like you are all right on the radar it appears that the snow has now entered greater London from the south west
  17. cheers to you and teits, I am a complete amateur so bear with me. Hope my post was not construed as a moan!
  18. Yes I thought peter cockroft played it down a bit for London. I am in Ealing and it looks like I might miss a 10/15cm dump by 15 miles
  19. Where about are you stu? I look like I might pick up a bit soonish in Ealing. Tbh I was under the impression it would be a late night job, yet that looks fairly close
  20. Is that your sim card on there teits? Anyway like the look of your forecast!
  21. It also depends on what she means by London. Does she mean central London or all of Gtr London? Totals tend to vary pretty widely across the Gtr London area in times of snow, it's a big old place London.
  22. Surrey is. London is still orange unless my browser has cached or something???!
