  1. Woke up to about 2mm of new snow here in Oadby SE Leicester. That will do ! Side roads are white. Amazing that my little son's first Christmas is of the White variety. Who will start the AndyLeics gets White Christmas thread. Surely the stuff of NetWeather folklore? Merry Christmas one and all, fingers crossed for a proper snowstorm next week!
  2. Any coming our way Andy? Looks to be pivoting from the looks of my cheap radar app. Should fall as snow without too much problem now it's much colder outside than earlier
  3. Metoffice now say 80 per cent risk that it turns to sleet and snow. If andy leics gets it on christmas eve of all times it will surely be the stuff of net weather legend.
  4. True. That low would yield a large dumping for some in the south, but might well yield a few inches in this region too. Too early anyway to prog the exact location of the snowfest. Good post. Forgot to mention that it is very foggy here too in the cold rain. very little snow melt again on the remaining lying gear. could it do the business?
  5. Cold rain/drizzle in SE Leicestershire. Does seem to be getting colder so may just meet the shock BBC forecast. If that comes off we'll have hand it to the Beeb for their White Christmas ramping earlier!
  6. I was just thinking that. Think blizzards was slightly put out that someonecsaid it was news when he had relayed it earlier. Freezing fog in se Leicestershire now, goodwill to all men
  7. Just watched the forecast and they do seem to be going for snow for the m69 corridor Coventry to Leicestershire about 3am. It would be bizarre if andy leics finally gets snow on Christmas morning when he didn't even know it had been forecast! In sw leics myself for Christmas I'll believe it when I see it!
  8. Sharp, perhaps severe frost in Oadby. SW Leicestershire. Freezing rain followed by brief snow last night has done very little to our garden snow cover. BBC vastly overcooking the temps yet again. Looking like a White Christmas for my 13 week old boys first festive season, in all but a technical sense. Still well below freezing here
  9. sleet turned to snow just as we arrived in Oadby sw Leicestershire. Now ppn dying off
  10. Driving up to Leicestershire for Christmas from london, past endless pristine snowfields. Hoping for some knife edge snow when I get to my mums.
  11. Hi guys for what must be the 100th time can people please state their locations in their posts. iPhone does not show avatars! Cheers
  12. I'll second that. It's been a laugh in London and we've only had two modest doses. hope you guys score, particularly as I'm heading to Leicestershire for christmas
  13. Like that forecast. I am 35 miles to the west of reading in Ealing , west London. We deserve a dump as east London got the best fall on Thursday while we only scraped an inch
  14. Is this a serious forecast? It does seem to match up with my radar but i'm no expert and is it cold enough on London?
  15. She has been hitting the unwanted banana liquer five days early
  16. I thought Peter Cockcroft bottled it by saying "more heavy snow" but not saying any quantities, locations or using graphics this time, then the girl on BBC national weather did also say it would "track back across the London area" but again failed to mention any quantities. I'd infer another cm at best for London – graphics looked like it was fizzling out but a really vague forecast for overnight in London. Lame all round!
  17. Thanks for the explanation. Wondered why it felt less warm than earlier when I took the bins out just now. Still a nice covering on the garden from earlier though. Thaw hasn't done much at all really, away from the roads.
  18. I suspect if it hits London at 0500 we should be just about cold enough. That must be what they are banking on but let's wait for the next forecast coming up now to see if they are sticking with it.
  19. I was gonna say – looks like Sutton, Greater London, could be for a bit more from that cold front that seems to be heading NE from the channel. But nothing is certain in the crazy winter world.
  20. Haven't seen one of those for a while. Old skool - like the ones with fur on!
  21. True. I guess that's what Cockcroft must be banking on.
  22. Only thing I can think of is that they think it might pep up as it tracks back over Chilterns and the cold air digs in. But don't expect me to explain the meteorology behind that statement – I just read other posts and get it from there!
  23. Fair enough Nick, I'm anything but an expert. Happy enough with what we have to be honest. All is white and pretty again on Ealing Common, total surprise package.
