  1. Very light snow in Hammersmith but now seems to have stopped. <_<
  2. It is very annoying, isn't it? Not only are they happy that they got the forecast badly wrong, they are also delighted that we have to make do with sleet. Now I know very few people who prefer wet sleet to snow, other than, seemingly, TV forecasters and some in the UKMO.
  3. Well went to bed last night expecting nothing but rain but woke up to a pretty covering here in Ealing, west London. Looks wet and sleety now but at least it is here. A bonus.
  4. Yes it was on the TV forecast they had it as 6 degrees. Glitch, clearly.
  5. I am new to all this but looks from the link above it has started to move east and is also developing. Meanwhile - where in God's name did the BBC get current central London temp as 6 degrees from? The Met Office's own data shows central London at 1.9 degrees. Out west here is 1.5 and falling.
  6. No thermometer but the dripping has now stopped in Hammersmith, west London.
  7. Hi chaps and chapesses. People now saying west London in line for another dump overnight. Is this true?
  8. Tiny flakes mixed with icy droplets of water here in Ealing. Still, a proper winter's night - chillingly cold, damp and raw and with a particularly chilling brand of sleet in the air.
  9. Very cold and pink sky in Ealing, west London. Feels like snow on its way I must admit.
  10. Thanks! I was pretty surprised that no-one had taken my name - I guess that it's because many people on here hate rain? I'm a boring gardener so I'm afraid I do rather like rain at the right times... Anyway, liking this winter, it's a pretty interesting one really. I still think we will see some snowflakes tonight up on Ealing hill as it's just too cold here to rain until much later - then it will wash away the slush which, too be honest, is looking pretty ugly around London. Be nice to see some more snow though before the end of the winter - still, what, seven more weeks to go?
  11. I too have been lurking over the past few days, but have found the science and general chat very interesting. I was surprised that the BBC have forecast rain tonight. It certainly feels very cold here in Ealing, west London. I would expect sleet or even snow from this "feeling". I am no expect however, and I guess it's rain for us... Lying snow in my garden is still 2-3 inches though, so only half has thawed. I doubt this helps you forecast however!
