  1. Can someone write a script which displays the posts per hour on the MOD thread please? This will give a much better guide to an upcoming cold spell without me having to read any incomprehensible posts. Last night there were two one after the other that said "Winter's Over" and "Snowy February"! Anyway... just had a very mild and muddy Cub camp, the only snowballs we had were made of rolled up newspaper.
  2. Looking at the Raintoday radar it looks like the furthest eastward extent is going to be selby/ tadcaster again! Good luck to all of you further West! I've just driven down from Durham today and there were good patches on the north facing slopes above the city..
  3. I'm driving back from Kent Friday lunchtime. What's the betting I don't see a single flake on the way... Can't wait to get on Terrington Bank. Have to get there this year surely. Better than the Cresta Run...!
  4. That's true we have been waiting for decent covering here in York for a while. March 2013 that everyone goes on about missed us though I think you got some Vizzy? You have a bit more altitude. And as for last winter... I'm on a course in North East Kent next week so I'm going to take my sledge just in case...
  5. No1 Son is at uni in Durham. He never phones though! I'll wake him up tomorrow for a snow report!
  6. Hmmm last year i got the netweather radar and cursed myself with no snow - well no more than a dusting!... Is it worth the agony this year of seeing decent snowdumps 15 miles away but nothing for Strensall? Of course it is! Because maybe ... just maybe .... we get some snow in York this year.
  7. Just visiting my folks south of Maidstone and its Snowing! Huge flakes and not laying but still!
  8. It's certainly building up. Will it push through?
  9. Thanks jonboy, The Uni also keep a log but it is just basic info nothing about snow depth. Call it hopecasting but i can see York getting a couple of centimeters tonight.
  10. Can anyone point me to a website with historical records of weather conditions please. But a bit more 'local' than the MetO one. I'm trying to find out when it has snowed in york specifically. Thanks in advance, beautiful sunshine and fleeting snow today.
  11. Little bit of snow in York for the morning walk to school. Great consistancy for snowballs! Looking at the radar the stream of showers is pointing right at York but getting used up on the coast and moors. I take it from the lack of comments that nobody had very much last night? Work seems to have got wise to me contantly pressing F5 and blocked NetWeather radar last night!
  12. Just in case you need an update... Dusting at Strensall but 3 miles west at Wigginton nothing - and nothing at Linton. Please please can we have some snow tonight in York! We must be the most snowless place in the North this winter. Enough moaning great to see the east has got some snow at last.
  13. I didn't understand why there was a MetO Amber warning for York on Tuesday published last Friday. Surely they had no confidence that would happen? Still waiting for some decent snow here! Off to see friends in Sheffield next weekend so there will probably be none left there and then a blizzard in York! Cursed, I tell ya, Cursed.
  14. About 1cm of slush in York - when I left the sleet was hammering down but it was still laying. Less at Linton... NW radar shows it continuing with sleet but nothing doing atm. Happy now though!
  15. Lashing down with rain at Linton. The windows are rattling! Good to see the N York anti snow device is powered up
  16. March 2013 was a bust for York, at least this spell looks like we might get some lying snow. Although my purchase of the Netweather radar may have cursed me, it seems to run on the work computer so i shall be glued Weds night.
  17. Don't forget York! Two years ago the snowline stalled at Selby, This year it seemed to be Tadcaster. It's getting closer! But i didn't think my location does that well out of a northerly. The Wolds could be cut off though. Pocklington even though it's only 15mile away always seems to get snow from which ever direction.
  18. I reckon that's about right. Had sleet most of the day in York. Great pictures from you all. Of course i am jealous but it looks marvellous. York's day will come! Hopefully this year...
  19. I take it back (slightly) snowing in strensall laying on the cars and grass. Not enough to take jr to school on his sledge though. Not without ripping out the bottom of it!
  20. Light snow at Linton but nothing laying. Gutted. Again!
  21. Has that band seriously stalled south of York? I don't believe it!
  22. I remember my sole long range weather was the CeeFax 5 day forecast, which always said York Hvy Snow at five days and then steadily downgraded day by day to light rain or cloudy on the day. I sometimes wonder if I wasn't better off in those days.... Nah! not really.
  23. MetO here say potential for 3-4" overnight... Though anything would be nice!
  24. "The south of northern england"? That's the first time i've ever heard that used. Still not convinced we'll see very much in York.
  25. Quick snow shower in york, finished now and didn't lay but I really love driving through it. As everyone has said - most unexpected!
