  1. Well I just went out for a stroll in the snow that is trying it's best to settle, but it is only very tiny ice crystals at the moment, the kind that hurt your face when they hit.

Either way, this is central London and the snow/ice crystals are settling on the cars and roofs and doing their best to settle on the back streets, so a surpise for many. (and a relief for me)

:drinks: how long do you think the snow will continue ? It still has not reached here yet but I hope it will in the next half hour, just listened to the forecast on LBC they said snow for several hours and continuing into the afternoon with heavier snow particularly North of London.

  2. Well we had our starters before Christmas, main course this week, so when is dessert ?

Maybe Wednesday, and you never know by the 20th we could be saying 'pass the port' (lol)

I wonder what everyone is doing now they are not on here - I've started a jigsaw puzzle that I had for Christmas, it is a lovely winter scene so at least I will still have some snow to look at if what's outside melts !

One good thing I can go to bed and not keep curtain twitching and lampost watching tonight lazy.gif

I'm still here just keeping my mouth shut and waiting for the nowcast situation to happen what with this being a marginal forecast, I hope the wicked wind from the South don't spoil it and the nice wind from the East does its thing. The Blizzard of Oz will be very happy. :)

  3. UK regions: Wales South West England West Midlands London & South East EnglandHeavy SnowTue 12 JanThere is a moderate risk of a severe weather event affecting parts of central-southern and southwest England, West Midlands and North Wales.

A band of heavy snow will move slowly northeast during Tuesday afternoon and the first part of Wednesday before dying out. Accumulations of 2 to 5cm are expected widely, with 5 to 15cm possible locally. The strengthening southeasterly wind is also likely to lead to drifting of snow.

well after to-days non event im not holding my breath !!

Realy and they are always right  :p incredible.

  4. Did you get any fresh falls overnight? Here we had very light snizzle all day which died out towards midnight. Considering what had been forecast it was very disappointing.

Got a few flakes around 4 pm but the main band just missed us by a whisker, 5 inch last Wednesday still laying good out here in the Country and the snow fields.

  5. Good morning. That big blob will probably break up or track SE. Of course I hope it doesn't but we shall see. :nea:

I'm not happy, in fact I'm quite sad I hope it dont been tracking it since 9 pm. :nea: Edit: I won't go to bed until it gets to land and then I will be promted to stay up even longer it's been a long old frustrating night but I think and of course hope its worth it even though its light snow its been incredible radar watching tonight.

  6. Report from mid Kent, 04:11 AM

Just so as you know Im not imagining the thaw:

Just had a look @ weather:

One minute moderate snow, then sleety, then sometimes light rain. Can definitely see laying snow shrinking & paths are beginning to become visible around the edges. Slight melt craters beginning to appear on the grass.

Recently made footsteps in the snow are revealing tarmac underneath (as they melt 1st!)

    Weather station:

    Temp: 1.8 Deg C

    DewPoint: 1.1 Deg C.

    Pressure: falling

    YUK!

Yep, could be heading down towards the SE, then. Still no sign of anything, as forecast, coming from the South /East.

Looks like the band for Kent is just to the East of this band steering towards EA good few hours yet though, maybe 11 am ish.
