  1. What are the chances now of snow for the Hinckley (liecestershire/warwickshire border) area. I keep checking and the forecasts were really good, then they backed off and forecast icy rain and sleet. Met office not forecasting anything special for my area either
  2. Got back from xmas shopping feeling down and broke, but Lifes worth living again, the forcast on netweather for my area says SNOW for monday I've been looking at the model thread but don't understand it. Is is true, will it really happen. How much, how deep, do I need to find the shovel, should I make a sedge for my doggie to pull. snow snow snow snow snow
  3. 10.1c feels colder in the blustery winds we have here. It has just started raining.
  4. Moan, whinge, moan......when will it get cold? When will we see some snow? Will we ever see snow again..sob...sob I was born in 1962, from my mothers diary there was lots of snow, deep and crisp and very uneven, it lasted for ages on the ground. I was born to a winter of snow and that's what I want now!!! Please Santa if I'm good can I have some snow please, about 1ft would be fine, 6ft drifts would be excellent.
  5. temp at 4.1C, its raining and its getting windy.
  6. Got down to -3.3c last night, was -3.0 at 8 am Bright and sunny until about 1/2 hr ago. We have complete cloud cover now with temp at 2.2c.
  7. Thank you all for the lovely welcome:give_rose: Its wonderful now that it is getting colder. I am getting ready for a flattened nose against the window looking for the first flake of snow.
  8. I have to say that it's my parents who instilled in me my love of snow and I'm doing the same to my grandchildren.
  9. Hello everyone, I'm hope no one objects to non-technical people like myself joining this forum. I joined when we had the snow event beginning of this year. The forum had me with either my nose glue to the window peering out into the night or my eyes franticly scanning the posts here to see if anywhere close had snow falling. The forum gave me people to talk to who didn't say "put the kettle on and stop looking out of the window, your letting all the heat out". Hope it starts to get cold soon.
  10. Temp increased here to 5c (boo hiss) but has dropped back to 4.1c. Hope we do get some and snowmadchrisuk gets to leave work early.
  11. just looked at met weather warnings for midlands and whilst the maps for us earlier were all orange they have been changed to yellow. I got all excited when I saw they alerts earlier. Its 3c here but cloud is getting thicker, just hope we do get some more snow. There is very little of the snow left from the last lot, just a few bits where the sun hasn't touched.
  12. She said heavey snow first to weeks in Feb and thats what we got. For me thats pretty acurate considering it was forecast last october. Yes I agreed the rest is pretty sketchy, but she usually gets major events right. Don't forget she only has a few lines, a couple of times a year in the local news paper. She may well be able to give a more detailed forecast, with only a sideline in a local paper to go on, that is only supposition. Anyway as I originally said I thought it was interesting, I didn't say it was gospel.
  13. This was published in the Harborough Mail in October 2008, its spot on for the snow we have just had. Thought some of you may find it interesting I have added the link to the Harborough Mail web site. Weather tips from Joyce Published Date: 16 October 2008 LOCAL amateur weather forecaster Joyce Dunkley of Little Bowden, has produced her forecast for the autumn/winter, based on observations taken at the autumn equinox. She has warned of a cold winter, with the worst of the weather in the New Year, when there could be spells of heavy snow. December will bring a cold, but mainly dry, few weeks but it should be milder around Christmas. Miss Dunkley correctly forecast a misty start to October, dry and a few sunny days, but we should be prepared for high winds in the last two weeks. November will be an unusually bright month, cold but dry with a few misty days and an odd frost. There will be a cold and windy start to January with a little sun and frosts, turning even colder with a strong chance of snow after the 20th. February will be the worst month of the winter, cold and windy with heavy snow for the first two weeks. March will be changeable with the possibility of snow showers. The full article contains 176 words and appears in Harborough Mail newspaper.
