A rather depressing models conclusion from stodge in the model thread, he's usually pretty balanced. He states.... "Conclusion: it's clearly game over for the current cold spell despite the promise of just 48 hours ago. If GFS is right, we might squeeze out one more cold day on Sunday but otherwise the milder air marches in and that's that. No sign of an immediate return to cold on any of the models and the more likely evolution looks to be mild and benign with HP not too far by but in the wrong position to send over any colder air. The Atlantic isn't exactly raging either so it may be another waiting game until the next opportunity for amplification. The PV is looking formidable now and unlikely to be of any help so it's a 10-14 day milder spell starting on Sunday at the moment. As always, the models can pick up new signals so it's not a certainty but tonight the prospects for further cold this month after this week don't look bright." This does not rule out some snow for us on the weekend though, it still looks like we're in with a chance on Saturday, and maybe a little for some of us on Thursday night/Friday morning.

I still think some of us in South Wales will have a period of snow in the early hours of Friday morning, but I expect it to be light and not last too long. I very much doubt that a warning will be issued at all. I would love to be wrong, but I can't see it being potentially disruptive enough to warrant a warning. If one is issued, it may only be for areas west of Swansea. As for Saturday, God knows! A heatwave is about as likely as anything else it would seem.

Don't wish to be a party pooper, but there is still a very real risk that the front on Thursday night may not even make it this far. Monday at the moment looks like bringing too much mild air in. If only we didn't have to go through all this uncertainty. Storm Emma in 2018 was a sure thing and you could sit and look forward to it, I'm aware that some didn't do so well out of it though.

Bit of light snow coming down here but nothing to dance about lol. It looks like Thursday/Friday's snow has been consistently modelled in some fashion. The question is how far the front can make inroads. We don't want it going too far east, as that risks milder air moving into west Wales. It would be nice if we all had some snow. The block seems quite strong so I guess it's more a question of whether it makes it to Wales at all. They've had some fairly decent snow in the SE it would seem. I must admit, I did identify with the frustration from some yesterday, particularly those in the amber zone who received very little.

Yes I had a look in some of the regionals last night and they were moaning about it as well. Also, someone from Kent recently said in the mod thread, "Def no boom for the snowless southern half of the country". What do they consider as the southern HALF for heaven's sake?? Utterly clueless arrogance!

Someone from the southeast said earlier "The joys of trying to get snowflake in the UK!". Erm, excuse me but many of us have had some snow in the UK, even today in some areas! Unbelievably irritating southeast bias! Because of course there's nothing to the UK beyond London and the Home counties! eh!

I've been on these forums for years now, I used to gain a lot of knowledge from the model thread. A lot of knowledgeable people used to be very useful in there. Sadly, hardly any of them post much in there now because of all the childishness in there, and the same people every year with bipolar reactions to each and every run (even though they've been told a million times not to). This year though, I've found the sniping, trolling, and IMBYism in there worse than it's ever been!

Woke up late this morning, due to being hungover all day yesterday! Nice surprise to wake up to. Decent covering on everything bar the roads, according to my partner there was earlier but it's melted on the roads. Looks like a good few hours of snowfall left ye though, but it's pretty light at the moment.
